I've had these installed for years and here are the pros and cons: PROS: When these are installed properly, they will work in mild to moderate conditions. Cables need to extend beyond the eve into the gutter, and zig zag up the roof beyond the depth of the eve. You also need to hang a separate cable from the roof cable that runs the length of the gutter and down the downspout, or the gutter will just fill with ice and mitigate the purpose of the cable on the roof. You also need to turn these on BEFORE a snow event. CONS: Tricky to install, especially when hanging the gutter cable (it needs slack). Count on buying more cable than you estimate too. I had to go back to the store twice. These don't work well in extreme conditions (a foot of snow or more or extreme cold temperatures - or both) They can make things worse if turned on AFTER the snow event (they just melt the snow and the water turns to ice immediately.) The shingle clips are designed poorly and don't hold well, especially if you use a roof rake (you will jut rip the cable off the roof, even if you're being careful) Your electric bill will be noticeably higher. SUMMARY: This is really just a band-aid to a bigger issue (poor insulation or ventilation, or both) But they can be helpful if you have a low-pitched roof and have resolved all those other issues and are still having problems such as I do. Do they help? Yes, sometimes... Would I install then again? Probably not. I'd either find a better product out there and spend the money or buy a house with a higher-profiled, well-insulated, well ventilated roof - or move south! PICTURE: This photo shows the cables NOT working well. Even though I turned them on well before the storm, we got 18" of snow in one day and it was -2 degrees outside. The cables can't handle it and I wish I hadn't turned them on because I feel like they made things worse. The last small storm we had, they worked much better and I had less ice and no icicles.

Good directions and easy installation. No ice or snow yet so fingers crossed that it works as described.

Had all the parts I need and god instructions. Be careful when unrolling, it is easy to get tangled up.

Ice froze around it in gutter. Didn’t work. Needs to be hotter.

This product is pretty easy to install and works well when installed correctly. It should be noted, however, not to plug in the cables while coiled. We plugged the first one in to get it warm so it would be easier to work with. The coils quickly heated to a point where the plastic melted and started to smoke. It would have caught fire within a few minutes! Once the cables are laid out, however, they don’t heat up like that. We made sure they didn’t touch, but it seemed to be in that coiled state that they were the most dangerous!

it was perfect for my needs. works great. supplied with plenty of hardware to install. draws way less power than my previous cables.

Works great!! Just FYI to other installers make the spacing 5" not the 7" they say in the instructions helps under thicker snow and ice.

I only buy Frost King best quality and price.

Bought in Feb 2021. Installed in Fall 2021. Worked for the first couple snowfalls, but now does not warm up. As of Feb 2022, after the recent 8” of snow the product is no longer working. Basically the product broke during the first season of use and I can not do much about it until the spring. Likely past the maximum return date for Home Depot, so may try to send back to Frost King once I can remove them.

Its installed but don't know yet how well it works. If I had my way I would never know don't like cold..

The cable is working. However the directions on how to determine the length of the cable that you need was not very accurate. By the directions I should have had excess. In actuality I could not extend the cable as far down the one down spout as was recommended and still have a cable that stretched the length of the gutter.

Worked as expected. Plenty of clips and cable spacers. Highly recommend.

Works great! Ended the leaks that I had coming down the INSIDE of my wall!

Purchased to replace 24 year old cables, since one stopped working this season. Will not actually install until fall of 2020.

Works just as I needed, probably will but another to get the project completed correctly

Bought it to put on our parsonage roof as every year had to snow rake roof and still had ice damming. Only took few hour to install and it works great ,did the eaves and valleys, great to see the roof clear so no more raking and ice removal.

I purchased the 200 foot de-icing cable kit and installed it following all the directions. The cable initially did not seem to get warm, but on the next attempt, post unplugging it, it did. We then got a large snow and it won’t not trip my GFI. Now frozen into ice and can’t remove to return.
