A: No, the handle is plastic.
A: The yellow handle isn't aluminum
A: The handle is made of strong metal - it doesn't say what type of metal, but it is sturdy.
A: The handle is steel with a plastic d-grip.
A: According to the label the handle appears to be steel (label info: DW SHVL,POLY,18IN,wWS,MM,D-TOP, STL ERGO HDL,KD). I love this shovel. I have an old one and wanted a spare so I was thrilled to find it again at Home Depot.
A: Yes! I ordered online and picked up in store. Nice, easy process.
A: Yes, that's what I did.
A: Yes, that's how I got mine
A: You should be able to see if your local store has it in stock when you order it. Whether its in stock , or needs to be ordered, I'd think you should be able to.
A: Yes - that is how I did my purchase.
A: The strip comes from the factory with the wear strip riveted to the shovel. You can probably fasten another strip if you can find one, but I have not been able to find one online, including on True Tempers web site. The wear strip will obviously be the first part to wear (no pun intended), but I would think with its thickness, that it will last a long time, and at $27, I can replace it every 10 years or so, if needed, with the average use in my Richmond, VA location based on our normal snow fall averages.
A: 'Tis very strong and so far, after three months, it shows no sign of wear.
A: If you're at least an average DIYer. The wear strip is riveted on, so you'll have to drill it off, then cut a replacement strip, drill holes to fit and rivet to the shovel. However, as economical as these are, I would simply buy a new one.
A: Yes. Please contact the AMES parts department at 800-393-1846 ext. 3588.
A: Not so far; shovel relatively new and the shovel surface not scraped up so no sticking issues. Used on both concrete and blacktop areas resulted in normal operation without inordinate friction.
A: Snow generally sticks less to poly blades than metal, however snowfall conditions vary greatly. It does not get hung on rough surfaces.
A: The snow does not stick to the shovel.
A: This shovel does not get hung up on rough surfaces (like, umm, driveways and sidewalks, the things that all shovels are made for but many do get hung up on), that's it's big selling point. It glides right over concrete. I like this so much I bought a second one for when my wife and I are both shoveling. I've noticed a tiny bit of snow sometimes sticks to it, but it's not been a big issue. Probably varies based on snow/weather conditions too. I highly recommend this shovel.
A: Snow doesn't stick very much - some but easily removable. It doesn't slide across cracks, but I don't know any shovel that does. I just tilt the front of the shovel up when going across my driveway cracks.
