Bought this about 15 months ago. During that time it worked wonderfully. I went to use it today and the horizontal line would not turn on. Vertical works fine and levels. So I changed the batteries to make sure it wasn't that, it wasn't. Bosch is a reputable brand that I buy if I want something quality and to last a long time. Disappointed.

HAD THIS FROM SEP 2021 AND WENT TO USE IT TODAY, WHICH ONLY USED ABOUT 3 TIMES OVER ITS LIFE TIME. VERTICAL LASER DOES NOT WORK. CANNOT RETURN. MAYBE ONE DAY THEY WILL MAKE PRODUCTS THAT LAST?

Unfortunately the self leveling function in both the vertical and horizontal planes is pretty bad. Both on the ground and the bosch tripod (with manual leveling of the unit itself), the laser is inches off. I tried in pitch black as well with all curtains closed with the unfortunate same result. I was quite excited bought this unit along with the bosch tripod, hoping to create clear edging lines for painting on walls/ceilings. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to work at least in my environment.

I bought this line level to do a kitchen. Mainly to hang the cabinets. It worked wVery well. The only draw back is the storage bag is to small to accommodate the all of the accessories. I we’ll be using this on future jobs around the house. Overall this is a solid product. Bosch does it again!

Works great, easy to mount to tripod or other objects. Easily repeatable readings, gyro lock keeps everything safe while it is in the storage case.

The Bosch GLL50 self leveling laser level is a great tool to have. As the name states it is self leveling, and it blinks when it is out of its range, meaning when it can't self level. With an accuracy of 1/8" at 33 ft it can be used across larger rooms and still be very accurate. The self leveling can also be locked so that one can project a line that is at an angle. The set comes with a holder which makes it easy to clamp it to something and then fine adjust the position with the hand wheel. It also comes with a target which makes it easier to see the laser in daylight . The set also comes with a belt pouch for the laser level..

These types of tools have been out many years so the concept of them is not that new. I have never purchased one for my personal tools ant home but do use the company's on the job site quite a bit. Its a different brand and a whole lot more expensive. Its used in all aspects of construction from general carpentry to steel building construction. This model is a more user friendly compact type to be used in a bit smaller scale of job but can to all the same things within 50ft. Where this tool shines is in the home. we have used it in one month to layout and install kitchen cabinets, hang picture and photos on the walls, paint perfect boarders and stripes on the walls in the kids rooms, hang shelves in the bathroom and basement and list goes on. the self level feature is spot on, use may even discover your ceilings or wall being out of level which is good so you know not to use them as reference base points anymore. We had to layout a polka dot grid pattern in my daughters room and without this tool wouldn't have been able to accomplish it in the time we did and that's the room with the out of level wall and ceiling, but with this its perfectly laid out. Here are a few tips when you get it. .1 purchase the tripod along with it. so convenient and easy to make adjustments and setup anywhere. .2 when using it try not to put it in your immediate work space if you not on a concrete floor. if its on a sub floor, when you walk the laser with pick up the bounce in the floor and project that onto the wall. .3 always make sure you on the right setting cause the laser lock and auto level can look the same at first but be slightly of. 4. and lastly....Have fun with it and be creative with your projects. Friends and family are always amazed how straight and level we have things.

The 50 ft. Self-Leveling cross-line laser is great. The tool is built very solid, and comes with a stand for sitting it on the floor as well as mounting it to a tripod if you need it higher. The laser are very easy to see, and once you place the tool it levels itself quickly. It comes with a case as well for the tool to help protect it while not in use. This tool will come in handy when I need to hang things on walls so I can have them perfectly level while I am doing my work. This will just simplify my jobs so much. It works great and I tested it on various corners of my house, and it shows all of them to be square and straight (which is good). I am really enjoying this tool, and look forward to the many years it is bound to bring me.

This is an incredibly simple-to-use laser measure and positioning device. It used to be quite difficult to put up a new wall, or position a new window perfectly straight and level. It required a long processes of using hand held levels and trial and error until you got it right. With this tool it is very easy to ensure straight and level installs every time. Building anything that requires everything be absolutely straight and level is now much easier with this device. The Bosch GLL 50 has a self leveling function that that uses a smart pendulum leveling system and is as easy as turning it on and waiting a couple of seconds for it to self-level. The cross laser beams are perfectly perpendicular to give horizontal and vertical accuracy at the same time. I have used other laser leveling devises over the years that were crazy expensive and took hours to set up. This one is moderately priced and all you have to do is turn it on and start putting up walls. It comes with several options for placing it wherever it is needed to get the job done. You can just set it on the floor, you can attach it to existing structures with the clamp or magnets or temporarily screw it into a wall. You can use a camera tripod because it is very light (the tool only is right at one pound). You can attach the magnetic rotating mount to any ferrous metal object. It has a micro adjustable height positioning mechanism built in, so once it is securely placed, you can use the micro adjustment knob to get it to the exact height you need. You can use either the horizontal beam, the vertical beam or both. You can also choose between using the self level or locked positions. When in self leveling mode, the beams will flash on and off for a couple of seconds while it's leveling itself. After a couple of second the flashing stops and you know it is level and ready to go. It also has a target plate that improves visibility in for when in bright outdoor light. There is a vertical reflective strip on it to ensure you have everything perfectly lined up. It even has it's own protective pouch to keep it in when not in use. This tool is quite rugged. You wouldn't want to throw it down or let the tripod tip over, but normal usage won't harm the sensitive leveling mechanism.

