First rate wire shelving
This is the second time I've purchased this product from Home Depot and I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again. The quality is good, it's well designed and well made. The shelves have adequate capacity for the materials I intend to store on it and it's attractively painted with a thick coating. I like the fact that it comes in two widths so that I have the option of different sizes for different applications. It's not difficult to install but I'd recommend some planning before purchase to determine exactly where the header (horizontal support bar) and standards (vertical supports) will be placed. If you're going to put heavy materials on the shelves, you'll need to provide adequate support by screwing into studs for the headers and standards. This stuff is too heavy to rely on plastic anchors in dry wall to hold it once you put any weight on the shelves.

Best shelving product out there!
I've only lived in two houses in my adult life. I bought an Elfa shelving system for my home I owned and it was very nice, but also expensive too. I bought this Closetmaid system and was just as satisfied and spent less too when I redid my other closets in the house. When I moved and rented a house, I also made sure to redo the closets with Closetmaid's shelving product. When I return to being a homeowner soon, i will certainly outfit my house with Closetmaid shelving in the future.

great shelf, but the color description is misleading
The shelf works well and is strong as described, but including the word "chrome" in the color description is misleading because it is vinyl covered and is not "chrome". Other closetmaid shelves describe the color as "nickel", but they do not have a nickel finish, but a vinyl finish.

Really Holds Up
I just hung one of these shelves in my garage for storing boxes of seasonal decoration that ended up being surprisingly heavy. The rail that holds the standards the shelf supports attach to hangs very similar to other garage storage and organization systems. I already have a Rubbermaid organization system installed in my garage, but would have needed another rail to add shelves and the closetmaid unit was available in my local store. But make no mistake, this shelf system is not cheap to install if you don't cut corners! A single shelf requires 5 standards, 5 shelf supports, a rail and the shelf. You will also need drywall anchors if your standards, like mine, do not align with the studs where you want the shelf. Adding a second shelf once you have the rail and standards makes the installation a much better value, however we wanted the shelf to be high enough that we could walk under it, so only put in one shelf. I absolutely am blown away by the strength of this shelf. Every component feels rock solid and when installed 16" apart the supports hold the shelf in place with absolutely no bending or play in the structure. I did hang the rail across 5 studs and put 75lb drywall anchors in the holes between, and also used two 75lb drywall anchors in each standard to ensure they were absolutely rigid. Once installed, I hung all of my 250+ lbs from the shelf to confirm its strength, and have absolutely no doubt that the shelf could support two people of my size hanging from it at the same time. While not cheap, it is a great looking way to add storage space in otherwise unused space on the wall of your garage.

indispensable for my garage storage.
I have installed many shelves in my garage as well as bedroom closets. This product really holds up well. It's also quite easy to install.

this product is strong and easy to install. Being able to adjust the shelves as needed is an outstanding feature.
Two associates assisted me in mypurchase. There where not enough shelves on the rack. They found additional shelves on the top rack, they got them down, helped me figure out the required parts for my project. Help load the parts on a cart and loaded the parts on my truck. Great service.

Great for showing off collectibles
The shelf is pretty wide and LONG, and it holds my collectibles VERY nicely. I does have "slats" for airflow, and I'm perfectly fine with that! This shelf is also paintable to blend in to your decor!

Sturdy, easy to put up
Even though my need for shelves was in the garage, I was looking for something nicer/different than than standard white wire shelving. These fit the bill perfectly - the nickel coated hardware and matching gray shelves look very different than the white variety. Reasonably easy to put up (needed a stud finder and a laser level) and very sturdy (I followed the 16" spacing recommendation)

    Disappointed
We were kind of bummed to find that we installed the brackets to go with these 32in apart to begin with (every other stud in our garage) and it started sagging when we put totes on them. We had to buy more of the heavy duty bracket things and we installed them every 16in. It seems to work well, but I highly doubt it would hold 600 pounds! I wouldn't even let my 200 pound husband lay on it to test them. - We wish the shelves didn't sag, now we just added about $500 more to our garage project!

      Works great
Bought this shelf along with 4 tracks and 4 brackets. Mounted the tracks directly into the wall studs. With the amount of support I put up, the shelf holds quite a bit of weight without sagging at all. I have several of these shelving systems in my house and would highly recommend them.

Used for 3 foot wide pantry closet.
These shelves did a much better job of holding the heavier load. I got the shelves designed to hold less at the first, but they sagged somewhat with the load on them. Still, even with the short 3 foot width, I wanted to make sure there would be no problems later on, so I put an angle brace to shore up the middle of the shelves and am quite satisfied with the results. I guess I could have shored up the other shelves that way also, but I have another place to use them with a lighter load now.
