Klean-Strip Premium Paint Stripper will get the job done - but the odor is really overwhelming (it contains Dimethyl Carbonate & Xylene)! Be absolutely sure you work in a very well-vented area and use chemical-resistant gloves and other products as recommended! Be aware though, this stripper will destroy anything plastic (it states you can use a toothbrush to get into the small areas but it ate the plastic bristles). I ended up buying a paint brush that's made for this type of material. Since I do not have a garage, and the winter weather is not working in my favor, I've only had time to strip one out of four chairs with this product (see photo). You can brush the stripper on and wait 15 minutes but after trying that once, I painted it on, waited 15 minutes and brushed it on again. The product states to throw it away after 3 months once opened. I hope I can finish the final chair before that time frame (I received 3 different paint removal products to sample).

Tested to see if this would fully remove old auto paint. It did with ease. The car in question had enamel paint applied over the original lacquer factory finish. Tried it on a piece of a fender that was going to be replaced due to rust because if the stripper caused a bad reaction or problem I wouldn't lose the whole fender. The first application removed the enamel layer pretty easily after about 10-15 minutes. The thick, gel like consistency of the stripper made it very easy to apply and keep in place while it was working without having to worry about it spreading where I didn't want it or dripping on the floor. It does have some pretty powerful fumes so I did all of this outdoors or you will need to have really good ventilation. Take care of your lungs, you can't buy new ones. Also know this is flammable. I applied a second coat to see if it would lift the original (50 year old) lacquer finish. It did so with ease, right down to the bare metal. I haven't tried it on modern auto paint but I bet it would work there too. Now the issue becomes cleaning the stripper residue from the metal and making sure that new paint will adhere without problems. Used mineral spirits, lacquer thinner and glass cleaner and it seems to be all gone but I haven't tried to apply new sealer or primers to the old metal yet. We shall see but so far it seems like it will work.

This is great for removing all sorts of paints and varnishes. I have used this product for years with only one time it didn't soften all of the paint on a step stool my father in-law gave me. I suspect that the paint was an older formulation and I should soaked some rags and let those sit on the paint. I have tried several spray-on paint removers, however the film they create is too thin to get down through the layers of paint.

The Klean Strip Premium Stripper is certainly the best product to re-do or re-finish that old cabinet or table or dresser. Whatever it is you're going to re-purpose, this is the best one to take off that old residue and finish. I love the paste that clings to the surface of the old cabinet I'm re-doing. And it's FAST, only a fifteen minute wait on this. It will strip paint, epoxy, polyurethane from wood, metal and masonry. This will certainly take care of my cabinet and allow me to give it that new look. This makes it so easy. No disappointment with this stripper.

Have used strippers before and have encountered a strong chemical aroma that caused aversion to using the product. This stripper is odorless, easy to apply, and not with any chemical detriments found in others. Used an old door for the testing. Application was easy with a small brush. The chemical is creamy and easy to apply. Had a problem seeing where it was applied as it dried quite quickly. No problem with removal with a combination of steel wool and rags. Dried totally overnight and was able to re-stain the door easily.

Tried this paint stripper out on a wrought iron patio table. Wasn't sure how well it would work. Table had pieces chipped off and areas of rust. I was very pleased with the quick results of this product! It says it works fast and it did. The old black finish was bubbling up as quickly as I could brush it on there! WOW I was finished it no time at all. Wear rubber gloves and I used an old paint brush I had on hand from a previous project. This is a great product .

This product is recommended for stripping, paint, epoxy & poly urethane from wood, metal & masonry. I used it on an individually handcrafted butcher block worktable, I have used in my kitchen for 38 years, to strip the layers of varnish & wood sealant & polyurethane. The finish had started peeling and needed removed & refinished. Per instructions, I liberally brushed the remover over the top surface and waited 15 mins. The finish had started bubbling up so I scraped about 1/2 of the surface but it was not coming up very well. I brushed another layer, waited 15 mins, scraped again, made progress, but not enough. So I put another generous coat on and waited 1 1/2 hrs. There was still quite bit that was NOT coming up even with extensive scraping. I eventually had to use another brand of stripper. Finally, the layers were dissolved with the other product and 99% scraped off easily, I guess the layers of the finish were a factor in the performance of this product. I imagine it would work quicker/better for items with average or light coating and would recommend for those type areas but not for challenging surfaces . Easy to use. Easy to clean brushes, scrapers, etc. with hot soap and water.

