Q:What’s the difference between this product & the one you sell specifically for fireplaces? Are there any special instructions for using this product on an interior, unpainted red brick fireplace? Which brush/tools do you recommend?

Answer This Question

A:  There is no difference. The fireplace kit just includes some items, such as the brush to help the project. You can purchase the Romabio Masonry Brush separately if you prefer. Always test the surface with water to be sure it can absorb it. If your surface can't absorb water readily, it won't hold the limewash either so that is the first step. If it can, dilute Classico Limewash 50% to 100% with clean water (1 part limewash to between 1/2 and 1 part water). The less water, the fuller the coverage. Then distress the areas you'd like to see the brick come thru. Contact us at info@romabio.com if you need more help.

Q:Can this be used on red brick & get the same color?
      by|Jun 23, 2024
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  At 50% dilution (1 part product to 1/2 part water) you should get full coverage in the color you choose. You can then distress the areas you may want to still see brick come thru. Results can vary depending on the absorbency of your brick but that's the typical outcome.

Q:Is this a true lime wash? I’m looking for real lime wash that’s breathable and can be used on the interior of my stone foundation. I’m finding a lot of product that’s just paint, not real lime. Can this be used over paint on parts of the wall?

            Answer This Question

A:  Classico Limewash is made from slaked lime from the Dolomites. It is an authentically made Italian Limewash. It will go on full coverage and can either be artistically distressed or it will just wear down naturally. It is exceptionally breathable. We do sell a product called Venetian Glaze that is perfect for stone that won't cover it completely, but will go on as a semi-transparent look. Its is also made from authentic slaked lime but it can be diluted more heavily so you'll still see the variation of the natural stone, just in a different color. Go to Romabio.com to learn more.

Q:Can this be used on tile around fireplace?

              Answer This Question

A:  We wouldn't recommend it on any flooring but if the tile is on the wall, you could try it. The problem is most tile isn't absorbent and if it can't absorb water then the Classico Limewash will not stick to it at all. You can try a water test to see. Both the tile and the grout MUST be absorbent.

Q:Like the color of gray mortar but want to change the red brick to either Nube gray or Avorio white. How can I achieve the same look without covering the mortar? Would I use a small dab brush, cloth or small roller on each brick individually? No solid look

                Answer This Question

A:  Hello, Since Classico Limewash can be removed within 48hrs, you can test a few different techniques to see what you like best. Painting each brick will be time consuming. Maybe you should check out Romabio's Venetian Glaze. That can color wash your brick so you'll still see the variation between the brick color and the mortar. go to romabio.com for more info or email us at info@romabio.com
