I have had two of these fans for 10 years and finally just had a problem with one of them. I was going to buy a replacement and saw these reviews. I was surprised to see negative reviews and figured I would provide my feedback. I have owned two of these for ten years. When one started getting loud, I took it apart and used an air gun to blast out all of the dust. Then it ran quiet again. You do not have to replace the whole fan unit. They are easy to take apart to fix or to replace the motor: - pull down the cover, undo the springs and remove cover (careful not to drop the glass globe) - remove the light bulbs - unscrew a nut with your hand and remove the inner white bulb assembly - unplug the bulb assembly from its socket - unplug the fan, and use a small Philips-head screwdriver to unscrew the fan assembly (holding the unit so it doesn't drop on your head while unscrewing) - slide out the motor Then, wipe the inside of the unit. Blast the dust out of the fan motor unit with an air gun/compressor or vacuum. A small tooth brush will also work. If you want - replace the motor (about $50) or just the dirty round fan portion (about $7). You don't need to buy a new fan that could mean a new/different hole in the ceiling and going up in attic. The fan lasted for 3 years. I had to replace fan blade and motor assembly because the fan blade came loose and started scrapping. Now the replacement motors go bad at around 2 years. I’m on my fourth replacement of motor and fan blade assemble. I am avoiding replacing the whole unit because of the plaster work that would need done. Be assured when I replace the whole thing the new one will NOT be a Nutone.

An okay fan for our tiny bathroom, just noisy. The old one (an earlier model of the same fan) had died, and our choice was to replace it with the same -- no carpentry, same size hole in the ceiling, same ductwork -- or get something else that would take a lot more work and expense. So we went with noisy but easy!

Great product have replaced motor several times so it would be great for the consumer if we could just buy replacement fan/motor after 1st. purchase or the old unit winds up being trashed or put in storage.

We had an 8 year old noisy NuTone.that we wanted to swap out the fan assembly. The fan part was swapped in 2 minutes, but the light section was not interchangeable. Fortunately the old light portion worked fine and it ended up only being a 10 minute total install.

They changed this model ever so slightly making it difficult to replace. It works but it’s very loud.

This is a replacement for the same model I purchased 20 years ago. The fan is listed as 3.5 sones on web site, documentation and fan itself lists it as 5.0 sones. If your looking for a real quiet fan this isn't for you. Also, sheet metal is much lighter causing the entire box to flex. Disappointe

This was a replacement for the exact same fixture, because the fan didn’t work. Install was straight forward. Fan didn’t work. Now, I need to determine if it’s a house wiring issue or if the fan on the new product doesn’t work.

It's not a great fan but it's the exact same model I bought 15 years or so ago. I took the new motor out of the box and swapped it out for the old motor that had burned out. Since the two units were the same model, I did not have to replace the housing. That saved me having to do any ceiling work.

After a shower, the walls are wet and mirror fogged, room is full of steam. Not taking exceptionally long showers. Not sure why the shower steam is not exhausting. The exhaust vent hose runs approx 6 ft on the horizontal (a straight shot from the fan exhaust port) to outside. I can feel a strong breeze outside at the outlet. Bathroom is small 6x9 ft. Fan works a little better with BR door wide open and about the same if cracked or closed. As strong as the fan is blowing outside a piece of tissue hardly gets sucked up on the grill on the inside. Even if I take the light kit out thinking nothing blocking the steam, no difference. It's loud but I'm OK with that. Are there other round exhaust type fans I can replace this one with if I can't get this to work?

Have replaced this fan or fan motor four times in the 15 years ive lived in my house.

Have 3 of these fan/light units in bathrooms during renovation. Worked fine until 2 out of 3 have fans give out and need replaced. See other product.

Great fan the light has regular light sockets for a screw in bulb in both standard size and a small one for a night light. Bought LED bulbs and I have the versatility of easily changing the bulbs if ever needed.

Good fan with easy to replace. But it regularly goes bad for a every couple years. I figured out to replace it with only the fan motor which costs about 45 to 60 dollars.
