Answer This Question

A:  Hello BG11, 1. R-13 is tested for thermal value through the 3.5” thickness of the product. That should be consistent for the entire batt. Thank you for your inquiry!

Q:Do the sides of the insulation provide any insulating value? Specifically, if I install this insulation into a cantilever floor space, one end of the insulation will be touching the rim joist, so will it provide insulating value to the rim joist?

Q:recently had faced fiberglass insulation installed in interior wall so that one side has exposed pink fiberglass. is it ok to staple a piece of plastic on the exposed side, and can i leave it place when we get to installing the drywall?

            Answer This Question

A:  Hello Doris, with this being an interior wall this should not be an issue, but with one caution. If this is for a bathroom, the poly can only be on the side that is interior to the bathroom. If it is a bathroom wall and the poly will be exterior to the bathroom, it should be removed prior to installing the drywall. Thank you for your inquiry!

A:  Hello Stephen, Standard applications for Faced Fiberglass Insulation products include wood-framed wall, floor and roof/ceiling applications. We would advise that you verify with your Local Buidling Codes. Your Local Building Code will provide the recommended R-value for your application in addition to providing recommendation or requirements regarding vapor retarders or the use of faced insulation products. Thank you for your inquiry.
