Answer This Question

A:  1) You might check the end of the driver, if chipped might need to be replaced 2) If rotating the knob is not adjusting the depth at all then try this - seems the linkage for the depth control not fitting correctly. First, remove the brads and disconnect from the air supply. Open the front like you had a jammed brad, pull out the bottom part of the linkage a little (it goes all the way to the nose. Adjust the depth control until you can see the slot in the top section of linkage. Slide the bottom section of linkage back in place so the little knob on the top part of it slides into the little slot on the top part of the linkage. Then swing the front back into place and latch it. If it takes more than 5 minutes, you're doing it wrong. Good Luck.

A:  1st response was good suggestion! In addition these do wear out, you may have trash in the hammer tube preventing it from fully reaching bottom, OR given age you may have a gasket letting too much air bypass on each hit. The 4 allen head screws on top come out easily, remove top SLOWLY to not tear gasket, the center plunger has a black sealing ring around it. It may have broken although it does have an angled split to get it into place, anything else it's broken. Pull that center plunger straight up, check the bottom of it that's coming to a point, or lookup part on Porter Cable or wherever website to make sure plunger looks right, it could have chipped off given the age of tool, heck they chip off on new ones.... Also look in cylinder to see if any trash in there, if clear, wipe out & rub just a smidge of tool oil around top of black ring around plunger & place back into center of cylinder. Replace top gasket and allen head screws with a drop of blue loctite on each. If yoh do suggestion #1 & this cleaning and still have issues, you should look into a rebuild kit including a new trigger, which can also contribute to incomplete hits. All in all you may find it's more economical to step into a BN200C for $60. Do the cleaning first & good luck.

A:  Try 90 psi instead. 1-3/4" is a fairly long nail and the higher pressure helps drive those.

A:  Could be your compressor doesn't "recharge" to full pressure as fast as you're shooting. Or the wood is too dense. These nailers aren't really designed for super heavy duty use. Trim and other softer and thinner woods are fine.

A:  Make sure you're applying the same pressure when holding the gun. If you don't then the brads won't all go into the material. I'm not talking about the air pressure but how firmly you hold the gun.

A:  Not sure. It's been a while since I bought mine. Read the description and owner's manual to see.

        by|Mar 1, 2021

A:  Of course. Didn't yours come with a lifetime supply guaranteed by Home Depot? I'd ask Home Depot to send a variety pack of the 18 gauge nails that they include when they start your lifetime supply of nails for you purchase.

Q:Will this stapler use arrow t50 staples?
        by|Feb 14, 2021

        Answer This Question

A:  NO! It's a BRAD nailer. It doesn't use staples. I recommend downloading the PDF manual and checking all the specs. Or - just thoroughly read the description here. As far as it being a brad nailer - I've used mine for 3-4 years now. It works great and is very versatile within it's range.

        by|Feb 14, 2021

A:  this stapler uses 1/8 wide staples, all arrow staples i have seen are either 1/4", 3/8" or 1/2". i would say no unless arrow makes a size i am not aware of

        by|Feb 16, 2021

A:  No this uses nails, not staples.

        by|Feb 14, 2021

A:  This isn't a stapler. It's an 18 gauge brad nail gun. It only uses 18 ga brad nails.

        by|Feb 14, 2021

A:  I do not believe so. I have tried, but the specs do not seem to support the staples.

A:  Your asking under the wrong product Q & A. The Porter Cable nailer uses compressed air.

        by|Mar 1, 2021

A:  You don't need to use a nail gun. You can use a brad nailer with 1-1/2 in brads for baseboard.

        by|Oct 18, 2020

A:  If there is a tool rental place close by, check for a finish nailer - electric - and the smallest package of casing nails. Your baseboard will be back in place in no time. As an example, you can look on Lowe's website for Finish Nailers and they have a decent selection - but you'd have a nailer - not a stapler or brad nailer - that you might never use again. I don't know what HD has, I quit shopping there when I learned they supported our Bankrupter-In-Chief and abuser of women. I'm Christian and Conservative - I can't tolerate those business ethics.

Q:What do you recommend to build a custom cabinet and installing quarter round?
          by|Jul 24, 2020

          Answer This Question

A:  I'd suggest a finish nailer for both. However, a brad nailer like the excellent Porter-Cable 18-Gauge model, and using clamps and quality wood glue, could be used for the cabinet. The brads would primarily hold the pieces in position as you glue and clamp the joints until dry. If using MDF board for cabinet sides, pre-drill the holes and use screws instead while also gluing the joints. Pre-drilling the screw holes will help prevent the MDF from splitting out and disintegrating. Search a few online forums for more advice on cabinet construction techniques. Hope this has been somewhat helpful!

              Answer This Question

A:  I think this nailer would work. I've done similar work, though not with oak. Pine and poplar will be fine. You may need to crank up the air pressure for oak.

              by|May 21, 2020

A:  This should work fine. Adding glue will make your shadow boxes pretty sturdy.
