Answer This Question

A:  We're sorry to hear that this is happening with your trap. We recommend the following cleaning steps for the trap: Turn the trap off and remove the batteries. Use a hydrogen peroxide topical solution (available at most drug stores) and an old toothbrush to clean the inside of the chamber. If needed, use a wire brush to remove any corrosion, being careful not to be too vigorous. This could accidentally remove all of the protective zinc plating. Allow the interior and exterior of the kill chamber to air dry completely before reassembling. Bait the trap. Re-insert the batteries and turn the trap on. If the same thing is still occurring, the trap may need to be replaced.

      Answer This Question

A:  Replacement parts for these traps are not available. If the metal plates have been cleaned and the trap is still not operating, then it would need to be replaced.

Q:We caught 4 mice. After each time we check the batteries & replace the bait (always wearing gloves for all of this). Now it makes a noise similar to the "zapping" that happened when the mice were zapped, and there are no mice, and the bait is untouched. After the zap noise, the red light does a very slow blink (not the light for battery issue) after the zaps have been heard. No mice, bait is untouched. We have moved the trap to a new location. Same same same. Help!

          Answer This Question

A:  Nina hearing zapping or snaping sounds without a mouse suggests to me there is either moisture or wet debri left inside. Sometimes an animal will pee or deficate after being zapped. You could try to clean the inside metal plates with alcohol allowing plenty of time to dry out. Of course do this without the batteries installed. Be carefull because the unit could still hold a charge. If that does not fix it then there is a defect and is arcing inside between components. In other words throw it away or try returning it.

A:  The plate needs to be cleaned. Left over...er... mouse... is gumming up the plate that conducts the electricity into the rodent.

A:  Generating thousands of volts from 6 volts is very common. There are electronc circuits inside that turn the dc battery voltage into AC. The AC voltage is applied to a transformer. The transformers design has a turns ratio of well over 1000 to 1. Basically it boosts the voltage to 1000's of volts. That high AC voltage is rectified back to DC and applied to a large capacitor where it is stored untill needed. The current (amps) is extremly low as a result of the transformation So low its not leathal to humans. Dont get brave it will still knock you on your rear.

A:  The internal components will convert the power from the battery into the voltage output that you should be seeing with the trap (between approximately 7,000 - 9,000 volts).

A:  Yes, the rodent will receive an electric shock. You would then dispose of the rodent in a trash receptacle or other appropriate means of disposal.

A:  If it's trash day yes. If trash day is more than one day away, is shake it into a sealable plastic bag, unless you enjoy that kind of smell.

A:  Possible. Not sure of the conductivity of a lizard skin and toes though. You got to try it first. Im not in support of killing lizards and such but I understand your issue. So as long as the lizard is long enough to contact the electrodes a Rat Zapper could work. You mentioned the word baby Iguana. If they are short, mouse short, then you might have to try the smaller mouse zapper. I know mice often get in and out of my Rat Zapper without injury. Hope this helps.
