The door, in the end, looks pretty good. And, more importantly, it fit my very specific needs - but before buying this door, please read my review. I have a 50-year-old house that had its original front door. The wood surrounding the door was in excellent shape and the door itself was a weird size - 35.25 x 78.75 (because it was custom made originally) so I either needed a wood slab door that I could cut to size or a custom prehung fiberglass door made to size. Since it was going to be a difference of several thousand dollars once the installation cost was factored in, I decided to go with the wood door; and in that case, the door was exceptional - 5 stars. But this door was in no way ready to be painted/stained and installed. When HD called it "knotty alder", I assumed (based on the pictures that HD posted) that it would have some dark spots that I could prime and paint over. Boy was I wrong. The door I received had multiple knots that went 1/2" into the depth of the door - sometimes the knots were in the same location on each side of the door. I had told my contractor that I would paint the door before he came out to cut it down and install it; but little did I know that I spend several hours having to fill in holes, wait 2 days for it to dry, then spend time sanding it before I could even prime and paint it. I also underestimated how deep some of the natural splits were in the wood and I assumed (incorrectly) that the primer and paint would fill those - by the time I realized that some of them would show in the final production, it was too late to fix them. 2-stars My other issue with the door is that when the door was assembled in the factory, someone handled the glass with bare hands and there are smudge marks on the inside of the two layers of glass that I have no way of cleaning out. 0-stars. Ultimately, I like the door a lot. I see all the flaws, but probably no one else will. And I spent considerably less money on getting a new door and casing fabricated. If you are going to buy this door make sure that you are prepared to fully "finish" it - possibly fill in all holes and cracks with wood putty and have a small personal sander with a fine-grit sandpaper. I will say that painting the latticework at the top was really easy - no taping required - just let it completely dry and scrape off any paint on the glass with a fine razor blade. I tried to post several pictures of the door in various stages, but HD will only let me post 1 image - so I picked this image so you can see how much wood fill just one side needed.

Only installed a week or so but so far so good and everything is as expected. If you buy the unfinished model and plan to paint, be sure to wood fill the knots before painting, it looks rough otherwise

This is a gorgeous door and 100% as advertised. It's knotty alder so YES there are knots. If you don't want knots, maybe don't go with a KNOTTY alder solid wood door. Would definitely recommend.

beautiful door ,great look, great price

I previously left a review (jessicann) but after having it installed for some time we've noticed it has pretty poor insulation if you live in a cold area. We are in Upstate New York with cold winters and we get a very cold draft around the door, even after we added weatherstripping. It is also very hard to lock as I believe it is slightly warped, but it was very hard to prove that through pictures to their customer service team. I do still believe it is a beautiful, high quality door but take the insulation of the door into account if you live in a cold area. We are looking into professional installment of higher quality weather stripping so hopefully that will help. I will be so disappointed if we end up having to replace the door for fiberglass.

I love the door but the dental shelf was not on the door. That is a big part of the style. I called as soon as we knew it was missing, we did not unpackage door till installer was there to install. Krosswood doors still has not said what they can do. Today is day 6 since door has been installed. We sent pictures to Krosswood by email as they requested. I called after 3 days they said if you don't hear after 5 days call us back again. I will call today.

Delivery was as expected, but they sent the wrong door, even though the packing slip showed the ordered door. Home Depot processed my return and after waiting over two weeks I called the pick up company and they told me they didn’t know when they would make it to pick up the door because I didn’t live near one of their “hubs.” So, I had to load up the door and drive it 45 minutes one way to return it to my nearest Home Depot store.

The door is beautiful, but had a few pretty deep knots that I ended up filling with black wood filler before we stained and finished the door. Just something to be aware of. The delivery was terrible, as it was almost a week later than what was promised. When it was finally delivered, the company was very professional and did a great job.

Very nice door but the latch cut out had to be modified to make it work.

Solid door. It came fast. Stained great.

I purchased this as a replacement for my aging and rotting front door. While the finished product looks good and turned out nice, the door itself was such of poor quality. The locking holes didn't even line up properly and I had to re-chisel out the door frame to properly align the locking mechanism's and the strike plates. In addition, there were so many knots in the wood that was used for the door that there were actual holes completely through the wood so you could actually see light.

The door is great, however getting someone out to put it in is another story! I'm afraid the door my be ruined do to just sitting in the garage for three weeks! I call into the store and don't get anyone who knows what's going on.

Itt is a beautiful door, wood is good. But for nearly $2000 you would expect better quality. Glass windows need to be all scraped with the razor to take all paint off, lots of splinters sticking out, not perfect edges. This company needs better quality control!!!

The door had several gouges in it. When spending that much, I expected better quality.

They make horrible products!!! You’ll see the problems and think it’s not so bad that you have to send it back. I’ll just gat a scratch kit you’ll say. The way they wrap it helps the illusion. Open it all the way including the door cut all those straps I guarantee you’ll send it back right then and there. Tip the delivery guys it’s not their fault!!!

The door is beautiful at first glance, my contractor didn’t look at it until my old door/frame was removed though, and once he did he identified two glaring quality issues that would need repair. The stain is missing in several areas, there was a chip in the frame that is visible when you open the door, and there is a significant crack in the door at the bottom that will need to be repaired.

I absolutely love my new door!! It’s solid, gorgeous and well built. The only problem is I now how to remodel my front porch so it’s as nice as the front door, lol.

The door has a nice natural look; however, being natural wood, the door has a little bow to it and doesn't seal at top very well. Can't just return as it wasn't noticed until installed

Worked out great and my customer was very happy!
