The mantel was very easy to install. I ordered the black color. The screws that hold the mantel in place are countersunk which is nice, but I wish it came with a plug or something to cover the holes.

Love this - looks super nice with brick fireplace

We bought the 72" unfinished mantel, & it looked great out of the box. I almost hated to stain it, but we needed it darker. It stains well, and after several coats of polyurethane, it looks great. The included hanger board also seems made of poplar, which is surprising. It was predrilled & countersunk for mounting to the wall, but of course, those didn't line up with the studs over our fireplace and had to be re-drilled, but that's typical. The result looks great.

Loves that is real wood, the color was exactly what we wanted and super easy to install.

I was skeptical to purchase because of mixed reviews regarding quality and condition. Mine arrived well packaged and exactly as described. Install was extremely straightforward and I was able to even design my stone fireplace facia around it in a rental property of mine. Looks great and is extremely sturdy (I mounted straight to studs, no drywall anchors). Everyone that has checked it out has been extremely impressed (mostly due to price/value). Would definitely recommend.

I purchased and returned this item twice. Both times, I ordered the aged oak color. The color does not look like the picture. The quality seemed nice so I’m giving it two stars for that.

Ordered Farmhouse 60" in Dark Chocolate and stain job was horrible! Blotchy and wood repairs visible, front looked more like "aged oak," but top was dark. I noticed a competitor sold the same product, same price, except the title included "alder" wood, instead of poplar, so ordered one to compare. The alder one is chocolate brown, much better build construction, and the stain is more consistent. I can't believe these are the same product.

Not only did it fit, but so easy to install! Because of a fireplace brick wall I used lag bolts instead of the drywall screws to mount my mantle.

We are thrilled with the addition of this mantel to our living room. It shipped quickly, was easy to assemble, and looks amazing! If you are on the fence, this is a great buy!

We went with the unfinished mantel and stained ourselves as we have a unique stain we were trying to match to our kitchen island and wood hood vent. We went with equal parts Varathane golden pecan and Minwax weathered oak oil stains, turned out beautifully. Hubs said it was very easy to mount to our self built shiplap fireplace.

I love the color so much, also the size. So I ordered 2 of it, one is dark chocolate and another is black. But the black one came with a big dent.. And it so suck that it took me a long time to get it delivered

Great mantle for our remodeled fireplace. Easy to install at reasonable price.

Mantle showed up with a big knot and epoxy filling the gaps. I didn’t care for the front at all but it turned out to work well with our fireplace since it is black. It’s grown on me and much easier than doing it ourselves.

I knocked off a star because the photo makes this appear to be more of a gray color. However, in actuality it is a darker, gray-washed brown. Other than that, the mantel is sturdy, with clean lines and looks great when installed. Very pleased.

Absolute garbage. I could have made a better quality version of this in my living room. First, it is made of junk quality pine 3/4" boards. The boards are full of flaws and unsanded, as though they were pulled from the cull pile of 1x boards at Home Depot. The boards are joined with gaps and edges misaligned. Assembly is just some finish nails and glue, and the wood filler for the nail holes is cheap stuff that does not match the stain. The assembled mess is then stained with cheap, stinky stain, and get this...no polyurethane or sealer of any kind! Just stain. Be careful, it will get all over your hands! Also, don't put any drinks or anything you value on it, there will be rings and stains. Second, there is no french cleat for mounting, and the 2x4 they sent along does not support the full length of the mantel. This thing should cost $20, not $217. I could not be more shocked and disappointed with this. The lack of craftsmanship and crass appeal to buyers who don't know anything about wood products is simply disheartening. Shame on Dogberry and shame on Home Depot for carrying their junk.

Gorgeous piece that worked great in our space! My husband is a carpenter so he cut angles for this to fit into our corner fireplace about three weeks ago. Looks expensive. Great quality and really adds to the room!

The mental arrived to my local Home Depot store. I expected the mantel to be made of some kind of composite material but, it is made of 100% wood. Installation documents I looked at prior to ordering suggest that there would be a metal mounting bracket, and that this item could then be attached to the bracket. The mounting piece was a simple piece of 2x4. The height of the 2x4 was not tall enough to fill the height of the mantel opening. I had to add a 1/2in spacer to fill out the height of the 2x4 mounting piece. Installations always encounter issues of one type or another. This was not a big deal. See the photos of the final result. My wife and I are very happy with how this turned out. I would recommend this product. Any do-it-yourself person can install this product.

Easy to install and easy to cut! Had to cut the mantel for the wired because my walls you cant run the wires for the tv through. I am not very handy and I figured it out :)

Hung on existing concrete wall. Replaced existing hanger board with 2 x 4 x 58 1/8" board. also replaced the 3 packaged long screws with Tapcon screws and used a Tapcon masonry bit. Worked great. I hung it by myself with no major hurdles.
