I would give it 5 stars, but...
I would give this 5 stars. It's really a good spring. But why in the world would they wrap it with the stickiest label known to man. Even after finally getting the label off, the spring is so sticky that it will inevitably look very nasty when stuff clings to it. Why, why, why? Really, why would they do that?

Used on our screen porch doors...love the nostalgic look and sound..

It works. However the label is very hard to remove and for that reason I would choose a spring that has no or a different label.

It’s a fine spring however, the way they adhere the label to the spring is a royal pain in the butt to remove, and takes work. Why they have to make it so difficult is anybody’s guess. Good luck!

This extension spring worked perfectly for my application! It helped to read questions asked where I found info not in the product details like maximum rated weight. I bought 2 to use as a counterweight for a hinged attic trap door.

Takes 5 - 10 Minutes to Remove Label
I bought several of these springs and it took 5 - 10 minutes per spring to remove the 5 inch long label, glued onto the spring. Worse yet, the label comes off in very small pieces. Don't bend the spring, that just makes it worse. My original purchase was made in the store, then went online solely to have the opportunity to write a review and save others from this frustration. I plan to bring this spring back to the store with half of the label removed, just to make a point.

    Obnoxious Label
The spring is just fine, too bad you can't put a better label on it. Getting it off was like peeling an egg with little bits of paper aggressive residue left behind. Annoying. You can do better than this.

      Packaging impossible to remove!
Quality seems good but be prepared to do battle with getting the label off! Your weapons will be a utility knife and goo gone if you have it. I did not, so scraped off most of it with the utility knife and then the battle intensified. Soaked in water to get most of what was left and soaked in alcohol for the rest. Holy cow! 30 minutes to get the label off! Ridiculous!

        Awful adhesive packaging
The spring took all of 1min to install but the removal of the adhesive packaging sticker took 15min. Who in their right mind would think placing a packaging sticker over half the length of this spring was a good idea? It made removal nearly impossible without having to meticulously scrape away the sticker residue with a utlility knife between each rung. Had I known what I was getting myself into I would’ve returned it.

          These springs changed my life.
I love these springs with all my heart. I raised it like my own child. Very low maintenance: it doesn't eat much, but it's a great listener.

            MAJOR packaging problem!
I have no idea how this would have worked. Wrapping the spring in a totally adhesive-backed label may have seemed good for loss-prevention, but it ended up equally effective for use-prevention. My frustration level was surpassed, and it's off to the local hardware store for something far more user-friendly. Suggestion: Execs should actually try using something before signing off on packaging.
