Do not buy Everbilt 11 inch spring. Nominal one inch hex nut and loose metal tab to adjust. One inch nut actually 1 1/16th. Terrible to adjust. Go for the 14 inch Everbilt spring with pin to turn and adjust. Or look at Barrette spring (pin to turn and adjust). And watch you tube videos. Also read minimal instructions carefully. Top of spring always attaches to post and not to gate.

Easy to install, and works great

I purchased 2 of these springs, within 5 days the screws that come with the items both snapped he heads off and went flying like a bullet across the poolyard. I ended up purchasing stronger screws and have worked fine since, however with the type of torsion these springs provide, a stronger screw or warning should have veeb included.

Works well with my heavy gate. A little finicky adjusting, may take a couple of tries to get the tension just right.

As advertised it works perfectly on my gate.

The spring itself worked as purposed. However, the provided mounting screws did not. After three days both screw heads on the gatepost snapped off and the spring was sprung. The screw holes were pre-drilled and only hand tightened, so they were not weakened by over torquing. Using my own screws, it was remounted and re-tensioned. It now works satisfactory.

I mistakenly bought the one with the tightening nut that requires a large socket. But if you use the large socket you cannot wedge the holding pin in place to keep the tension. Frustrating. The other design allows you to tighten the spring the same way you tighten an adjustable door hinge. But that one.

Works great no complaints

Worked as advertised, but fell short of being “excellent” since the top two screws sheared a week after installation. Installed a better quality screw to resolve the issue.

Easy install. Except tension lock blocked by attachment screws. Requires grinding down plate.

As other reviews have mentioned, the bar that holds your spring at the correct tension is too wide! I had to grind it down in order for it to fit between the screws and the spring end. Not great quality control. I'm also having a hard time getting the tension correct so that my latch closes instead of hitting really hard and bouncing off. It seems to be either just too loose, or with just one more turn, just too tight. I'm keeping it at too tight hoping that the spring will relax over time and work right. I really don't love it but couldn't find a better alternative.
