This strip looks nice and would work very well in an office or kitchen where you want multiple outlets, but the receptacles are too close together. Especially trying to chain multiple strips together, which is intended bc the hardware is included in the pack, it is very difficult and time-consuming to install. If there were just 3 or 4 receptacles per 36” length this would be a great product. There is only 4” between receptacles now, and the tolerances are so tight it has to be pre-assembled, and it gets very difficult with multiple strips.

I successfully installed this over my workbench, wired from the back, and it does the job and looks good. BUT... It is indeed much harder to install than it need to be because of some wacky design issues. (Legrand are you listening?) Note that the backplate has the holes the knockouts for screws are NOT QUITE 4 ins apart. ?? So if you are careful you can screw into 2 adjacent studs. Then there are the knockouts for the wire feed. One of them near the end is actually opposite an outlet and so useless. Did the guy who designed the backplate talk to the guy who designed the frontplate? At the other end the knockout is very, very close to the end - it slightly overlaps the end plate (repeat question). The video shows bringing the feed wire in and lining up the 3 connectors at the end but this was not possible with my unit; there simply was not enough room. I was able to use the hot wire connector at the end and bend the feed wire to fit but I could not even fit in a small wire nut to cap off the neutral wire. The other wires I had to feed toward the center along the side of the outlets. Doable but very difficult and there is no room to tuck in any extra wire after you make the connections so the lengths have to be cut exactly. You have to work with the two front and back pieces very close together and AWG 12 wire is very stiff. The video shows the end plate just slipping in - even that is wrong - you have to whack it with a hammer. The bottom line is - it can be installed and it looks good but it is very painstaking and you have no room to make a mistake.

I use for under counter kitchen designs. It takes finesse however the end results are worth it.

Would give this a 5 star but I thought it should of had connectors to cap off the end you don't connect.I felt uncomfortable leaving cut ends in metal tray so I used small twist nuts on ends. I added it to the end of my island to have more outlets for items. Be sure you look and see which knock out to use if connecting in middle of strip. Some of the knock outs are to close to outlets.

This product will not snap together easily. It takes a lot of man power to put together, and truly is not worth it for the average person. Our electrician did eventually get it put together, but commercial electric should look into their engineering of this product. The first one we installed we had to use a hammer and a piece of wood to slide one piece on to the other. The next piece we put together uninstalled and beat it with a hammer as well. Just overall not a great install.

I purchased this one, the USB version, and the longer one for a kitchen under cabinet installation due to the low profile. There is nothing else available this slim. I wish there was another option, but I spent weeks researching, contemplating returning these, and didn’t prefer any other compromises. I can verify all the complaints others have. The pieces are hard to get together without hammering them in, there is little room for connectors, the connectors look sketchy, the rating of the wire isn’t really sufficient for most kitchen circuits, the end box is big and ugly which defeats the purpose of the low profile, and there may be extra pieces needed for a really streamlined install, but they are only available to commercial contractors at a high minimum purchase quantity, not sold at Home Depot. For this last point, after the hassle of time I spent trying to find a matching blank channel, flat elbow pieces, and end caps with holes, I strongly believe either Home Depot shouldn’t be selling these products without making the parts available or Legrand needs to make these directly available for purchase to consumers. I do not need 1,000 feet of channel when the minimum quantity stated is 5 feet. It’s ridiculous and incompetent that this situation exists. For your reference, here are the color matched part numbers and LeGrand’s support number. They were helpful when I called, but in the end can’t sell you anything. It’s not as nice as a continuous metal channel running all the way down under the cabinets, but after 2 months, the project needed to get finished. The good thing is that it’s so low profile, you don’t really see any of these compromises. It looks nice with the low profile Philips Hue in aftermarket diffusers we put in front of it. My contractor friend who helped me install it says he’ll never install these again and not recommend them to anyone. I hope this helps someone!

Why people like plugmold is beyond me. Stuff is trash.

Very hard too install and I'm an Electrical Contractor. It is nearly impossible to get it snapped back together.

I spent about two hours trying to get one of these installed. I have never been so frustrated in my life. The wires don’t go into or stay in the connectors, and the plugs pop out when you try. Getting the wires into the connectors (as they are stiff and hard to maneuver) is very frustrating. The two part design is extremely hard to get together if it’s close to a wall, and god help you if you close it up without a wire fully in the connector inside. I am returning the other 4 that I did not damage trying to install.

Easy install, perfect kitchen island receptacles

It looked beautiful when it was done but installation was a nightmare. I cannot imagine a product designed to be less user friendly. I installed 4 sections. It got easier but was never good.

Lagrand plugmold is a great option for under cabinet outlets when you want to clean up the backsplash in your kitchen. They can be a little tough to wire if you are unfamiliar with the product and wiring techniques.
