So Cool
I have had a few different brands of window air conditioners, this is very well built. The install kit is the best I've seen and it's not super loud. I'm very pleased with this purchase and will buy a GE for the next one.

    Works as promised
    i just bought one of these myself yesterday, i was worried by what the reviews said about the noise level but honestly it's as loud as any other window unit I've ever had not too loud but not quiet either. If near a TV then turn it up 5-6 clicks and it's like normal. We use this for a 250sqft living room and it manages to cool the 280sqft kitchen easily as well so if your home is well insulated and doors/windows are sealed properly I see no reason to get a different unit. I'll be purchasing a second for our 550sqft downstairs living room tomorrow.

      Great AC for the room I needed it in. I have a room with lots of direct light and this does the trick nicely. Install was simple and the best part is that all of the insulation add ons were right in the box!

        Works so far, but two things that I find dissappointing
        I hate it when products offer allegedly nice features only to find out the execution is so stingy and cheap, that they don't actually work. It's just pure dishonestly and for me that's a big let-down. The two issues: 1. "Energy Saver" mode - a nice thought, but in actuality it just causes the unit to shut off and back on sporadically, sometimes several times within a minute. I could not find any correlation between the shut on/off cycles and the temperature of the room. 2. The remote - it has a nice little glass window, obviously intended for some kind of digital display, but all it has is the GE logo in it. So when using the remote you actually have no indication as to what mode or temperature the unit is set to. Also it's difficult to use in the dark. So if you're using the remote, you have to reference the digital panel on the a/c unite itself to know what the settings are. Other than that, the a/c has been working every day for the past two months and keeping the room nice and cool during this NYC summer. But keep in mind that this is just a bare-bones a/c. These days for this price I would expect the remote to be a bit more useful and please don't say you have a "Energy Saving" mode if you're not going to make it actually work the way it's supposed to. I'm giving it 3 stars "average", but would recommend it as a bare-bones a/c that works and cools. Installation was easy enough. It comes with a bag of different types of insulation foam, which is nice.

        Quickly cools bedroom, easy install, delay on / off feature
        I bought this to cool our bedroom in an add-on upstairs dormer that is sweltering in summer because of the heat rising from the first floor. Bedroom is 225 square feet and with door open a crack, AC cools room down from mid 80s daytime temps to low 70s in an hour. The Delay On / Off function is very handy - can set the unit to turn on every day at 7pm so it's nice and cool by bedtime and when unit is on, can set it to turn off early a.m. Also has energy saver feature for those that don't want to constantly run the compressor. Install was easy - you screw in the top bracket, the bottom bracket comes pre-installed, and then you lower the window so the sash sits in back of the top bracket and the bottom bracket sits in front of the window sill. This tilts the window a bit but the unit is slim profile so that it's not too unsightly from the outside, should your window be facing the street. Also comes with a set of screws to affix the accordion sliders on each side to the window frame and a top bracket to help prevent the until from falling out should you have a momentary lapse of judgement and just try to open the window. Comes with foam to stuff into the top window seal and I used Frost King winterizing tape to seal the gaps around the unit so there is not much cool air loss.

          AC won’t stay cool past 90 degree day
          I have had this AC since May 2020, and when I say I have never had an AC not work, this is one of them. If it is 80 below, it will be cool, but today, it is 90 degrees, and the AC can barely keep the room below 80. Find a better AC or maybe even a stronger one.

              Excellent Air conditioner. The only thing bad I could say about it is the remote stopped working around 10 days after I purchased it but other than that it's an amazing product.

                Worked for 4 years
                Worked well every summer, and it was nice to be able to control the unit remotely using the app. But on the 5th year, the coils are icing over, indoor fins are frosting, and water is gathering and getting spit back into the room.

Ice on the indoor coils of an air conditioner can cause the unit to stop cooling well and when this happens, you may even see water or ice spit out of the front of the unit.                     Powerful and nice looking!
                    I recently bought two of these window units, 10k and 8k BTU, mainly because of the wifi connectivity, this way I can control them remotely, they are very powerful and efficient, easy to maintain, nice in appearance and being GE you can have peace of mind that will last for many years years.

