We are sorry to hear that you purchased the wrong batteries. It is important to check your battery specifications prior to purchasing. These are not AA batteries, they are 14430 batteries.

Solar batteries look similar so it is important to note the correct battery size - AA, AAA, 14430, or 18500. Also, as stated on the packaging, the batteries are shipped partially discharged and should be allowed to charge in direct sunlight prior to initial use. If the batteries are the correct size, the issue may be with the lights themselves. Solar rechargeable batteries come in different sizes and specifications. Solar rechargeable batteries are available in the following sizes: AAA, AA, 14430, and 18500. In this case, these 14430 size batteries are not the correct size for your application. These batteries are the 14430 size, not AA. For AA solar rechargeable batteries, you would need model #79912.
