It was the wrong size. It was for a hose. I needed the fine threaded input female size for the outside facet bib. The Stars rating does not apply

The brass vacuum breaker seems to be of high quality--I've had four for at least a year, no issues. That said, the set screw is not made of brass and DOES RUST. I only recently realized this, and went to remove the set screws before they became so rusty that they would get stuck, making it impossible to remove the vacuum breaker. On my four vacuum breakers, I was able to remove the set screw (now rusty on three) and threw them out. They are not necessary, IMO. However, on the 4th, the screw was already so rusty that it snapped off, thus locking the vacuum breaker to the hose bibb. An hour a half later, I managed to drill it out and get the vacuum breaker off, but in the course of doing so of course damaged the hose bibb. What a waste of time! It is shocking that this would be sold with two different metals that will clearly not live well together. Either the manufacturer should supply a brass set screw, or else just don't include it. My recommendation for those who purchase this item is to leave the set screw off from the start.

Bought 2 of these back-flow preventers within a large order, curbside pickup. I made sure that the HD associate handed me the back-flow preventers, so they wouldn't get lost, and the associate gladly did so. So that this back-flow preventer can eventually be replaced, before installing I removed the set screw, which will break off when tightened. Then on 2 outdoor faucets, I installed this back-flow preventer and hand tightened. Turned the faucets on and off, and everything worked great, no leaks. Then on each back-flow preventer, I installed the old hard rubber garden hose, tightening easily with a wrench. This also tightened the back-flow preventer on the faucet. Then for the past few days I've watered the lawns through each valve for at least 20 minutes. Watering works perfectly, same as before installation, no leaks, no problems.

The screw snapped while tightening. Now I can't remove it.

It was hard to install it - it was leaking until I used a Teflon tape. Works OK now. Too expensive.

Easily solved a long term leak problem

It’s made very nice I personally being a woman don’t have a full understanding of the purpose of it or the screw and I had it on my back hose but it leaked all over my stained patios so I moved it to the front where when it overflows it goes into the garden. But I do not like buying plastic so I always rely on brass.

Does what it has to do. Installed on yard hose bib, after installing back yard pool as our town requires that the hose connection requires a back flow preventer. Cheap and easy..

No leaks and no pressure drop compared to the old vacuum breaker even though the inside diameter of the outlet is smaller than the one it replaces. Very happy.
