We have been rearranging and upgrading our ceiling fans. Over the years we found that remotes are great where we have no wall switches.

My unit was Montego Bay; the repair unit was Hunter. It was a shot in the dark with an incompatibility issue. The first time I tried it, I followed the instruction sheet. It did not work. I pulled the wires apart and started again using common sense. When it was reconnected it worked! If necessary, I would buy the unit again.

Works as advertised. I had a little problem with the wiring instructions until I found this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YnREd5vgmA which showed and told me what to do with my red wire.

I have a Hunter ceiling fan that the remote went bad and Hunter stopped making a replacement remote for it. I took fan down and bought a new one and put old one in box to throw away. I saw an ad for this remote with receiver and I decided to give it a try. It was very easy to change and saved a 200$ ceiling fan from the trash. Put it back up in another room and it works great.

It won’t let me have decent light. It’s “forced” reduced lighting. I don’t like that at all.

To activate the dimming function, press and hold the up and down arrows for 5 seconds. Once the dimming is activated, press and hold the light button to adjust the light's brightness. This will work without having to install the receiver. Hunter customer service did not tell us this but we figured it out on our own. If you hold the pairing button down for 30 seconds, it makes a loud beeping sound. I think that resets the pairing, which allowed us to pair the remote directly with our fan. Hope this helps anyone else who lost their original hunter remote!

I don't love the settings. I wish they were easier to understand. I had to tape the instruction sheet to the wall next to the remote so I could remember it until I had it memorized. It's not as intuitive as I would have liked

Dimmer doesn't work
The fan control works fine but the dimmer is worthless. It is either at the brightest or dimmest setting. To adjust you have to press and hold the light button. After a few seconds the brightness starts to change. You're supposed to let go of the button when it gets to the desired brightness. Unfortunately, letting go doesn't stop it from changing. It keeps on going until it reaches one of the extremes. I searched online and found others are having the same issue.

It works but could be improved.
I purchased this to fix my office fan that had a dead receiver. It works but the dimmer switch for the lamp is not very great. You must hold the button and it starts to dim sooner or later instead of instantly. The instructions are OK but the print is pretty small. If you take your time, it will work for you.
