Hi Merri, we're sorry to hear that you were surprised that the tiles were so thin. We put "Feather-Light" right in the product name, our first bullet point says " Vinyl tile is surprisingly thin (0.013-inch) but amazingly strong and durable", and we also mention that they're "about the thickness of a business card". While they are thin, they're certainly not "Flimsy". Since they're made from a rigid vinyl material, they're quite sturdy despite their light weight. ASTM testing shows them to be "an order of magnitude more durable then mineral fiber ceiling tiles". We do appreciate that you gave them a try in your home. Ceilume

They were a drop ceiling game changer! They provided a fresh new look for a very tired & sagging plain Jane drop ceiling! Would recommend highly!

Do not buy!
They will sag and also fall just from the wind from opening a door.

Hi OMcD, thanks for sharing your thoughts on the Ceilume's Stratford ceiling tiles. The Stratford is Ceilume's best selling ceiling tile in large part because of their durabiltiy and ease of installation. Sagging and falling out of the ceiling are definitely unusual and we'd really like to help you figure out why this is happening.

If you're using a narrow "Slimline" grid, that would be a cause for the tiles dropping out. The Stratford should only be installed in a standard 1" or 15/16" suspended ceiling grid. Please give Ceilume a call at 800-557-0654 to discuss your installation. Ceilume

Thin like paper. When I turn my AC on the suction from the AC makes the first two panels suck up into the ceiling. When the AC goes off they go back down. It did not meet my expectations. It's so thin like a plastic red drinking cup. These are not the panels that I had originally I should have stuck to the original one. But I wanted to try something different. My husband had already started cutting them before I realized how thin they were. I won't buy these again. But they're better than nothing.

Hi Che7, we're sorry to hear that you were surprised that the tiles were so thin. We put "Feather-Light" right in the product name, our listing states that they're .013" of an inch thick, and also mentions that they're "about the thickness of a business card". While they are thin, they're certainly not flimsy. Since they're made from a rigid vinyl material (one of the most popular construction materials and vastly different than polystyrene drinking cups), they're quite durable despite their light weight. ASTM testing shows them to be "an order of magnitude more durable than mineral fiber ceiling tiles". All Ceilume ceiling tiles are made in the United States and are Class A fire rated, GreenGuard Gold certified for Indoor Air Quality, and are impervious to moisture. Considering all of that, we think they're a bargain and hope that over time you'll come to love them in your home. Ceilume

Ceiling looks great, was easy to cut pieces, but these ceiling tiles are not sound proof at all.

Cheap price, easy to cut. Too light to fully weigh down and close any gaps between the frame and the tile. Good tile as a couple year temporary ceiling.

Looks great and the flexibility of the products makes installation easier, however it is much thinner than initially thought and you must be aware of its limited ability to hold weight.

Very flimsy. I would never buy them again.

Hi Gary, thanks for sharing your thoughts on Ceilume's Stratford Ceiling Panels. The Stratford panels are definitely flexible when handling them, which makes them easy to install in tight spaces, but they're certainly not flimsy. ASTM testing has shown that Ceilume ceiling tiles are an order of magnitude more durable than standard mineral fiber tiles. When you factor in that the Stratford tiles are Class A Fire Rated, GreenGuard Gold Certified for indoor air quality, don't harbor mold or mildew, and are made in the US from US sourced materials, we think they're a bargain. Thanks for giving them a try and for sharing your honest opinions with us. Ceilume

Unfortunately, we can’t use it because it is so light and flimsy that it can’t hold canless lights. I like the way it looks though, and if we didn’t have a lighting issue, I probably would have gone with it.

Hi Jessica, thanks for sharing your thoughts on Ceilume's Stratford 2x4 ceiling tiles. We're happy to hear that you like the looks of the tile and we do understand that the tiles are light - we put Feather-Light right in the product name. It's important to note that the International Building Code requires that all lights, speakers, HVAC grilles, etc must be supported by the ceiling grid or the structure above. Ceiling tiles should never be used to support any of those items. The good folks at you local Home Depot store have a variety of can light housings and LED light supports to keep your ceiling code compliant and looking good. (LED puck lights do require an extra step for proper installtion with the Stratford ceiling tile). We do appreciate you giving Ceilume tiles a try in your space. Ceilume

Hi Jeff, we're sorry to hear that you were disappointed by the thin nature of the Stratford ceiling panels. The very first thing we mention on our listing is "Vinyl panel is surprisingly thin but amazingly strong" In the product description we share: "Ceilume Stratford panels are formed from a thin sheet of vinyl that is only 0.013 in. thick, about the thickness of a business card" Stratford panesl are made from one of the most widely used construction materials: vinyl (paper is much thinner and less durable) ASTM testing has shown that Ceilume ceiling tiles "are an order of magnitude more durable than mineral fiber tiles". Yes, the panels do flex when being handled which makes it easy to fit them into tight spaces. Once installed in a suspended ceiling grid, they'll last for years and years. And since they don't absorb humidity, they won't sag over time like mineral fiber ceiling tiles. We do appreciate you giving them a try in your home. Ceilume
