I have other breaker/digging bars but they don’t have the tamping head and none of them have the wide digging head. This head is pointed for cutting tree roots or debris, I’ll use the others for rocks or other things. I’ll use the tamping head to repack the dirt around fence post. The tamping end should help to protect your hand when digging close to something. I do have an old broken up sidewalk that I’ll be removing soon and I can see where this will work perfectly to get under the pieces and lift them up. I can then use a sledge hammer to break them into smaller piece. I may have to get the 69” version of this tool next.

Made in the USA! Durable heavy duty too. It wasn't until recently I had demonstrated to me the proper way to use post hole diggers. Shazam! With this tool, life on the end of post hole diggers may be tolerable, even in firm soil or clay. This tool is great for breaking up the soil by jabbing it into the ground, then removing the broken soil with the post hole digger. Can't tell you how well this works compared to just digging with post hole diggers. It weighs about 12 pounds and is a beast for breaking up... whatever. Wish I'd had one of these years ago. Highly recommend.

Own a breaker bar? Then you know how tiresome they can be on some projects. This tool was a treat while using in my yard recently. Planting a half dozen Hosta plants in bone dry blue clay littered with rocks. Normally I would use my breaker bar, but this digging bar made the job much easier. Number one, it is just as solid as the breaker bar, but maybe 1/2 to 2/3 the weight. Secondly, the beveled chipper end is wide enough to get results. Likely twice as wide as the breaker bar. The tamping end helps when digging as it prevents your hand from slipping. My main use for this tool will be when doing concrete work on patios, walkways, etc. as the tools digging end will help with finish digging and the tamping side will be used as a rebar hammer. This is one of those tools you will find a lot of uses for and it is a great alternative to breaker bars. Highly reomend it.

I really dig this nice heavy digging and tamping bar. 4 feet long is a tad awkward for deep holes but workable and for most uses this is perfect. Heavy enough (just under 12 lbs) to make digging and tamping easy but not too heavy and short enough to store and transport easily. Ever try and get a 6 foot digging bar in your car trunk or in the back of an SUV without folding a seat down. The bar is a full 1" diameter. the tamping head is 3" diameter and the digging head is 3" wide with the bevel on only one side so you can use it as a scraper also. The bar is well made with excellent welds on both ends and should hold up to nearly any abuse you can put it through.

I used this Bully Tools 48" long steel bar to remove a 6" dia. x 15' long tree limb. The limb was half buried. I had no problem driving this 3" wide x 5" long x 3/8" thick chisel end of this 48" long steel bar under the overgrown weeds, grass, & dirt. Without a sledge hammer & using It's nearly 12 pound weight for forward momentum, It was enough for me to thrust the bar under the limb & leverage it up & finally out of the ground. I quickly cleaned off the overgrown soil from the limb using the chisel end of the steel bar. This 1" dia. steel bar did not flex, or bend. I also installed an additional support post in my barn. I used this steel bar's 3" dia. x 3/8" thick flat end to tamp down the 50/50 mixture of 3/4" minus rock & dirt, I used as fill around the post. Every 4 -5 inches of the dirt & rock mixture height, I put into the hole, I tamped it down. Again, the nearly 12 pounds of weight impacted the mixture & solidly compacted it down. The chisel end & the round tamping end are attached to the steel bar with thick welds, around the entire attachment. This is a high quality, heavy duty tool.

It's a little under 12 lbs. but it feels heavier, I must be getting older. The tamping end measures 3 in. in diameter. The spade end has a nicely beveled chopping edge that measures 3 in. wide at its broadest width and about 3 in. deep to where it attaches to the pole. I ordered this mainly to use as a tamper when installing fence posts but it also works well as a pickaxe for breaking up hard soil and as a lever for digging out large rocks. This thing is built tough and I'm sure it's indestructible. There's a convenient hole drilled in the spade blade for hanging the tool. This one is 48 in. long but Home Depot also stocks these Bully Tools in 69 in. length with a weight of 16 lbs. As I would expect for an American made tool of this quality Bully Tools offers a Limited Lifetime Warranty on this product.

This 48 inch, digging bar is the ideal tool for removing those stubborn tree stumps that have been plaguing me for years. This bar is American made, and is the right length for all those yard chores needing this type tool. It is well made, heavy wels attach the blade to the bar on both sides. The round tamping end is also a comfortable size for holding and controlling the bar each time you thrust it into the ground. It is long enough to use as a lever without all that weight of the old longer bars.

So far, it has been very helpful in digging the holes I needed in my very rocky soil! I bought it specifically so I could set several poles to wrap "deer netting" around some of my plants. So far, so good!

A handy tool to have at hand
A good tool. Not much not to like about it. The 48-inch length was enough for what I needed it.

It OK but little heaver than I though it would be. It can (so far?) take a beating with a ten pound sledge hammer. Probably could use a good sharpening on my grinder to make it better.
