Excellent BRASS fitting. We are in the middle of clearing, grading and landscaping about an acre of ground - its August so we need to irrigate/water for newly seeded lawns and plants to survive. I picked up a few different fittings to connect hoses, PVC pipe, hose reels, drip irrigation systems etc.
Really like that these are brass. Cheaper pot metal fittings corrode over time and removing corroded fittings to replace a hose or attachment is not only time consuming, if you are not careful and use lots of penetrating lubricant you risk damaging the fitting and whatever the fitting is connected to. Brass does not have that problem - plus these fittings are a lot stronger than pot metal. With the combination of pipe threads and hose threads, I can layout a watering system - like a drip irrigation system - that can remain in place and connect the water supply using a garden hose whenever I need water. These come in various configurations to meet a variety of applications - shown are the male pipe thread to male hose thread and the second one is a male pipe thread to female hose thread.

This is one of a couple fittings that I seem to use a lot in gardening and landscaping irrigation situations. This has a female garden hose thread on one side and a male 1/2 inch iron pipe thread (NPT) on the other.
This is an indispensable fitting when connecting 1/2 inch black polyethylene (PE) or PVC pipe to a garden hose or a hose bib. Use the regular barbed fittings with PE or glue fittings with PVC, and then this converter. This is also the fitting needed to add an irrigation pipe or header to a hose, or an irrigation pipe to a hose bib.
If you need to blow out piping before freeze-up, you may also use one of these to convert your air compressor sizes to a garden hose size.
Solid brass, so it won’t break or cross-thread like plastic and will probably outlast you.

I use a lot of these fittings for making hose runs off of black pipe to water my animals. I have a series of 3/4 inch runs of black pipe to various barns and I use these fittings to install hoses at places that I need to water animals they have held up much better over the years than plastic or pot metal ones for sure. They are left out un-pressurized in the cold Michigan winters with no issues.well made and readily available hanging on the home Depot wall.
Worked for connecting my new utility sink in the garage to my garden hose spigot so I didn’t have to run a new water supply line

3/8 has two different sizes. Walk there and grab a 3/8 and then find another one and they are two different sizes I can show you if you need me to.

It's like magic! You put one end on an itty bitty hose connection and the other end on a garden hose and it's like they become one (almost like a marriage but without all the bickering). Plus, you can step, stomp and abuse it, within reason, and it holds up (kind of like a marriage).

Used with PVC fittings for adapting a water hose to use as a soap foaming cleaner.

I could not stop this from leaking when used on a four-way brass garden hose splitter, even with many wraps of plumber tape. Too bad there is not a 5/8” FHT to 1/2” MHT. This is what is needed for most garden hose applications.

A 3/4 in. FHT x 3/8 in. MIP adapter would have been even better.
And the assistance of the staff was less than desirable.

This piece was exactly what I needed and works perfectly once it arrived (not too long a wait, only 6 days) (out of stock on the shelf). I really appreciate being able to go to your store and find the actual thing I need, and be able to figure out and try out how things fit together before buying. Takes time, but so much better than figuring it out by description only, online! Thanks!!!

Did exactly what I needed it to do in connecting a dishwasher to my water supply. I’m glad that Home Depot carries this part. No one else in town did!

You'll need to buy a washer for it or water will leak. I had to change after I bought this do to it being thin.
