Only received half the smoker, couldn’t even put what I had together because all the screws were in the 2nd box that was lost in transit. All Home Depot customer care could do was get me in touch with Char griller who wouldn’t help unless I took pictures of what I had and gave them a detailed account of what I was missing after I registered my smoker so I could use my warranty for the “replacement parts” I told them I didn’t want to call them replacement parts considering I never received them in the first place. After all that, two weeks later, I got all the parts except the lid to the fire box and the fire box had a few areas where the paint was peeling off. Char griller is great at sending you the parts you are missing, but now that summer is almost over and I’ve had a half smoker taking up space in my garage for over a month now, I feel like maybe Home Depot and char griller should be figuring out how to get my order correct instead of me doing all the problem solving, Im the guy that paid to have Home Depot deliver me a smoker and now I feel like I’m a member of char griller’s product management team. I’m not the sort of guy to write reviews, Im not even mad anymore even though I still don’t have my missing parts. Just baffled about how little Home Depot did to fix this situation and how much problem solving I had to do. Still more mysteries and wrong or defective parts being sent to my house, Im a few welding classes away from building my own smoker, I definitely have enough material to do it.

Great product for the price. Probably the best in class. However, the manufacture is horrible with communication. Home Depot provided the best customer service with product details. I could not count on the manufacture. I highly recommend sealing all seams with RTV before using. Mine leaked oil everywhere on the floor after seasoning. All the joints are only welded to hold the sections together, not to provide an actual seal. Also be careful when putting together. Use a phillips instead of hex where apply, as the nuts are very easy to accidentally strip.

After it rusted after 3 months, I also had it covered with the chargriller cover when I'm not using it. I contacted chargriller to warranty it. They refused. I will never purchase a char griller product again. I seasoned it the way the recommended also.

Don’t trust home delivery…
I ordered this smoker delivery to my home because the boxes were large and heavy enough that I didn’t want to mess with whether or not they would fit in my car. I did NOT order my item pre assembled. I received my smoker pre-assembled and in terrible condition, dirty, screws and bolts loose. I’m pretty sure the delivery guys just grabbed a floor model and put it on the truck. Didn’t receive any of the original boxes or paperwork so I can’t even take the thing apart to return it.

This is a solidly built smoker. It's heavy and takes a few people to pick it up. As others mentioned the fit of the doors is not as good as it could be and the felt gaskets are somewhat anemic for this smoker. I used a plastic mallet and a few well placed blows sealed most of the leaks. I will add better gaskets in the future. I've only had it a few hours

Came broken, Char Giller customer service is awful
The smoke came all scratched up and the main cover was bent out of shape so it would not seal. Took months to get a replacement that was worse than the original. It was obviously bent so there is no quality control even on parts that are being sent out to fix issues. Still waiting around 2 months for the next replacement.
Customer support exclusively communicates over email, pretty much each email is a 24 hour turn around even if you respond in a timely manner.

Well Built but with a couple of glaring mistakes.
This smoker is very well built. Solid construction, good seals, and well balanced. I like the fact that the heat baffle/deflector is movable and removable. It allows for adjustments ( I preferr mine to be straight out and not angled down).
I also like that there is a charcoal rack in the bottom of the main chamber that allows you to grill with this unit as well as smoke.
I do wish the charcoal tray was hight adjustable though.
My biggest complaint is that the firebox does NOT have the ability to put grates in it (like the old country does and the smaller models from Char Griller).
I like to reverse sear and having grates in the fire box is critial to getting that accomplished without having to build yet another fire in the main body or using another grilling unit. This was a big omition on Chargriller's part.

This smoker has enough performance and quality built-in, that a novice can expect some awesome barbecue results and an expert will appreciate it's engineering and performance features.
Both beginners and experts will agree, the 8250 is Performance Bargin!

Close to perfect
This grill is a tank. It's big, heavy, and built to last. If it didn't suffer from a couple basic usage flaws, it would be perfect. I upgraded to this grill from one of Char-Griller's smaller models about four years ago, so I've been using this grill for a good long time now.
Pros: As I mentioned, the size and build quality are really impressive. I wanted a heavier construction, and this grill delivers. The heavy gauge metal helps keep temps steady while smoking -- important if you smoke in the spring or fall or get caught in some rain in the middle of a couple racks of ribs.
Cons: Unfortunately, this is a big one. The main cooking grate is huge, and it's all one piece, so the whole thing has to come out as one. This is a problem if you need to add any charcoal mid-cook, and with a grill this large, there's a good chance of that. I find myself using more coals than I think I'll need just to be sure the fire won't wind down mid-cook. With the grate being this large, it's also started to sag a bit in the middle - I know I'll need to get a replacement soon. If this grate wr constructed with three panels, I'm pretty sure I'd be happy with this unit for a long, long time. For bonus points, it would be really nice to be able to raise or lower the coal rack to move the fire closer or further from the cooking grate, but that's not nearly as vital as fixing the main grate.

Grill arrived with lots of scratches on it. There's huge gaps in all the doors so I had to buy an entire new gasket set and try to seal up the doors. There's gaps around the ends in-between the welds. So lots of air leaks,scratches and modification needed for a brand new grill that cost $600. Was very disappointed with the quality of the grill.