Out of the box, this laser level is quite a bit larger than expected. This is by no means a bad thing, as the level performs its job accurately. The standard Bosch colors adorn the unit and the large red sliding power switch is easy to locate. The off/on switch is actually an off/on/on switch, as there are two ‘on’ modes: locked or unlocked. In unlocked mode, the internal pendulum is allowed to swing freely and the laser will self-level. In locked mode, the pendulum will not move, and the laser will not self-level. Keep in mind that the pendulum swing is limited to the body size of the unit, so don’t expect to put the unit on a 45 degree incline and have it level out. With my use, it has a tolerance of several degrees; enough to make up for a sloped shelf, work bench or an imperfect floor. There are two laser lines, one vertical, one horizontal. Two buttons on the back of the unit allow you turn either line on or off if you so desire. The lines are very easy to see even in a brightly lit bedroom. The level comes with a couple of accessories: a small stand (the M3 positioning device), a laser target, and a belt pouch. The belt pouch only just fits the level, making it a little awkward to carry around the stand and target if those are needed. The stand itself is awkward as well. A small thumb screw will attach the level to the stand, and small legs flip out to keep the stand a little more stable. But, the stand doesn’t allow for fine height adjustment on its own. You have to clip the stand to a wall and use the up/down thumb screw on the back to get height adjustment. Setting it on a table and going up/down will only incline/decline the level and is pretty much pointless. The clip itself is undersized in my opinion and will only clip to something small and thin--it does not even open wide enough to grab 3/4 inch. But, once you find something it can adhere to, the height adjustment will work and it is fairly precise. If you’re using it quite a bit, you’ll probably want to take advantage of the other accessories that are available for it as the included accessories feel almost like an afterthought to an otherwise great product. I haven’t dropped it yet, but I would suspect, based on the internal parts, that unless the pendulum was locked it would not fare very well. It uses AA batteries, which is both a pro and a con. I prefer tools with rechargeable batteries, however, I suspect the battery life of a laser LED will last quite long.

Overall this is a great laser leveler with self leveling feature that is super helpful! You can also, independently, turn on horizontal and vertical lines which is helpful for certain situations! It comes with a carrying case which seems to be great quality, the device itself fits snug int the carrying case, but i'm sure it will fit easier as time goes on. The instructions were not the best; but it is pretty self intuitive on how you use this, if not, there are videos on various social networks on how to use this tool.

This is a top of the range laser. Solidly built, accurate and super easy to operate, it is as worth the investment for the professional carpenter as for the weekend DIYer. Just touching this laser confirms that you made the right investment. Bosch's strong plastics give you this instant perception that "this tool is going to last forever". This is why my Bosh drill may be 12 years old but still my favorite. This laser comes with a "positioning device" and a handy small pouch. Easy to hook up a tripod (more on this below.) It is not a toy, there are multiple warnings that the laser can seriously damage an eye if use improperly. The beam is strong, At least inside. Outside, on a bright sunny day, I could not see a thing, which is an unavoidable issue with any laser. For outside projects, it may be worth investing in the "laser view enhancing glasses" from Bosch itself. Working on leveling tiles or kitchen cabinets is super easy with this laser. There are just two settings, "lock" and "unlock", which make operation extremely straightforward. I have nonetheless noticed that the laser can be a little finicky to settle in the "unlock" setting, e.g. in the automatic leveling mode, even with a solid and heavy tripod. I always ended up making it work, but I had to play quite a bit with the tripod, which surprised me. Overall, great product, highly recommend.

We needed a cross line laser level in order to install chair rail molding in our dining room. This product will make the project go super smoothly. It measures both horizontal and vertical lines as well as the cross line setting. It has a key pad operation and even monitors battery power. The positioning device is included and has feet that position in place. The device can be attached to a tripod which would be a separate purchase. A target is included, as well as 3 AA batteries. It measures up to 50 feet and also has a 2 year warranty. The BOSCH brand is second to none. Very dependable product.

This is a fantastic laser!! The self leveling feature is amazing. After owning an older laser without the self leveling feature, this is amazing. The laser will project both horizontal or vertical laser lines either at the same time or independent of each other. Very easy controls- there is a button for each line on the back of the unit. The laser comes with the three needed AA batteries. The unit comes with a very nice and heavy duty carrying case along with a mounting bracket with spring loaded clip. The laser isn't necessarily for construction use only. The laser is perfect for the DIY home decorator. The laser works perfect for lining up pictures on the wall or hanging wall fixtures. I would definitely recommend! Great Product!!

No I’m missing pieces

Horizontal line no longer works as noted by many people below. Silly response by Bosch “press the horizontal button” are useless. Build a product that works more than twice, or do the right thing and recall it. Too many of the same complaint…won’t get anymore of my money.

Just wasn't sturdy enough to hold level line. Had to return it.

The horizontal line stopped working after 3 uses. Of course it is out of the warranty period. Disappointed with the quality.

I guess it is the quality you get for the lower price.

Same problem with many people here, used 2 time within a year and lost horizon line. Bosch should recall this model

I used it on a project a year ago worked perfectly. Went and got it out of the case today and no vertical line. I spend my money on good tools and have had the best of luck with Bosch. This is disappointing. I have Bosch tools for over 25 years and still use them to this day. I'm hoping thus is a one off type of deal.

I bought laser level and tripod and it was a great deal. I used laser level to install kitchen cabinets. Worked perfect, I recommend this laser level and tripod.

Too complicated …. My husband returned it. Not user friendly.

So after the purchase a friend had a Bosch tripod that he let me use. I couldn’t connect the level to the tripod because the level didn’t come with the item that connects the level to the tripod.