I like to restore antique furniture and that often means that really bad old finishes must be stripped. Often decades or even centuries of old finish need to be removed. I used some of the stripper on an oak chair someone recently stripped and then improperly applied a coat of polyurethane which had to be removed. Polyurethane is much harder to remove than antique paints. The Urethane was easily removed. If you look at the photos below, I also applied the Klean Strip premium paint remover to a section of a hundred year old cedar door and let it sit for only 10 minutes. I wiped it off with a cloth and every bit of the old finish came off leaving the beautiful cedar with a nice patina and ready to refinish. The thick consistency of the stripper keeps the product from running until it is ready to remove. This is a great stripper that I will continue to use and recommend it a great buy. Two tips, first don’t apply the stripper over the entire project unless it is small. Easier to wipe off if it doesn’t sit too long. Second, use plenty of ventilation so you are not breathing a lot of fumes. For safety, I usually strip paint outside or with fan assisted ventilation. You should do that with all paints, strippers, and products that put off fumes. I love this easy to use product.

This Klean-Strip Premium Stripper is a new “Non-Methylene Chloride Formula.” Methylene Chloride was removed from the market because of health safety reasons. This new formula does not wrinkle up as much as the old formula of removers did. The semi paste formula is thick so it will stick to a vertical surface with minimal running or dripping making it less messy to use. It softened the paint I tested it on and it easily scrapped off the wood surface. The new formula just doesn’t give you as much of the visual wrinkling of the paint to let you know that it was ready to scrape like the old formulas did. Even with the new formula, it still has quite a smell to it. So I’d recommend using it outside if at all possible. It rinses clean with water. It stripped the latex paint I tested it on in 15 minutes. It can be used to remove latex paint, oil/alkyd paint (45 minutes soak time on oil/alkyd paint), polyurethane, epoxy, varnish and shellac. It can be used on most wood, metal, or masonry surfaces. Don’t forget to shake the can well before using, or you might not get the results you desire.

I selected this paint stripper to try on a really tough, 20 year old, multi coated garage floor. Over the past 20 years the floor was first coated with an acrylic latex concrete paint. Years after that it was coated with an epoxy garage floor paint that was topped with a clear non slip coating. I utilized the suggested tools for removal (see photo) and applied according to manufacturer's directions. After one heavy coat was applied and allowed to stand for 15+ minutes I scraped and scrubbed using scrapers and brushes. The results was the one coat removed the top clear coat and penetrated and weakened the epoxy in small areas (see photos). Of the three paint removers I have tried this one was good for penetrating one full layer. Good but not the best. I am sure it would be more effective on latex type paint.

Klean-Strip 1 gal. Premium Paint Remover and Stripper I am always refinishing something. For the last few years depending on the project I have been sanding the old finishes off. No danger of raised wood letting the old finish bleed back into the grain that way. I have used Klean strip products for just about every painting and varnishing job I have for around the last 20 years. So when I noticed that product would not raise the wood. I gave it a try. It did not raise wood at all. It removed 3 and four layers of paint and finish in a single go. Just work an area you can scrape and clean in a 15 min time frame. It removed paint and dark stains from poly pebble. It is an extreme labour saver for me as sanding an old finish off takes forever. It worked in the cracks and corners, just use a blade or a strong brush. It also did a decent job on the darker finishes. No stripper will totally remove a dark stain from wood, because it gets in the grain, everything on top comes off. I tested and used this on concrete, softwoods, hardwoods, and metal. It was an amazing time saver.

This stripper is the best for removing any type of paint, chewing it to a flaking substance in less than 15 min with even oil based paints that are 10 years old or over. I found the perfect application, removing mastic from asebestos tiles where you need to maintain constant wetness, while working under high saturation in the air. That's why other solutions may work better but are more harmful when inhaled. This is a very powerful solvent and there are very few materials that can resist. It leaves the wood base dry and ready to work with, you can prep it linseed oil or paint over it. I found that it brings out wood grain even if there is no paint on it. Applying a little and leaving it to dry and then stain and oil makes the grain really stand out with even natural lines. It is a very versatile product with multiple applications at a great price. Coverage is excellent and application takes even long brushstrokes.