                      Great A/C
                      I love the unit. Love the fact that I can control it through an app. There’s really nothing bad to say about it but I had to give it 4/5 stars because it’s missing a timer button. I installed the unit in my daughters room and in the evenings the temperature is pretty hot so she leaves it on. Since I can’t set a timer it runs all night and in the morning her room is freezing. It does what it’s meant to do but a timer button would be a great feature.

                            Coming from such a good name brand I would have expected better quality. The unit cools well but now after two years I have to replace the unit because it won’t stop beeping. Assuming it’s a control panel issue. Pretty sad that I’ve had other units from other brands last 7-8 years without any issues

                                Totally unreliable
                                I don’t normally leave bad reviews. This AC worked great for a year. It gets maintained and isn’t in a harsh environment. The wifi feature and app are virtually useless, and it’s not because of the wifi. I have to start it 3-4 times daily and check on it to make sure it is cooling, because most of the time it flashes an “E8” code and blows no cool air. E8 code means it has endured an overload, which is not the case, as I am a licensed electrician and I wired the house. Long story short, I leave the house expecting to come home to a cool room, and it isn’t cool, because this thing is totally unreliable and works the first time about 25% of the time. I learned a lesson on this one: Don’t fall for the wifi feature. The AC units with the built-in timer for delayed start are far more user-friendly. Do yourself a solid and do not buy this product.

                                  Love it! thing is fast, keeps two rooms cool as an ice box and i can control it from my cell phone! Can't say enough good things about this product. Oh... and the one time I had to call customer support - Wow - on hold less than 4 min - rep was very gracious in getting me connected to the unit via the wifi app ( i had already installed the unit and had covered up the scan code on the side during installation) the guy was GREAT . helped me find it another way and got me going. I knew my parents always bought GE for some reason... NOW I PERSONALLY KNOW WHY! Good Job GE!!

                                        I've actually had this window ac since I think 2018? But it is still going! It still connects to my Google assistant and it does a nice job cooling off my house. I've moved since i originally had it for my old apartment. My new home has central air, but i use this window AC for matinence on those really hot days.

                                          Quality questionable???
                                          Was nice while it worked, but expected it to work longer than the warranty period. Installed in a 16x12 workshop last summer and now it freezes up (freon leak or none at all) and doesn't cool. Cleaned it and did everything suggested in troubleshooting videos, but nothing helped. too expensive to have serviced, so will buy a new one, but not a GE. Overall GE makes god products, but guess you get a lemon every now and then. Also interesting that this model is no longer being manufactured, wonder why? The new models I've seen in the stores don't look much different.

                                          Hi there - we apologize that your air conditioner is freezing up and not cooling properly, despite your efforts at troubleshooting the issue. This sounds frustrating and we can understand your discouragement. When the fan is set lower, especially on a cool evening, but the temperature is still set very low, ice can build up because there's not enough air flowing over the cooling coils to remove the moisture. The best way to prevent freezing up is to not run the unit if the outdoor temperature is below 70 degrees F. If the temperature is close to 70 or you are unsure of the temperature, you can turn the thermostat to a warmer setting, set the fan switch to the highest position. We hope this is helpful.                                               Machine ran fine until next season, remote useless, app stupid, expensive!
                                              This unit was okay for last summer season , It cools the room OK, but the remote is useless -you have to be standing right in front of the unit for the remote to work the unit. The app is OK, as you can program a schedule on the unit and then GE also can sense where your phone is when you are traveling towards home to turn the unit on for comfort, as you’re getting closer to home, however it turns off the schedule part of it so you can’t use that. The remote does not light up the window up top it is the GE famous emblem only, at night you cannot see what you’re doing so you have no reference point as to what you are on for fan and temperature in real time. Now that I put the window unit in for this year 2021 the thing is squealing like a pig and groaning, it seems like the cabinet is shifting so I try and square it up, but the fan shaft seems to be getting overheated after going for a while. I have tried to lubricate it a bit and that does not really help. so this unit worked well for one season 2020 and now for this year I don’t know if it’s going to last. it would be expensive for a service call for repair and parts which is stupid for a $300 unit. GE seems much more interested in marketing and advertising to you other products or service contracts. The older AC units were sturdy, had a timer feature available, and didnt groan on the fan mode. I am somewhat disappointed!
