This little tiller has a powerful motor that easily bit into dry southeast Texas gumbo dirt with no problems. I was / am extremely impressed with this tiller. Well worth the money.

This is a very satisfactory tool. Lightweight and powerful, it easily digs down 4 to 6 inches. With some effort it will go deeper. I would certainly recommend this.

Does a great job,very powerful

more power than I was expecting

I used a friends older smaller model for a few years, worked very well. So I decided on this model for my own purchase. Love it. The option for more or less tines helps in my rocky soil. plenty of power. I would suggest making sure you have a decent extension cord rated for the amps.

worked great for me ,I had to start over after the big freeze so I redid my flower beds with top soil compost , and cow manure I was able to really mix all of those and am just waiting for planting time. I am a woman 81 years of age and the small size was perfect. If I had hired someone to do the work it would have cost more than the tiller. I'm very pleased .

Works better than I expected

Works much better than my gas tiller did. Digs in deep and has plenty of power. Removable tines makes for easy clearing of roots.

Nicely designed rototiller is powerful with 13.5 amps, easy to use. No hassle with mixing gas and oil and storage or spilling.

Used it for over 3 hours continuously ( during 2nd week of March) and the motor did not heat up or trip the fuse. Nicely designed and built

great power, did well even with hard packed dirt.

I am "old School" so I didn't think an electric tiller could replace my gas tiller. I was wrong, this machine is a real monster!

Easy to assemble and very powerful. I made one pass tilling the upper 6" and then dug down into the hard clay soil below. The tiller was easily controllable. Wow, I'm 73 and I was so glad not to have to dig all of this by hand. I've got one more pass to mix in the steer manure, then on to my other garden plots.

This is the 2nd Earthwise electric tiller I have purchased. I always had gas tillers (including a little Mantis) and could never keep them running, especially after storing for the winter. After much research, I settled on my first Earthwise tiller. I used it several years without a single problem until I literally ran it into the ground last month! lol I actually purchased a different brand electric tiller first and after one use, took it back to the store and ordered this one from HD. I have used my new, bigger Earthwise tiller once so far and am just as happy as I was with the first one! Easy assembly, like the way the wheels fold up and down - much easier than the one I returned, and the carry handle on the housing is a great idea. For an electric tiller, it carries a good amount of power, too! It's perfect for small jobs but I have also managed to break out new hard ground with it. Just don't run it forever without a break and allow it to cool down occasionally, and use the proper size cord for it.

I love this machine! Will work very well for most homeowners and does nor produce the headache of dealing with a gas powered unit.

Easy to assemble, easy to start and use. I opted to keep the tines set to narrow for better tilling. Working depth isn’t really 8 inches in all but the finest already tilled soil. Expect around 6 inches +/- after a few passes. Two issues: 1. I tilled grassy areas after scalping. The grass roots wound around the tine axle, effectively reducing the depth even more. Takes a half hour w pruning shears to cut away all the wound up roots, every hour or so of tilling. 2. The tines don’t extend to the centerline. So the little center gearbox rests on top of untilled soil, further limiting depth. Workaround: twist the machine left and right as you go along, so the tines cut through the whole path. You could also use that twisting technique and set tines to wide. Much quieter (and less powerful and not as deep) compared to the gas one I used to rent. It’s a better value than renting.

Like many, I read a majority of reviews on this product. Also like many, I opted to ignore the high stars and low stars and focused on the middle top reviews. After the majority of rave reviews I did read the ones with one star and poor performance issues and the five stars. I have to agree with the highest ratings; this thing did a great job in my garden. We doubled the size this year and as expected, the pre farmed section was much easier than the new half with winter grass still present. This thing really did rock for me! Like others, the occasional big root tries to bind it but it kept on kicking it through the small stuff. Also as expected the new section was a slower go. Out of pity for my tiller I stopped and cleaned the tines of roots although it was a mule and ready to keep tilling. Conditions are good SC soil and we have had a good amount of rain lately which I am sure helped. I have no doubt or regrets in this purchase and would recommended it to my closes friends and family!
