Nice dehumidifier; we like it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Excellent dehumidification. Quiet and effective. Just one distress - when the bucket is full, it is FULL and somewhat difficult to extract, carry, and empty without sloshing water about. I just make sure that it doesn't get that full; and if it does, I pull it out and carry it carefully.

    Dies right after warranty expires
    Died a little after one year (of course, just after the warranty expires.) Leaked all its coolant and is irreparable. Our 45-year old dehumidifier is working great, but I'm seeing hundreds of reviews on this model that it dies just after one year. Appears as if this was planned.

      FFAD5034W1 Frigidaire 50 Pint Dehumidifier
      This dehumidifier works great and certainly keeps our basement dry. It is our second Frigidaire dehumidifier and we’ve been satisfied with both. The only complaint is the high level of water in the water collection tank, which turns off at a very high level and this makes it difficult remove the tank without spilling water.

        I purchased because I have did very good luck with Frigidaire products. I just unpacked and thought I better make sure there was no packing materials around filter. To my surprise there was No Filter, they must have missed during assembly? I hope they didn’t miss anything internally?

        Failed after just 15 months
        This review is for a Frigidaire dehumidifier ( model FFAD5033W1 ). After just 15 months of light duty the unit failed with an EC fault code which seems to be a very common occurrence based on the reviews. Frigidaire says the unit is unrepairable, and since it is outside the brief 1 year warranty, and they offer no responsibility for an all too common defect, then it is money lost. This unit was manufactured by Electrolux ( using the Frigidaire brand name ) and is available under several other brand names so buyer beware and avoid in favour of a different manufacturer.

          Piece of Crap Dehumidifier
          This is my third Frigidaire dehumidifier that I have owned in six years. All three have been junked due to the dreaded EC code that has come up constantly on all three. I bought these Frigidaire dehumidifiers because they were highly rated as an energy efficient quality product. I do not know who gave them that rating but in my estimation they are at the bottom the list. Three Frigidaire dehumidifiers over six years...gets rather expensive and blows my mind as to the lack of quality components that Frigidaire must use. Never again will I own a Frigidaire dehumidifier or any other Frigidaire product. Sorry for the bad review but the truth not only hurts but is an expensive lesson.

            Ices up / stops working after the warranty expires
            I've owned 3 of these, purchased from various retail outlets. With all 3 units, they lose refrigerant which causes the coils to ice-up. The iced-up coils block airflow and the unit stops dehumidifying. All 3 lost refrigerant just after the 1 year warranty expired. The Frigidaire warranty on the predecessor units was 5 years. Now you know why they changed the warranty to 1 year. This review is more about me than about this Frigidaire dehumidifier. I'm too dumb to learn my lesson.

              Worked fine for 13 months. until the warrantee expired.
              Worked fine for 13 months. Now everyday I get the error code "EC" on the machine. I unplug and replug it in and it works for a while. Next morning the error code is back. I have tried other electrical outlets. Of course the warranty period expired just before failure.

                Never Again
                I’ve had 2 of these units fail after 3 years of use. They are poorly engineered and will throw an EC error code and never run again.

                      EC error codes common
                      Failed after 1 year with EC error code. Could not be fixed. Tried all recommendations. The unit would reset and fail again in 4 to 5 hours.

                        13 Month Lifespan then your on your own!
                        Frigidaire High Humidity 50-Pint Capacity Dehumidifier, worked for the first summer of its very short life. Only plugged in during summer months in the lower finished basement. The cooler temperatures in the following spring had us not needing to turn on until late June, which was right at the 1 year warranty mark. The unit froze up so bad it had thick ice coming through the CLEAN air filter, along with water leaking all over the floor. Tried thawing it out a few times for a few days at a time but it kept freezing up right away and never defrosting itself. The room temperature was between 65 and 70. Should have worked. I called Frigidaire's number and 40 minutes later I got to speak with someone that told me over and over again that the 1 year warranty ended 30 days ago and they would do nothing. Worst dehumidifier we ever owned. They usually last 5 years or more.

                          Steer Clear it's not worth it!!!!

After a ton of research, I’m so glad that I went with the Frigidaire! It works so well and runs quietly with the different fan options. I set the timer at bedtime and sleep well throughout the night! Great investment and highly recommended!

                                Failed after 9 months
                                I had high expectations for my dehumidifier but was unfortunately was let down. The dehumidifer started frosting up after 9 months. I cleaned the filter monthly and temps. were consistent in the area it was being used. I unfortunately can't recommend this dehumidifier.

