The flap for the pet opening is too thick. My dogs refuse to go out when it's down. I have to tape it open for them to use the door which pretty much defeats the purpose. I'm going to have to find something to modify it so I can keep the elements out, my a/c in and my animals will use it.

This was really difficult to install. Ended up having to hire someone. I love the door now that it's in and my dog loves it too.

It take up a lot of the sliding glass door space for human to get out. My little dogs do not like the hard plastic modules. Their old one had a single plastic flap.

The BEST investment I made! It allows the dog to come in and out, but keeps the cold out! EXCELLENT PRODUCT!!!

The door looks great and is of high quality. The only problem is getting my two shih tzus to use it on their own. I have to help them push the door open. It isn’t because they can’t, it’s that they won’t. It’s been up a little over two weeks and I’m not giving up.

Excellent quality. Installation was a bit involved however the fit is awesome!

Flap door is hinged with hard plastic. There was no way our little puppy could push it open. The product should be marked for older, strong dogs..... We had to return it. On the positive side, it was a quality door very well made. If you're looking for a dog door for an older animal I would recommend it.

Construction of the door is nice and of good quality. I have a 94" tall door so i had to install an L bracket at the top and secure it tonthe door and top track of the sliding door. It did not feel secure too me at the top as i could push the top into the house past the sliding door. Beaware that you will need a sliding door assy that is wider than 5 feet or once this is installed the sliding door will not open enough to get in and out.

I needed to salvage my old clasp which required some customization. I was also (but probably shouldn't have been) a little surprised how narrow my door opening is now... However, the quality of the window, fit, and look are otherwise very good.

Installation was a bit more involved than anticipated however this is a high quality product and working quite well.

I recommend this door! We were able to install it with no problem. The magnetic closure is great. Our puppies are 18 lbs and the medium size door is the right size. It would've been perfect except that the door look from door to panel doesn't go up all the way. That would only be a half star.

Top notch quality, difficult to install.

Instructions were very unclear. It took way longer to install than it seemed like it should have. I still had to make some modifications. The product itself, once installed works well and I like it, so does my dog.

I give this a two star mainly due to the difficult install. I'm a very handy guy and had install and uninstall 4-5 times due to poor instructions and not knowing I needed to change anything until I was ready to close the door and install the door latch that would not reach! The door itself showed up with a crack due to shipping but nothing I couldn't fix or cover up, and the dog door looks and works great, but does not keep out driving rain. I would recommend this product for functionality, but you better be very creative to reverse engineer the install, have 3-4hrs to install, and be very handy!

Needed to go further than instructions as my door was in between measurements in brochures. I thought I had read one number that was ok, but door I received did not make the size I read. had to jury rig installation.

This door was easy to install. I wish they made a vinyl dog door that was more reasonably priced. Home Depot had the most competitive prices of all the places I looked. So far the door it working well. It has started to squeak a little with the pups going in and out of it. I will just need to add some grease to loosen it up. It appears to insulate pretty well. My husband was able to make it so our current sliding door does latch to the dog door, I know some people has this issue. I would recommend this product for people who didn't want to punch permanent hole in their home like us. We have two huskies and they can get in and out just fine.

I just moved into a home have no tools, needed some to retro fit your door returned it to store for 3d time ed

It did not meet my expectation, i was sad, but oh well. Couldn't go in or out the door.

When I ordered this pet door I was expecting one that would be simple to install. It wasn't. There's a lot of measuring and drilling. But the worst part is the printed instructions are inaccurate. I used a video at the Ideal website. The door is now almost fully installed. But where we're supposed to screw the top section to the door frame, we can't drill into the door frame! I've contacted Ideal and sent them pics. No response. The best thing is that, even without being fully secured and having no seal or weather stripping, the heat stays outside and the flap stays perfectly still in 15 - 20 mph winds.

Flimsy, Didn't Fit, Hard to Install, Had to bring it back to HD

Easy to install. Has all sorts of pieces for the different door types and sizes. I did not have to use any screws at all to install it. Fit my new sliding door perfectly. The folks at Home Depot helped me to buy the correct size. Door is beautiful and matches my new sliding door perfectly. Worth e

This door works great with our new vinyl patio door.We wanted something we could take in and out as needed. Installing it permanently would have voided the warranty on our new door. Also works well to keep out the cold.

Everything installed perfectly UNTIL THE VERY LAST STEP. Instructions say to "snap" in the final extrusions - one inside, one outside, a a way to create a seal between the sliding door and the pet door when the sliding door is closed. The two pieces they gave us do NOT snap into anything. They fit into the groove, and just fall out. When I called the help number, the unprofessional guy on the phone said that nothing is supposed to snap into anything (despite what the instructions say) and I should watch a video he told me about on youtube. I watched the video, which ALSO SAID THEY SHOULD SNAP IN. So, as it stands, I have a pet door installed, and a draft between my slider and the pet door. Have no idea what to do.
