A:  The VentSure Rigid Roll should be installed under your Hip and Ridge Shingles. Two nails should be driven through on each side. One nail would be applied one inch away from the edge, the second nail would be applied two inches from the edge. The same procedure for the other side. A:  The VentSure Rigid Roll can be used with chimneys or chimney pipes that come from the ridge. The same would be possible with a 3 inch ridge pole. It is advised that ridge cuts be 12 inches away from the pole or protrusion. Proper installation technique would call for the edge of the vent to butt against the chimney pipe. In your situation, you would need to cut the ridge vent around the curvature of the pole.
