Customer Reviews for GE Garage Ready 17.3 cu. ft. Frost Free Defrost Upright Freezer in White

I really like my new garage-ready freezer. Lighting is superb; 17 cf plenty room for my freezer requirements. It is sleek looking and fits just right. I also like that there are two big drawers at the bottom that are plastic, just like in the fridge, instead of one big wire-type drawer that things can fall through, and can be difficult to maneuver. The smaller drawer near the top is excellent too.

It's beautiful, there's so much room. There are drawers and shelves and little cubbies in the door to hold everything. I'll finally be able to find what I'm looking for without letting cold air out for 5 minutes. I have to save on my energy bill for that reason alone.

The space between the top shelf and the second shelf with the slide out drawer is only 5 inches making the second shelf pretty much useless. The bottom bins are divided so there are two bins.. I would’ve rather had one bin with a sliding divider in it. The bottom bins are very deep. I would’ve rather had them not quite so deep and use that space between the top shelf and the second shelf. The seal around the door is quite tight, which is nice until you go to open it. When you pull on the handle to open the door, it tends to pull the freezer out from the wall.

Just got it but great so far! I like the outer temp display and warning systems.

Our 14yo Upright Frost-Free 21cuft Freezer was dying.. ice cream was mushy. I checked all the simple things (power, door gasket, etc.).. It needed replaced. I checked everywhere for an Upright 21CuFt Freezer that could deliver ASAP... and Home Depot was not only the lowest price for this freezer.. but was three weeks quicker than the nearest delivery date for our area. Home Depot said they could install within two days of the order. WOW. Dago and Manuel were AMAZING installers. THANK YOU.

This thing is ENORMOUS! The interior is nice but I wish there were more options for customizing the shelves.

I have only had the freezer for a month but it is just what I wanted. Plenty of space for freezing all the things that didn't fit into the refrigerator freezer.

Bought this freezer.It been little over 7 month now and after 7 month is not working.It says high temperature all the time and temperature inside the freezer is high 60 fahrenheit.My food in the freezer got wasted and I called GE and they sent a technician after 2 weeks and the guy came check the freezer and order 3 parts.And after a week another technician came and changed the old part with new and I thought the freezer will be good after that.But 2 days after fixing the freezer it’s same like before not working.It’s almost been a month now the freezer is not working.Don’t buy this product.I want to return this product not sure how do I do it.

After less than a month lower shelf has cracked in front corner

We bought this freezer due to the display control panel being on the outside and the size. Very disappointed in shelving. First it only has 4 shelves that do not allow much to be stored on them without adding tall plastic containers. More importantly the glass shelves bow under any kind of load. We added 37 pounds of beef to one shelf and it bows so much the drawer is close to not opening. GE claims in other reviews that the shelf can hold 75 pounds. I think it would break at 75 lbs.

I love this freezer. It is an upright with 3 drawers plus shelves on the door. Plenty of room and easy to find everything.

Easy to use and set up. So far so good. Very excited and fortunate to be able to take advantage of this freezer to store up food. The light inside is very bright awesome features including the alarms when door is left open and when temp goes high. Energy efficient what else can you ask for I do wish instead of glass on the shelves they would have been metal or stainless steel shelves. Although I don’t know how sturdy the glass shelves are they do feel study. Overall I recommend this freezer.

Very nice Freezer that keeps things frozen like it should but my only complaint would be that if you expect the lock to keep people out forget about it as I locked the door and later when I went to open it I gave it a tug cause with the nice seal you have to use a little force to open this freezer and the whole plastic lock part on the inside of the freezer came out of the casing of the inside of the freezer thereby making the lock useless and G. E. will not replace or fix this problem they say I broke it and I say it's a faulty design. Shame on G.E. for not backing up their products what good is a lock when just a little tug renders the lock useless. I bought this freezer to keep the kids out of it but I guess G.E. cannot make a reliable strong locking system in their freezers anymore.

Freezer is just what I was looking for. It is sturdy, stylish and quiet. Plenty of storage space for a range of freezer goods. Bought mostly to stock up on meat but is versatile enough to keep our everyday items.

Everything I need, stand up,self defrost and easy for me.

Love the freezer! It’s very spacious and love that it has an alarm.

Pro: freezes well Cons: freezer door is very hard to open even the first time (after you open the door the first time, you have to wait about 15 secs before trying to open again). I fixed this for my mother by placing door stops under the front to stop it from rolling forward (wheels do not lock) and added a suction cup bathroom grab handle to the side so she could brace it in place when opening. Now she can open it without the whole unit rolling forward.

I love my upright deep freezer is awesome and when the guy deliver they did a good job

I love it already! I have just had this freezer for 3 days. It cooled down quickly on turbo freeze setting and I have added food to it. It is plenty big for me. I love the glass shelves and the drawers to organize everything.

This freezer has broken down twice in 2 years. The fan motor went out last week. It's a $465 repair bill! Don't waste your money on this freezer.
