Q:I used The Varathane American Walnut stain. Wish they made a wood putty to match their stain. I have tried their stick filler. The color doesn't match and the product is too hard. Is there another product out there that would be a close match? Thanks.

Q:I have a side table that has some cracks all the way across the top. I filled the cracks with wood stain so the crack matches the top. But I would like to fill the crack so that it is flat. Will this wood putty work for that? (Photo taken before staining)

          Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for reaching out! Our Varathane Early American Wood Putty is fairly close to the color of our Varathane Chestnut Wood Stain. Alternately, our Varathane Classic Wood Filler may be used prior to staining, since this is a stainable filler. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2 https://www.homedepot.com/p/Varathane-12-oz-Wood-Filler-340228/305626726

Q:Realized it's NON-hardening after a purchase and application on a primed door. It remains soft like kids' plasticine and will be gone if wiped with a damp cloth. Totally useless, please correct me if I'm wrong.