Effective product for removing old urethane, varnish and other finishes. Used Klean-Strip to strip our wood stairs. The product is thick and applies easily and evenly with a brush and thus allows you to get it into crack and crevices. It also applied well to the vertical surfaces. I applied to stairs that had at least 2-3 coats of urethane that was very worn in places. After a couple of hours it was easy to remove with a plastic scraper and all the old finish came off leaving a clean surface for refinishing. A new coat of stain/finish returned the stairs to new condition, (see photo). The stripper did not raise the grain of the wood therefore the final stain and finish was smooth and even. I was able to strip the entire stairs and refinish them in a 2 day project.

Works really well as long as you follow the instructions exactly as listed. You always want to wear gloves when you area working with paint remover and stripper and as an extra layer of precaution I like to lay down a large layer of plastic under where I'm working to ensure that it doesn't get anywhere I don't want it to get because once it is on, it can definitely be hard to remove!

Like most paint strippers I've tried, this one is okay, but by no means a miracle product. I've got old paint on brick that I'm trying to get off, and this stripper works fine as long as its application is followed by a good amount of work with a stiff brush. This is true of most products I've tried, but I'd really love to find something stronger that I could just spray off with a pressure washer or something and get the paint off.

A newer version of an old favorite I have used for years. This paint remover has never disappointed. It is thicker (gel like) stripper which holds well to the material as it penetrates. I used it on 40 year old baseboard molding with a "zillion" layers of different types of paint and caulking on the edges. The fumes were tolerable in the well ventilated room, however I used a respirator not knowing if there was any lead based paint applied over the years. I applied and waited 15 minutes per the directions and the stripper removed almost all the layers of paint except the original base primer. (See photos). I re-applied to a different section and waited 1 hour. The stripper removed all the layers of paint, the primer and the caulking from the top and bottom edges. The photos show the results with no additional cleaning (mineral spirits) or sanding. The results were better than expected. I highly recommend this paint remover for its ease of use and lower VOC than the previous versions. 5 Stars

I ordered this Klean-Strip Premium paint remover and stripper as an item in the SEEDS program. I have a few things around the house that could use refinishing, and as an amateur wood-butcher, I find sanding to be slow death. However, I had a set of three TV trays and a pair of wood chairs to start on, and it was vacation time. The stuff is easy to use: shake well, wipe on, let sit, and scrape off. Issues I had in using were: 1.) It says on the can it is a gel. Even after shaking it up, I think “viscous liquid” is more accurate. It will run and drip. 2.) For this reason, I used newspaper under the items as a drop cloth. Use something throwaway, and NOT plastic. See #5 below. If you don’t, be aware of the surface you are working over. This stuff will strip epoxy paint off cement as well. Trust me. 3.) It also says 15 minutes setting time. I found this to be optimistic. An hour or so is better. 4.) Low VOC does not mean odor free. Work in an open, well ventilated space. 5.) The instructions recommend the use of plastic tools to apply and remove. Check the pictures to see what it does to an application sponge and a plastic putty knife during removal. I ended up using a chip-removal brush for application, and a metal drywall knife for removal. Assume anything that is not metal will be trashed. 6.) I still had to do a lot of sanding. Though probably not nearly as much as I would have. I don’t know what else to say, so see the pictures.

I frequently work on antiques such as water pumping windmills and other older metals which are painted. I have tried a few different products to remove paint without much success. I like the Klein Strip premium stripper as it lacks any harsh smells and is more gel like for an even application than a runny liquid. The gel like stripper stays in place and spreads easily to remove paint. I have tried this premium stripper on a few projects and I am pleased at how it removes paint on metal with minimal effort. I have not tried it on any other material, but believe it would work just fine.

This Klean Strip paint remover is just the thing for removing old paint, varnish, polyurethane, and epoxy finishes. It works on oil and water based products. The remover is safe on metal, wood, and masonry. It is good for small to medium jobs and should not be used for floors. There are fumes and proper protection should be used. It is easy to apply. Just pour some in a metal container and paint on. Leave for at least fifteen minutes, and then scrape some off with a plastic scraper to see how clean it looks. Multiple layers of paint can require more applications. Mineral spirits should be used after to clean it off and let dry. It does a good job.

