This material does what it says it does. However, the nozzle is so flimsy that I've broken off the directive tubing at the head... TWICE. Even knowing to be careful, the nozzle/tubing connector snapped off on me. I know it's a throw-away can, but please, can they put a little more material on the nozzle?

We are sorry to hear that our straws did not work properly. Please check the date on the bottom of the can. If the product is expired or almost to the date, then the internal value could be sealed shut which would cause the product to not want to come out. This would cause you to put extra pressure on the straw and it breaking.
If your cans are well within expiration date and this is a continuous problem with the straws breaking we are sorry for your inconvenience. Please returned to the place of purchase for exchange or refund

Good Product, poor design
You need to make your product reusable. I'm doing a remodel and I can't do all my sealing at once. SO MANY people complain that they wish they could buy just the straws. I'm not sure why you are not selling these also. As far as the product itself, it works great. Expands well and gets hard. I would give it 5 stars if I could use the can on more than 1 application.

The GREAT STUFF (TM) polyurethane foam sealant is a onetime use product. We suggest to plan ahead, identify and list all possible applications before using the can. Our product uses air & moisture in the air to cure. If you remove the straw and clean it, you have let air reach the value on the can. This will seal the can shut internally. Since the cans are a onetime use we do not sell extra straws.

Straw assembly works one time, then it clogs.
I had a small hole to patch and, following the instructions I was successful. However, it was impossible to clean out the straw assembly. So when I went to try to use it a few months later it wouldn't work because the straw was clogged. I had to buy another can. I used it on a larger hole with some difficulty but finished the job. Again the straw was impossible to clean out & I could not stop in the middle of the job to try to clean the straw. How can I get replacement straws so I can use up the two cans I have?
by
Response from CIGSep 20, 2012
GREAT STUFF ™ Polyurethane foam sealant products do not lend themselves to re-use. Once the can has been used and air has reached the internal valve, it will seal itself shut. One time use should be expected.
We do recommend that you do plan your job ahead to get the most use out of the can.
Here is a tip to prolong the use of a can for next time: before starting your project, have a long nail or pipe cleaner with some WD40 handy. Once you are done using the product, saturate the long nail or pipe cleaner with the WD40 and slide that into the straw applicator. Leave the straw attached to the can and store it upright. That can may then restart for you for up to 30 days.

HANDS
OMG this stuff is ridiculous...half the cans don't work and if you get it on your hands (even with gloves) you look like you are filthy til I don't know when because I still have it on my hands! i soaked in nail polish remover til it made me sick and nothing. I also got it on my eye glasses and yeah you guessed it it didn't come off and now they are probably ruined. Have no idea how to get this stuff off and by looking at the reviews I guess it doesn't come off. Not a fan

The GREAT STUFF™ Polyurethane foam can seal itself shut, one time use should be expected. The foam will only dissolve with acetone when it is still liquid or first contact with surface. Once this product has cured all foam must be mechanically removed or allowed to wear off in time. Under the Warning/Danger section on the can we do state that this product is Extremely sticky, to protect eyes, skin, surfaces. All of the instructions/Directions are listed on the can for the proper use of the cans.

Hard to get out once cured
Like this stuff but how do you get it out from carpet and off wood once it has cured? Have yet to easily find solution, and your site should offer this.
by
Response from GREAT STUFF(TM)Aug 14, 2012
There is no solvent that will remove cured polyurethane foam. If the foam has not cured yet, use acetone or fingernail polish remover (with acetone) or use Great Stuff Work Wipes to quickly remove the uncured foam. For cured foam, mechanical removal is the only recommended way.

Dispensing tubes
Great Stuff is a very good product. However, each can only comes with one dispensing tube. These tubes should be offered separately, also. You can only use the one that comes with the can once or twice and then you have to just dispense the foam from the can itself. After one use, the foam sets up and then it is impossible to dispense any more. Then you are left with about a half of can or more that cannot be used. Please make these dispensing tubes available to purchase affordably.
Thanks

We do not offer extra straws on cans of GREAT STUFF (TM) polyurethane foam sealant that have already been used because the can will seal itself shut if left sitting after use, one time use should be expected. Can contents are under pressure.
A tip to try and preserve a can is by inserting a pipe cleaner sprayed with oil lubricant into the applicator may prolong the life of the product up to 30 days, however, it's better to plan ahead, identify and list all possible applications before using the can.

doesn't always come out of can :-(
Unfortunately, I have now bought this product several times and have had several cans fail to work, period. I followed the directions exactly but nothing comes out of the can. The times I have had it work, it does fill the areas (although there can't be any give to the area you are filling or it will push the opening larger) and if the dried product is out in direct sun for very long (such as filling a gap that gets any sun) it becomes very fragile and if bumped will break off.

