Tape was flimsy. Was expecting it to extend "stand out" better. Catch to hold tape from retracting doesn't work very well. Bought this to replace an old Stanley 35' that was very old and performed many years, very well. Had I been nearby where I purchased it, would have returned it-

Protecting coat
Good tape measure. Not the best when it comes to the protecting coat. The numbers started to peel off after a few days at work.

Worst Tape Measure Ever
I purchased the 35' Dewalt tape measure because it has the magnetic tip and was 35' long as well as having a lock to hold it out. This turned out to be the worst tape measure I have ever had. When I would pull it out about anything less than 4', it was bound up and I had to push the tape back in as it wouldn't come out easily either. It finally broke when it was jambed and I tried to get it back in so now it is a paper weight. I will never purchase another Dewalt again. I would like to give it less than 1 star but it won't let me.

Blade bent permanently just in a week of use measuring...
Blade bent permanently just in a week of use measuring form boards. Light use at that. I’ve been having way better results with my Stanley Fatmax. 4 weeks strong so far.

Broke within 3 months. Warranty is a pain.
I've always had good luck with DeWalt tools. Not this one. The tape cracked within 3 weeks and then broke completely a few days later. Looks like you have to mail in the broken one at your own expense. I have a better idea, I'll just start buying another brand of tools.

Works exactly like a good tape measure should...except the lock....
Works exactly like a good tape measure should...except the lock. The lock just about requires a pryer to unlock. That is true for every version of this tape I have run across. DeWalt has to know it’s impossible to use yet they don’t fix it. The only reason I purchased it was because the Stanley FatMax was out of stock. Get that one instead.

No recoil
This tape measure out the package does not recoil and to be forced back in. I went to the store and randomly picked up 4 other tape measure the exact model and all had the same issue.The Home Depot manager swapped mine out for a Milwaukee 35' and said he would speak with the Dewalt representative in the morning since she doesn't do anything anyway.

Once you take this 35 Ft tape and extend it...
Once you take this 35 Ft tape and extend it past 30 ft, It doesn’t roll back in smoothly, used it once and it wasn’t able to go back entirely