                                  Buyer Beware!
                                  I purchased this product in Feb/22 and it lasted about 1 yr and 2 months exactly 60 days beyond the warranty period, so I was out of luck! This machine will display an error code EC and from this moment on this dehumidifier it will no longer function properly. I contacted Customer Srv and was told because I was 60 day beyond the warranty period there was nothing they can do other than recommend a good repair tech, nearby of course. The EC code was a familiar code to the operator BUT NO RECALL

                                    Poor Quality
                                    Received this unit as a replacement after my first unit failed after four years. This unit displayed EC after only two years of life. I do not recommend this product.

                                      Easy to clean washable filter for model FFAD5033W10
                                      The manual depicts a filter that you remove from the grill. The grill has a screen made to it with additional clips for a filter like the one pictured in the manual. The filter wasn't included in the box. The customer service rep says the permanent screen is the filter.

                                        worked for 14 months, then frosted up
                                        I chose this unit as recommended by Wirecutter, and it worked well keeping my 600 sq. ft. basement under 50%. Two months past the 1-year mark, the bottom third of the coil started frosting, making the unit ineffective. Cleaning the filter and coil for good air-flow did not help. After research, it seems that these units have a chronic issue losing refrigerant which causes the freezing. Didn't expect this to last forever, but 14 months is pitiful. I wish HD or Frigidaire would make this right.

                                          Works, mostly
                                          [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a replacement for an approximately 5-month old unit that started, and continued, to frost over, resulting in no dehumidification. To their credit, it was replaced at no cost, under warranty. Perhaps not surprisingly, there was no consideration of repair, which is unfortunate, as a near-new unit will be scrapped, with the owner having to figure out how to dispose of a regulated refrigerant-containing unit (can’t just put it out for rubbish collection). Fortunately, our community has a disposal program for such items; unfortunately, we will have to transport it to the facility, about 30 minutes away. Now, the replacement unit is also having the same issue, although it will function properly for several days after being shut off, disconnected from power to reset, and left off for a day. And when it frosts over, it’s a thick coating, covering the whole of the condensation fins (see photo). If it comes to the point that it continuously frosts over, like the prior unit, we will replace it with another brand rather than having to continue disposing of near-new units. (By the way, the temperature in the room is never less than 68, it frosts over even with the fan set at high, and when the humidity is down to 50%.)

                                            [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This unit worked satisfactorily for 18 months, but then it would no longer reduce the humidity low enough to reach the desired level. I found that the unit was icing up, despite the air filter and inside of the unit being clean. Of course, the unit is no longer under warranty, so I am faced with purchasing a replacement unit. There is no excuse for this to happen after such a short period of time. Needless to say, the replacement will not be another Frigidaire!

                                              Ice Buildup After 5 Months
                                              Bought this dehumidifier in May of 2022. By October of 2022, it started having ice build-up on the outside of the unit. The unit was set to 45 percent humidity and running in a basement with temperatures in the high 60s. I highly doubt this is normal. I will be contacting Frigidaire to see what the next steps are.

                                                After 1 year the controls went haywire
                                                After just over a year the controls stopped working. The unit cycles between high and low fan speeds on it's own. It doesn't respond when I push the other buttons. I have to pull the plug if I want it to stop.

                                                    [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Frigidaire dehumidifier is a great machine and really does a good job of controlling the humidity levels. I have used mine in a 950 and 1500sqft apartments. It provides humidity control for the entire apartment. I use the hose attachment when I go out of town but otherwise empty out the jug 1 sometimes 2 times a day. My only complaint is the plastic laminate over the control module is starting to show a lot of ware already. Not sure if this has been fixed with the updated models but I would still recommend this product.

                                                      A good, no-nonsense dehumidifier
                                                      [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I noticed high humidity (>65%) in my basement and the open ground-floor area above it. I looked into different dehumidifiers and this seemed like a good choice based on its size and price. I set it down in my basement, plugged it into the wall, and let it go. It takes a couple days to fill up when I set it to reduce to 60% humidity. It's rather loud, but easy to ignore when its in the basement. I don't anywhere to drain it, so I manually empty the bottom slide-out container. My only real complaint is that it can be easy to spill some water when pouring it out, but this isn't difficult to avoid. I imagine it might be more difficult to manage if you aren't physically fit, but you could just empty it more often to compensate.

                                                        This unit does an adequate job of removing moisture from the air. However, the panel seems to have deteriorated and developed blemishes. Check the photos. Am I supposed to take off the clear plastic on the panel? There's no instruction to do that.

We were surprised how much it gathered water in the bucket (even in a low fan setting) and the smell has been gone. It's super simple and easy to set up and use. Also we like the simple and clean design!
