A:  Hello! Water does pass through the landscape fabric. It doesn't pour through, but passes through gradually. Water will also gradually pass down around your river rocks and will then seep through the fabric. I hope that answers your question- just send another note back if not! Thank you!

A:  It does NOT drain fast. It drains very poorly forming a pool of water for hours making the bark decay very fast and weeds are happily growing on the top of the fabric in the decayed bark. I paid $83.98 :-(

A:  I use my screen under 2 - 3 inches of mulch and water (rain) passes right through it, however .... underneath my screen is Virginia clay which slows the water a lot. Water freely passes though the screen, but may NOT pass through the 'soil' directly under the screen. Good Luck with that.

A:  very little water passage. i bought this for an area in my backyard and regret buying this particular item as the water washes the mulch away. i have had to use a tool to poke holes in it so water will soak through

A:  A thin layer of pea gravel would work better for soil retention and would not degrade over time

        by|Apr 7, 2023

A:  I think it would work but over time it might deteriorate and not serve the purpose you were looking for. I do believe if you put down a double layer it would still be a barrier and keep separation between the dirt and stone base.

A:  I think so, but cant say for sure as i didn't use for that. I used mine as a weed barrier rather than a "soil barrier"

Q:My question is why is it shrinking ? I used it for the garden to cut out on weeding so much and I placed the ground cover as specified in the directions. I used a torched and can to cut the wholes in the cover so that the it wouldnt come unraveled or frail. I’ve planted my plants and now after a week the ground cover has began to shrink , in which is beginning to cut into and push over my garden plants. Nothing in the instructions says allow for expansion or shrinkage. I paid $70 a roll which is a lot of money to me plus the money I spent on plants in which there dying because of this issue. What do I need to do and who do I need to contact.

A:  Yes, absolutely. Air, water and nutrients can flow through the fabric. It's intended for garden use.

A:  Water pools on it for sure. Not sure what the rep was thinking saying it goes right through. Some might, but I just laid it and it rained over night and now 4 hours later, there are multiple pools of water on the surface.

A:  As long as you cut a large enough opening around your plants, the water will follow thru the barrier, otherwise it tends to pool the water on top and it takes a while to go thru.

A:  My husband and I prefer the plastic anchoring spikes over the staples. Rust was our issue. He preferred the longer fluted black ones and I like the shorter spiky ones.