This product really works but I suggest you keep the area well ventilated. It really has a strong odor and take all precautions as you would handling any chemical. Wear gloves, apply with care, suggest not using in confined areas, it is very strong odor, wear safety googles. Easy pour out container, a little difficult to open but that is a good quality to keep it safe. I highly recommend this product but caution the user to be careful and use the proper personal protection equipment.

Working on cabinet, I have often needed to strip old finish from old cabinets. This product has helped in getting stain off of cabinets. You just apply it and let it sit for a few minutes. Then scrape the finish and it will come off fairly easy. You still have to sand the cabinets once finished but it does a pretty good job. It works better than many other strippers.

Works great! I used this for a latex paint [dark green] on concrete. Left it on overnight, covered with plastic as per instructions, then did a light scrubbing and it removed the paint very well. No smell! Hard to believe but it's true; no odor! Much easier than trying to scrub it with acetone. Had to strip about 7 layers of paint off kitchen cabinetry and was concerned about the odor and whether or not this would be strong enough to do the job. Worked beautifully! No smell, lifted the paint easily and had very little dripping

I ordered and received the 1 qt. Klean-Strip Paint Remover and Stripper several days ago. I have used this product on many projects in the past on both metal and wood. It really is incredible how fast this product works to remove layers of old paint or polyurethane. Simply brush it on, allow it to “work’ for about 10-15 minutes and simply scrape the old paint residue away with a plastic spatula. It’s a messy job, but much easier than scraping and sanding. Be sure to follow the labeled directions and wear gloves. As stated earlier, I have used this product many times and have always had good results. I highly recommend this product as it actually works as advertised.

The Klean-Strip 1qt. premium paint remover and stripper is a great paint stripper. I have used Klean-Strip products for a few years now and always had good results with them. This stripper removes multiple layers of both latex and oil-based paints in as little as 15min. for latex paint in as little as 45min. for oil-based paint. The stripper is a semi-paste formula that is brushed on your project. I use a plastic spreader to scrape the paint off.

This Klean-Strip 1 qt. Premium Paint Remover and Stripper is better than some I have tried. I do like that it is more of a paste-like product, versus a runny liquid, so it clings to the surface longer, and has a better chance for the chemical to work. It is not magic, however, so don't expect it to solve all your problems, but rather to make your work a bit easier. Be sure to use it outdoors, with plenty of ventilation. Thanks Klean-Strip, and Home Depot!

This premium paint remover and strip are called clean strip, removes multiple layers of the paint that I sprayed onto my work chest. I want to see if it would come off easy which it does. Now I can safely use this to remove the paint I sprayed on the metal legs of my grill outside. It should come off very easily. Are used a rag although I should’ve used a paint scraper, but I had to leave it on in about 15 minutes. But it worked well I highly recommend us

This is the easiest paint stripper I've ever used. It can remove paint in as little as 15 minutes. It removes multiple layers with one application. It can be used on any type of wood. It can also be used on metal items. Be sure to wear protective gloves and safety glass eyewear when using it. Make sure your work space is well ventilated. Store in a dry location out of reach of children and pets.

I wanted to try this on some house overspray on to some paving stones. I applied as the directions stated, but instead of using a scraper or putty knife after the 15 minutes I just used a garden hose with a strong straight flow out of the nozzle. If washed it right off. Very easy to do. Next project I will use it like you should on a step stool. It was easy to pour out and spread around. It seemed to dry up after the 15 minutes, but it definitely worked.

I used this stripper on a piece of oak that I had finished several years ago with stain and a few coats of Exterior Polyurethane. I brushed it on and waited the 15 minutes stated on the label. I was amazed at how well it worked. The Polyurethane was soft enough to remove almost completely with a plastic putty knife. Very little ( less than 5%) remained for a second application. I was very pleased with the results. Although I would not use this indoors, the fumes were much better than many strippers I have used. My photo shows another board with the same finish before stripping and the one that I completed.

Thick gloopie paste that brushes on easily and stays where you put it. Once you get a good rhythm going you can cover a lot of nasty old paint with this stripper. Working on an old boat with my brother and we managed to knock nearly all of the old paint off in a solid day. Just brush, let it sit til the paint looks like soggy corn flakes, then run a paint scraper through.
