THE PLASTIC/RUBBER MECHANISM TO PULL THE DRAIN OPEN AND CLOSED DOESN'T WORK VERY WELL. IT SLIPS OFF THE PULL ROD IN THE THE BACK OF THE SINK. THE WHOLE IDEA STINKS.I'D NEVER BUY ONE AGAIN.

I'm not too pleased with the drain. I started out installing it with plumbers putty, like I've used on drains for years. After tightening well, it leaked around the bottom gasket when I filled the sink to overflowing. I took it apart and re-installed with silicon, and it still leaked, this time at the top. The plastic tube assembly that connects the drain plug rod and pull-up rod is laughable. It doesn't want to hold a 90 degree angle, so the drain moves up and unseals when you let go of the pull-up rod. I'll have to jimmy-rig something different for the pull-up rod, that is if I can get the drain rim to seal.

Plastic parts did not function properly and they leaked even tho' it was installed by a master plumber. He was so disappointed with the quality that he didn't charge me.

Why does Home Depot Carry this product?
I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing instead of after. Why does the Home Depot continue to carry this product when it has nothing but 1 star reviews and those arw mostly forced...... Don't waste your time like I did. You'll wind up returning it or trashing it. either way you'll have to get another.

This is a poorly designed item. The drain stop mechanism didnt work at all. The connection to the faucet drain pull is designed by a toddler. The connection is a plastic slide onto the faucet drain pull. Besides many other issues with the mechanism, i had to make another trip to the store for tiny hose clamps so i could get it to stay together. Im a 15 year remodeling pro and will never buy this model again.

While this drain body is metal(?) and vastly better quality than the realllly cheap plastic model, it still has the same **horrible** design for the stopper mechanism. It is a strange single piece of plastic that you need to bend into shape. After some manipulation, I got mine to work, but the pull lever comes out at an angle. Oh well I can deal with that, but this design does not provide enough leverage to actually get the stopper to do its function. Maybe they should rename it as a “slower”, as this thing in no way “stops” the water from draining. This is truly a junk design and it is shameful that HD offers this.

Yes, as noted previously this is junk and not worth the cheap price. You may think you are saving some money, but it’s quite likely you will be returning this and will have wasted a good bit of time. In my case, I stripped the plastic threads while hand-tightening it...I didn’t even get to the step of using a wrench to give it another 1/4 turn. I’m no gorilla, but sure enough this happened. And what do you know...it leaked. So back to the store for the next higher model. Hopefully HD puts some pressure on this mfr to up their game.

What an incredible piece of unusable garbage. I picked 2 of these up on the way to a customer's house, and when I realized how bad the design was I had to modify this to avoid having to use that stupid plastic rod holder that is supposed to operate the even dumber design of a pop up...whoever designed this needs to lose their job. I was stuck miles away from nowhere with this, and thankfully I had used parts on the truck that I could use to make modifications to make this marginally functional. Worst purchade i ever made at Home Depot.

The product was junk. The removable pop up seemed like a great idea but never worked correctly. The basic install went OK but the pop up would never come close to sealing. The instructions didn't show all the mechanism parts. I tried every possible assembly configuration. The pop up never fully closed. Also, the plastic linkage seemed like a good idea as compared to the traditional linkage but it interferred with the water lines. Removed and returned. What a waste of time!

An absolute piece of junk. Cheap materials that don't fix together... just absolute garbage. I bought two for a two-sink project and neither one of them work. I just don't know how to describe my disbelief that a product like this can make the shelves. Waste of time and money.

Purchased this body because it is metal, not plastic. It turns out that the drain plug lever fitting is plastic. My previous drain was plastic and this fitting leaked. This part should be metal. Also, the drain lever attachment which raises and lowers the drain plug is a one piece plastic contraption that you attach with a rubber ring that does not hold. I do not recommend this product.

                ZERO STARS
I’m sorry I even had to give this one star in order to leave a review. It’s a HORRIBLE product. The “rubber linkage” that’s just supposed to easily just slide over the lift rod and lever DOES NOT just slide over. After fighting to get one side in, as soon as you try to get the rod in the other side pops out. Do not buy this unless you want to be absolutely and completely disgusted and frustrated. I took the drain apart and returned the whole mess. Awful!!

Total waste of time and money. I bought one of these for another bath reno I did and it broke when installing it. I ate the money as it wasn't that expensive and just wanted to finish. Doing my second bath reno my local HD store didn't have the metal drain body in the finish I wanted to so I bought this again hoping for the best. Nope. I didn't break it but it leaked at the connection with the rubber gasket. When I tightened by hand I could just about get it to stop leaking but then one last little turn, less than a quarter inch, and the nut would jump the threads and it would be loose. I give up. Taking it back and getting metal. I might have to get it online but whatever.

Please do not buy this product. I've installed a lot of drain bodies in the last 30 or so years and many of them were cheaply manufactured, but they all worked. I don't even know where to start with this one. If Home Depot continues to sell products with similar quality (one star because zero is not an option) I will be shopping elsewhere. The $300 I lost in billed hours jacking with this thing went right down the drain (pardon the pun) . Watch the video. The guy skips right over the part where you hook up the plunger https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWFtUAJOV_I . Why, because he would have looked like an idiot.

Plastic is brittle and threads leak unless sealed with putty. I would have to agree with the reviews citing the design and quality of this product. I just bought a second one to replace the one that broke off at the collar under the sink. The plastic there is thinner due to the threads and is too brittle to withstand the occasional bump of a laundry hamper. The leaking from the collar nut is also a design problem, but can be fixed by using a thin bead of plumber's putty between the nut and the friction washer. I also use plumber's putty instead of silicone caulk under the drain flange so I can remove/replace things more easily.

Terrible Product. I've installed many drains in my lifetime that I've bought from various places. This drain Leaks like crazy after so many attempts. I bought two of them for my house. I returned the other one. I wasted so much time tightening , loosening, retaping, resealing, and cursing over such a simple task. I had zero problems putting the drain for my other bathroom because I didn't use this crappy product. I gotbthe other in on the first try. Without exaggeration, this one kept me frustrated for days. Life is short. Don't waste your life with this poorly made product. It should be taken off the shelves.

The overall drain was good. However, the plastic stopper actuator is problematic. It's difficult to align properly and the metal stem tends to work its way out of the plastic sleeve. Once it is aligned it works OK, but is stiff. If I had to do it again, I would use another product.

How many 1 star reviews does it take before this product is discontinued? The rubber lever linkage is crap! The lift rod just slips out, which you don't find out until you are completely done with the installation. I'll bet if Home Depot had to pay for professional installation for the second install these would be off the shelf.

Whatever you do, DO NOT BUY plastic drain assemblies. They are cheaply made and guaranteed to cause you grief. It is worth the extra 10 dollars (maybe a little more) to get a quality drain assembly.
