Good Value
Good Product and Price but they are a year old already. They have a shelf life of 10 years so you only have 9 years left. This was a 4 pack and one was bad and had to be exchanged. Its was a big deal as they are sold as one item. We had a false alarm a couple of days later. Don't know why? They seem to be working OK now.

Stay away unless you enjoy false alarms!
If you like being woken up from a sound sleep in the middle of the night and freaking out your family with a false alarm blaring all over your house with all the sensors going off and NOT knowing which is the one giving you the false alarm then THIS is the product for you. After calling the help line a few times, I was told that it was most likely a bug that got into the machine and then I was asked "don't you prefer a false alarm than no alarm? Way too expensive for what it is.

Hello. No, a false alarm is never good. False alarms are most commonly caused by something interfering with the sensor. To clean, hold the unit by its edge and thoroughly blow through the gap on the side of the unit with compressed air (like keyboard cleaner). We recommend cleaning out all of your smoke alarms at least every 6 months to a year and at this point we would recommend cleaning out all of your other alarms as well as a preventative. If you have interconnected alarms, the first step is finding the initiating unit, as that is the key. Once you know where the issue is happening, it is usually easy to figure out what is causing the alarms to go off. To find the initiating unit, look for one that is flashing RED or GREEN at least once every second while in alarm mode, then follow the reset procedure on that unit. If the alarm stopped on its own before you could find that flashing light, the initiating unit will flash for 1.5 seconds every 10 seconds. If there are no obvious signs of a fire, the alarm should be cleaned before being reinstalled. Some of your alarms may be in one the locations to avoid listed in the owner's manual. This would especially include alarms being installed within 3 ft (.9m) of a forced air supply ducts used for heating or cooling, ceiling or whole house ventilating fans, or other high air flow areas. We recommend that alarms not be installed near vents, flues, chimneys, or fans. We recommend that alarms not be installed near doors or windows near areas directly exposed to the weather. We strongly recommend not to install these alarms in garages, attics, and crawl spaces as you will get temperatures, dust, insects, and chemicals that can cause nuisance alarms.

Try cleaning out the alarms. If you have the issue again, find the alarm setting off all of the others and call us with that alarm in hand at 1-800-880-6788 so we can get this resolved for you.

Was ready to wack it down.
We replaced our old one with this one. After being up for a few days, it went off at 10:30 pm. I was suffering with a head cold and was awoke from a deep sleep. It stopped and then continued with a beep, beep, beep. We took it down and replaced the battery. So far so good. The battery was dead.

Thank you for writing this review! There is a common perception that you need to change the battery if the unit is going into a false alarm with the 3 loud "beep, beep, beep" pattern. If the battery is low however, Kidde alarms will start to chirp with a single beep periodically. False alarms are most commonly caused by something interfering with the sensor. Perhaps a tiny spider getting inside the alarm set off the sensor for "Fire." Most likely whatever particle was on the sensor moved off when you brought down the alarm off the ceiling. Take note of the location of the alarm. Kidde recommends that smoke alarms not be installed near air vents, ceiling fans, or flues. We also recommend that alarms not be installed near doors or windows near areas directly exposed to the weather. We strongly advise against installing these alarms in garages and attics; however, a Heat Detector can typically be installed in those 2 places. We recommend cleaning the alarm if it is going into full alarm (and there is no apparent reason why). To clean, please hold the unit on its edge and thoroughly blow through the gap around the side of the alarm with a can of compressed air (like keyboard cleaner).
