When I bought the ply wood it was Visually good but wen I cut into it it had hollow spaces in the middle of the ply. Vary unhappy with the quality of wood at my local Home Depot.

Good quality plywood I like this plywood a lot. This is what I use when building custom cabinets from Red Oak. There are very few voids, no knots, and a consistent veneer. The veneer is smooth and does not tear out with a good quality blade. This does well with pocket holes, butt joints, dado and rabbet joints. It stains pretty well (not as well as the maple, in my opinion). This is a good quality, stable, durable, and good looking plywood that's good for cabinets and furniture.

This is a piece of junk! The oak veneer on this plywood is the thickness of a piece of paper and when ripped it shatters on the cut line. Even when tapping the cut line it shatters. Because the veneer is so think you cannot sand the edges because you will sand away the oak veneer. Do not buy this product! I would not recommend this product to anyone.

I have bought and used this plywood for several cabinet projects. I have built several cases with it and find it better than most. It finishes well, has few voids, veneer is acceptable as long as you are not heavy handed. I also like the 1/2 inch for door panels. Little movement and looks great. All of it stains great, takes HVLP applied finishes very well too.

I have been building cabinets for 30 years. I used this plywood for a couple of projects but will not again. The veneer on this is extremely thin and easy to sand through. I've also found some voids in it that has really caused some problems.

          So far I'm impressed
So far I'm really impressed with this 3/4 inch x 4 ft x 8ft PureBond Red Oak plywood. I am building a flip-top-tool stand which will have my wood planer on one side and my dovetail machine on the other side. I have made over a dozen cuts so far from four inches long to thirty-one inches and have only found one void. And that void was only about two inches long and 1/2 inch deep. So right now I have to say this plywood is worth the price.

          Red oak Plywood
I need to make a couple of end panels for our kitchen cabinets. The cabinets are made of particle board and over time have become unsightly. This plywood will allow me to make a custom look end panel that is durable and looks good for very little effort expended. The Plywood has a nicely grained face and although it is very thin veneer, there is enough there to take a nice finish and give me the look I want.

Absolutely Beautiful! TOP QUALITY & Looks It! Great For Cabinet Doors!
I ordered this plywood to custom build my own cabinets due to the miss shaped kitchen walls. I was worried about ordering online, however they were shipped directly to my home without any issues! Communication was quick & friendly & helpful too. This Plywood is Absolute Top Quality! Smooth to the touch without any mars on the face at all. Very Hefty feel also and they weigh in at approximately 72-75 lbs each! Upon working with the sheet it cut well & held the fasteners quite well. Some Red Oak Stain to bring out the grain & Voila - Awesome Cabinet Doors!

          Very nice grain pattern
Huh! I did not expect the veneers on this to be of the best quality for what it was, low-cost red-oak plywood bought at a large retailer instead of a specialty provider, but I received a wonderful shock when I finally saw it. Plywood is typically graded on the quality of its veneer,s and the cost difference between different grades is usually much more than the uninitiated expect. A board with one A-grade side typically costs as much as twice the price of a board whose best side only rates a C. In most rating systems, the front side receives a letter grade, the back side receives a number grade, so the very best plywood boards are rated A1 and typically cost more than twice the price of what a more common C3 board sells for. This is because plywood veneers are cut in multiple ways -- the most common (and cheapest) is that it is peeled in thin sheets off a rotating log. Typically, this leads to unnatural-looking grain patterns in the plywood, which make plywood manufactured in this way unsuitable for appearance purposes. In no other North American hardwood plywood is this as important as it is with red oak plywood, with its extremely strong grain pattern. The difference between a red oak plywood board with one or two really nice veneers suitable for appearance purposes and a board with two strange-looking veneers that is only useful for internal structural elements is perfectly obvious even to those who know next to nothing about wood. This board's best side could clearly pass muster as a B board and be used for an appearance panel for smaller elements. I was shocked. This is listed as a C3 board on homedepot.com. I did not expect to get this quality at this price point, and have paid much more for a similar-looking oak veneer in the past. Cutting into the board to take it down to the 2ft. by 4 ft. project panels I most typically use plywood for, I expected plenty of internal voids and other issues, but this was surprisingly nice stuff. Thank you, Columbia Forest Products! This is an exceptional plywood board at this price point, far better than I expected. Something of this quality can certainly be used to build a stain-grade cabinet or a case, or it can be use to replace the side panel of an oak vanity or dresser, and the end product will look better than just OK.

          Very nice sheet of wood.
I'm using the 3/4 inch purebond red oak plywood on a project for my wife. It is very nice grain. It will look fantastic when I get finished and coat it with urethane. It was delivered when I was away from the house for a doctors appointment. The delivery driver was easy to work with and he put it where I asked. It shows on the shipping label to weigh 60 pounds. This was wrapped with a sheet of 1/2 inch plywood on each side to protect it from shipping damage. I would guess that it weighed close to 120 pounds. I was impressed that Home Depot would take that much care. Thank you Home Depot.

          Awful
Having a bad experience with the Blue competitor's Oak plywood I decided to try Home Depot's. I ended up getting some Birch, which was a very good sheet for my project. I went back and got the Oak. What a piece of junk. De-lamination of plies, plugs which made the thickness different in places around the edges, an absolutely ridiculous gluing of the veneer, which is paper thin. In seeing this upon close inspection I decided to trace a razor cut along every line I had to cut through (lots of circles). I'm glad I did. Still, while my sheet stayed true and flat it was two days of disgust dealing with ripping and shredding veneer when I placed an 1/8" round-over bit to the edges, trying to repair spots, and ultimately a ruined, sub-standard project. I don't know where HD (and their competitor) get this stuff but, it is the worst I have ever used in 40 years of woodworking.

Purebond means pure air for my family!
I love the fact that a company has come out with formaldehyde free plywood! I will only use Purebond Plywood in my projects, not only because of the air quality reasons but also because this plywood is truly beautiful to look at and it stains just as gorgeous as it looks! I have probably used 5 sheets at various times and I have been pleased every time! There are very few voids and I have never had a problem with it splintering. All in all I say go grab some Purebond and start building!!!

          Avoid this product
Purchased four sheets of the red oak for bookshelves and regretted it. The oak veneer is so thin that while doing light sanding edges would disappear and the plywood veneer beneath came through. This occurred at edges and in the field where the material should not sand through. Because I was committed to the project I had to blow through material, hide damage and really work hard to make this material useful. Also found numerous blemishes in my shop that I didn't see at the store, thats my fault but if you are buying this material despite this review go through the pieces carefully before loading them up. Despite pre-cutting all my cross cuts with a razor knife then using my table saw or miter saw to make the through cut, the material would chip leaving a very messy edge for me to fix or redo…not a happy builder when you blow through costly sheets of material. I know its not my equipment as I use high end tools with high end blades and capable hands while using them. This is another HD material that looks like a deal but when you actually start working with it you realize you made a bad choice.

          good plywood
I went to hd intending to buy birch plywood. This red oak veneered plywood was the same price. Bought two sheets each of 1/2" and 3/4" plywood. I'm building a cabinet with slide out trays, so I needed to break the sheets down prior to cutting to final dimensions on my table saw. I was struck by the lack of voids in the sheet stock. I found 2 in 4 full sheets. One was a knot from the poplar core and the other was small. If you've bought much plywood lately, you know this is unusual. This is good plywood and worth the money.
