The paver base is expensive but it is well worth it. My husband laid over 1400 sq. ft. of pavers at our last house and he is now doing about that at our new house. He didn't use paver base the first time and is using it this time. He said it makes laying the pavers so much easier. He would never lay pavers again without the paver base.

So far it has met expectations and saved us a ton of work on not hauling, dumping, and tamping gravel. We will see how it holds up but so far we are happy. Not to mention, we are amateurs so if it fails it is not NECESSARILY the product's fault. LOL!

Easy to install. Lightweight and perfect for a job that is far from a base rock dump zone. It is also faster to lay than rock, but your sand base needs to be PERFECTLY LEVEL. Unlike laying brick in sand, you can’t pound bricks flush with each other if there are inconsistencies. Also about 3x more expensive than base rock where I live.

Hit and miss
I'm going to get this out of the way first. There is absolutely no reality that exists where these panels are cheaper. Unless maybe what your doing is like 5 sqft and for some odd reason you still rent heavy equipment. Or you buy the most expensive road base you can find. Otherwise the claim of being cheaper is a flat out lie. I did a little less than 300 sqft. In a traditional install this would be maybe $350-$400 materials with delivery and disposal of old materials. That's probably on the high end. I need 60 of these panels. Which is almost $900 with tax. That's not even including the traditional 10% more recommended. This basically means I have about $4-500 to play with in a traditional install to even with these panels. I can rent a backhoe for almost a week with that and drive around town for fun. My point is theres a lot of wasted money by comparing this with a traditional install. I guess to be fair if your not a person who keeps track of there costs...you could spend more. But really...to my point you have to either suck at budgeting or purposefully go out of your way to spend money. Otherwise brock panels are not cheaper. I would really like to understand how they came to this conclusion. My only guess is what they really mean is it's cheaper than getting it contracted. I still question if that's true.
The second issue is ground preparation is key. This process is NOT forgiving. Not in the slightest. In a traditional install quarter inch maybe half inch here and there doesn't matter. For these panels it does. I would argue that a lot of the drudgery of site preparation is shifted from digging a big hole to ensuring the grading and leveling of the site is perfect. Easier certainly. But still a lot of work.
Otherwise I thought it was a well thought out product. The panels were easy to work with. I didn't have a small mountain of dirt. I feel like it was a lot less work over all. I like the fact that if I were to remove my project it would be easier. I'm not sure on the longevity of these, but I'm hopeful it will last a long time. I. Happy with how it turned out.

Excellent quality product. Sturdy enough to hold the weight of large patio/ paving stones. If you don’t have the right equipment to level out the ground surface, they are a good tool to have to see if they lay flat to the ground.

I have installed three paths in my front and back yards this year and these paver base panels have saved me a ton of digging. I have only had to dig down 3" for these great time and work saving panels. Once I tamp the ground down flat and put a half inch of sand down and screed it flat, these panels go on top of the sand and then I can put my cement pavers or bricks on top of the pavers and fill in the spaces in between the pavers with jointing sand and lightly water it in for a beautiful paved walkway. What a lifesaver these panels are.

Easy to install and easy to cut to size! Only time will tell the durability, but they make the paver installation easier. I was able to pull some out and adjust the sand level after initial installation which is a big plus.
