Very easy to install and worked well with clopay garage door with hardware

This kit is a life saver of you have a lower ceiling. The kit was expensive but an excellent option. Instructions were mediocre but okay. The fit was not great. I had to mess around with it a lot to get things to work smoothly. Track was about 1/2" off where it met the main vertical track. But now it works okay.

Used for Liftmaster 8500 Wall-Mounted Opener In order to use a wall-mounted Liftmaster 8500 garage door opener, I needed to have a starter angle on the top rail so that my pull-back sectional garage door would glide back when lifted. This did exactly what I needed it to do on my existing double-rail track. On my existing horizontal top rail, I chiseled out the rivets that held it to the bottom rail and bolted on the new starter angle that came with this kit. I had to drill a few holes, but the carriage bolts that came with the kit were easily fastened without interfering with my door rollers. I adjusted the existing top garage rollers to align with the new starter angle. Took about an hour to install because I wanted to be sure I was doing it right. I had a lot of unneeded parts left over, but the kit had all the rail parts I needed to do the job. Make sure you have a chisel, hammer, pliers, screwdriver for popping out the chiseled off rivets, plus metal drill bits and a socket set. Having a drill bit that fits your sockets is handy too. Optional but not necessary, use a hacksaw or reciprocating saw to even out the rail ends when finished.

I installed the new clopay door and it was relatively easy. However I needed the low clearance kit so I went to Home Depot and bought one of three remaining kits. It was two weeks later due to a death in the family that I opened the box only to discover four of the ten pieces were missing along with the instructions. I selected the best of the three boxes at the store because they all were obviously repackaged. This is quite frustrating since the pieces contained on the box are clearly shown on the outside of the package. Anyone working there should have identified the fact the package was incomplete. Since I don’t trust HD personnel and their ability to ensure the items purchased are present when re packaging, I will order online, be forced to pay the additional shipping fees and wait a week or more to finish the garage door project losing the functionality of the doors. It is a simple task to check repackaged products but apparently this did not happen. I should have listened to other reviews from those who had this same issue. Very frustrated!

Everything was pre drilled, matched perfect. Instructions were simple and easy to follow. When finished, door worked great, was quiet and gave me the headroom I needed for the doors.

Colpay is the worst vendor Home Deport has. Expect nothing and get worse.

The low headroom kit assembles easily enough. The instructions required one to reference the door installation instructions for some steps. Read the instructions at least twice before proceeding. There is little room for adjustment. Bring a dremel or grinding point for your drill. The kit works great though.

It came with a missed top bracket. I called customer service for replacement and they said they would send it to me as soon as possible and it took 10 days for it

Very poor experience, both ordering and assembling the low headroom kit. Had to special order 4 times, as each time the kit showed up to Home Depot missing parts. Kit itself was difficult to install with directions provided, I found it easier to figure it out on my own. Would not recommend unfortunately.

The package had obviously been purchased, opened and poorly taped back together before being returned. This was my second attempt at purchasing this with the same results both times from Home Depot.

Missing important pieces

I bought 2 Clopay 9’x7’ garage doors online from Home Depot to replace my 2 existing 9’x7’ garage doors. Not until I almost finished installing the first door did I realize that the top horizontal track was much higher than my existing track, causing the door to contact the opener arm and pipes just under the ceiling joists. No where in the Clopay ad did it state the high clearance requirement. Going back to Clopay, I discovered they had a Low Headroom Conversion kit and ordered two! Trying to install them was exceptionally difficult. Connecting holes didn’t match and drilling new holes was difficult!

Returned did not work for my door got a kit that did!

Direction could be a lot better, especially when matched with a Clopley door.

They hate their customers, they could make their hardware and instruction manuals for each door, but they expect the customer to adapt.

Product is great could not complete the job without them. It is a top quality product and made the job really easy.

The kit will work but had to be figured out and changed because instructions are worthless. Parts need to be removed from standard door tracks but instructions do not mention this. Other parts in kit are not explained or pictured in the instructions at all.

the kit worked good after we finally got the hardware bag from CLOPAY. the instruction sheets were crummy. Jumping back and forth between original and kit. very confusing. Need revised! Not all parts were needed.

The Clopay Low head room does work and works well. The Doors themselves are great. BUT being sold by Home Depot it is targeting DIYers like myself. And the Instructions are quite lacking. 1) the holes do not line up on some heights of doors, requiring you ignore the instructions and drill them yourself. 2) The Low Head Room Pully System will make the springs scrape the tracks on the way up and down every time if you follow the instructions. The Pully runs and attachment points are 1/2 inch from the side of the track but the springs are 2 inch Diameter, 1 inch radius means 1/2 inch rub. You will need to change the rear attachment points to avoid or minimize the rub. Which could be Very difficult with low head room.
