Q:Is this the correct element for my 105 gallon Marathon tank (Model #MTS 105345B, Serial #0710 W 41327)? It's part of a solar water heating system and has only a single heating element. I tried calling Rheem customer service and was given the model numbers for three different 240-volt, 4500-Watt elements (SP610160 copper/13-3/8", SP213790 titanium/14", and SP213670 titanium/16-1/2"), but the operator couldn't tell me which one is the correct one for my tank. I'm guessing it's the SP213670 because it's such a big tank. I see that Rheem sometimes responds to these questions, so I'm hoping . . . .

A: I think this (below), finally, is the correct answer to my question. It's even got a case # (1027887) from Rheem tech support. It took a while.
Thank you for contacting Rheem. The correct part numbers for the MTS10534 are as follows:
Thermostat - SP213600
Element - SP213790

A: Yes. These elements are color coded. Black is for the lower position and red is for the upper. Titanium is by far the best and is LD (lower density) I have had mine in for 12 years with no problems but I bought a spare set just in case as I live in the sticks.

A: Without knowing exactly which element this is, it is difficult ti give a proper answer. It should be noted, however, that the upper element and lower element should not be interchanged.

A: The question that was sent to me does not indicate the part number of the 4500 watt element in question. For a 50 gallon Rheem Marathon water heater, the part number for the lower 4500 watt element is SP-213670. I have attached a clip of a parts list for Rheem water heater. I hope the attachment picture turns out.
Best of luck.

A: Not quite sure what your question is. The Rheem Marathon water heater models have different wattage heating elements. 3800, 4000 and 4500 watts. It depends on what model was ordered and installed. I would guess that it depends on available electric service capacity for water heating. I ordered and installed a 50 gallon with 4500 watts because that was replacing a unit of the same capacity and wattage. I have attached a snip clip of ordering information for Rheem Marathon parts. I'm not sure if the snip clip will show correctly when you try to view it. Hope this answers the question.

A: I installed this some time ago. It has worked flawlessly. The have been no issues whatsoever. Just be sure to keep the element regulated to a safe operating temp / wattage.

A: When a Rheem Marathon 85 gallon water heater is purchased, there are 3 wattage models available.
A 3000,3800 and 4500 watts. Whether you or your contractor opted for the 3800 watt model. There could have been a limitation for the electric service for the heater in the breaker panel.

A: And BTW, the model number tells it all. MR-Marathon, 85-Gallons, 2-Elements, 3800-Watts i.e. MR8523800

A: There are 3000, 3800, and 4500 watt versions of the MR85 Marathon water heaters.
