A:  NO ! I would never do that nor would I use 4x4 posts to carry any beam ! Use a 6x6 and and cut out a pocket for your bean then bolt thru ! I just wouldent trust this, also code now prevemts it

A:  POSSIBLY BUT IT WILL DEPEND ON THE LOAD THE ZMAX IS CARRYING. YOU CAN ALSO USE TWO PER LOCATION BY OVERLAYING TWO HANGERS AT EACH POST. I WOULD ALSO SUGGEST SCREWING THE JOIST INTO THE 4X4 POST.

A:  It will definitely work with a 2x4 and a 2x6 and probably with a 2x8 also but do not know for sure. You could double up the 2x4 ties or see if you can get one specifically for a 2x6 or 2x8.

A:  The capacity can be found in the simpson catalog for wood connectors. depends on screw size or nails used to fasten, and also wood species.

A:  When installed with a quantity of 8 - 16d common nails, the DJT14Z has a floor load of 1,160 lbs. and a roof load of 1,400 lbs. When installed with a quantity of 2 - 5/8" diameter machine bolts, it has a floor load of 1,220 lbs. and a roof load of 1,400 lbs. A:  Yes, this product recommends installing with 16d common nails or #10 x 2-1/2 in. strong-drive SD screws or a minimum of 5/8 in. diameter machine bolts to the post.

A:  Based on your description, its not clear if you are wanting to use the DJT14Z as it is intended to be used. This product is designed to attach 2x deck joists to the side of 4x or larger support posts (please see install pictures on product page).