We are sorry to hear that our products did not work properly. It sounds like you may have purchased defective or expired product. Expiration date information can be found on the bottom of the can. As with all items sold through retailers, defective or expired product should be returned to the place of purchase for exchange or refund.
GREAT STUFF™ products can be used outdoors. However, cured foam will discolor if exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light. If left exposed, the foam will eventually crumble. Paint or coat foam for best results in outdoor applications.

3 out of 5 Cans didn't dispense product!!!
I have used Great Stuff in the past without any problems. Three out of the last 5 cans I have purchased did not spray any of the foam out of the nozzle properly. The product came out between the nozzle and black rubber seal where the nozzle attaches to the can.

With care, an excellent value!
This is actually a tip for those who've had trouble re-using the product.
I use an air-siphon gun and blow a small amount of mineral spirits through my "straw" after use, which cleans all of the left-over product out, and allows re-use (you MUST do this before product sets up, however). Then, when you want to use the rest of the can, just use a clean deck screw to remove the small "plug" of hardened product out of the tip.
I've been using this method for ten+ years, and it's never failed me.

Better need the whole can.
Stuff is great sure, but with the new spray nozzles one use is all you can expect (read the can) unless you figure out how to clean the nozzle immediately. I only needed a small amount and now am stuck with practically a whole can that I can't use. It would seem like you should be able to by additional nozzles.

Huge can and clogging means planning ahead
As many reviews have said, the can is self-clogging. And the can is huge. I wish it came in smaller cans. I found it very difficult to line up all the various air sealing projects so I do them within the 2 hour timeframe. I ended up wasting 3/4 of the can. Had there been small can options that would have been much better.
Imagine using 19 tubes of caulk in 120 minutes. That's what using great stuff feels like.

First time use and the hose gets blocked. With the lack of air, the hose decides to spin around the canister and then goes flying. I only wanted to fill an ant crack but now have to clean up my floor, walls, and myself.

Production / Distribution / Pollution issues
Very simply, Dow produces a product (Great Stuff - although I beg to differ) that is out of date more frequently than it should be. I purchased the full line of six products for home use and they were apparently out of date. They did not function in any manner, shape or form. The problem is with Dow, not the retailer (Home Depot) as they have been uniformly helpful. They are also concerned with Dow's propensity to blame every else for their distribution channel issues. I would strongly recommend using another manufacturer. While the concept is solid, the execution is abysmal. I am currently researching problems with the curing of the product in terms of it off-gassing and lack of effectiveness for insulation purposes.

Great money saver
Whether you have a new home or a fixer upper like me this product is easy to use, cost effective and long lasting. It really did save me tons of money on my heating bill. I used it in the shed which enters into the house. I sealed up all the cracks. Then I moved onto the basement. I felt the difference immediately and was surprised. Then the best part I saw the difference in my heating bill and I continue to save on my heating bill.

This product works very well.
I have a small free range chicken farm with eleven hens and two roosters, I also have four goats. I used the product to seal spaces in the walls of my barn and the it worked great. It stopped the air leaks and my animals were very happy not to have the winter wind blowing in on them. In fact, all eleven of my hens and two roosters were so happy they continued to produce as it was still summer.
Thank you for such a fine product.

Great for indoor gaps and draft sealing.
I use Great stuff at the house for anywhere I can feel a draft. I also use it to keep bugs and rodents out if I have a larger gap. Works well in any indoor situation, however I do wish it was waterproof to use around the outside of the house! You also have to remember to clear the nozzle out after each use or the product dries up and ruins the nozzle.

Works Great!
This was my first time using a product like this and to my surprise it was extremely easy! We just bought our first home and as we got settled in we noticed a fer little cracks and holes here and there and since we live in Az I was worried about scorpions due to the fact we have small children. I used this myself without the help of my husband and it was very easy and worked great. I get compliments from my hubby as well as friends asking us where to go buy this cause I tell them how great it works and how easy to use it was.
