Q:Why is there no mention of how much should be used? With Clorox, it's right on the label. The fact that the label showing amount needed just makes me suspicious. Do I need to buy 5 bags? 10? 1?

A: Hi Robert. We are the manufacturer of PoolTime products. The pH Down has a dosage chart on the back label to show the amount needed to lower the pH starting at a certain level. Very briefly, a 10,000 gallon pool would need 24 oz to lower it from >8.4, 20 oz to lower from 8.1-8.4, 12 oz to lower from 7.9-8.0 and 6 oz to lower from 7.7-7.8. Please give us a call at 800-252-7665 if you have any further questions. We are available Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm EST.

A: Not sure why you want to mess with ph in the pond since its in range for pools and hot tubs but i would usr muriatic acid and not this. The one in the paint department. Use an online calculator for 10000 gallon pool and the 12.5 x the amount.

Q:If I apply a small amount to a brush, can I carefully put it on the calcium buildup on my water line to help remove it? Liquid muratic acid throws off a lot of caustic vapor, just wanted to know if this does the same when it comes in contact with water.

A: This is nowhere nearly as caustic as muriatic acid. I’m not sure it will remove the calcium buildup but it’s worth a try. Wear rubber gloves to be careful.

A: Hi JMRA, We are the manufacturer of Pool Time Products. We cannot recommend our pH Down to be used in the manner in which you have described. Our pH Down product should be added directly to the swimming pool to adjust the pH of the pool, not as a surface cleaner to remove waterline buildup of any sort. If you have any other pool care related questions, please give our Technical Solutions Team a call at 1-800-252-POOL (7665). Thank you.

Answer This Question
A: 5 lb=80oz is equivalent to 4 pint of muriatic acid from the manufacturer.
2 Gallons of 31.5% muriatic acid = 16 pint is costing less than 5lbs. pH down at the time of writing.
Of course the advantage of this powder product is the safety.

A: Hi cspark, We are the manufacturer of Pool Time products. Twenty ounces of our pH Down is equivalent to one pint of muriatic acid. Our pH Down is a granular product, therefore it is considered more safe as spills are more easily cleaned up before any potential damage can occur. If you have any other questions, please give our Technical Solutions Team a call at 1-800-252-POOL (7665). Thank you.

A: Hi CReePeR, We are the manufacturer of Pool Time products. Our pH Down product includes a dosage chart on the back of the label. If your pH is between 7.7 and 7.8, we recommend the addition of 6 ounces pH Down (per 10,000 gallons of pool water), if pH is between 7.9 and 8.0, we recommend the addition of 12 ounces pH Down (per 10,000 gallons), if pH is between 8.1 and 8.4, we recommend the addition of 20 ounces pH Down (per 10,000 gallons) and if pH is above 8.4, we recommend the addition of 24 ounces pH Down per 10,000 gallons. For your 25,500 pool, these values are 15 ounces (pH 7.7 - 7.8), 31 ounces (pH 7.9 - 8.0), 51 ounces (pH 8.1 - 8.4) and 61 ounces (pH higher than 8.4). One cup of this product equals about 8 ounces. If you have any other pool care questions or concerns, please give us a call at 1-800-252-POOL (7665). Thank you.

A: It could but you'd want to get a test kit to know how much. You can use the Trouble Free Pools app in your browser to know exactly how much to add after you test the water.
