Overall, it took about 2 hrs to assemble. Not hard to assemble and can be done by 1 person, but 2 would be optimal given the size and weight. The illustrations could be enlarged a little to figure out where some of the parts go. Hammer/mallet is definitely needed to get long bolts through holes

easy to assemble
It took me about 4 hours to assemble myself. This is a gift to the grandkids and I knew it would be easier for me to put it together myself than to let them "help" me. Another hand would have been helpful but it can be done yourself. I found the instructions easy to follow and the quality of the parts to be fantastic. The only thing I would suggest is to put some oil or light grease on the threads of the bolts that take the center punched lock nuts. I found them a struggle to install if installed dry. I can not speak to its durability since it has not been used yet but I am impressed with it so far.

Product still holding up.
I brought this portable hoop two years ago. Last year while trying to move it for an approaching hurricane I accidentally bent a tubing. Called customer service who sent a replacement surpriseingly no charge. Great company to deal with.

Bought it for my Grandson, he's thrilled!!! It came right as scheduled, about two hours to put together, sturdy - we've had some pretty high winds this past few weeks, hasn't moved - I have it filled with just water. It changes height with ease. I think it's a great product, for the price :-)

Nice Hoop
I am giving 4 stars only because this really is a nice hoop. I'm very picky about what I put out in my yard. My kids were begging for a basketball hoop, but here is the real deal. This hoop is not easy to put together. The directions are horrible. I'm thankful my husband can put together most anything. It was worth the work. The kids love it and it looks really nice. Very well made. We are happy.

Solid product!
Item arrived as expected. Assembly was fairly simple, took about 2 hours. Product is sturdy and easily adjusted from 8 to 10 feet. I wanted to use sand in the base and due to the size of the opening it is very time consuming. I gave up after 2 bags and finished with water.

Missing parts / Poor base design
I was missing some parts and a quick email took care of that.
The base is poorly engineered. They give you two 1.5" holes (on top, not the back) to pour 362 pounds of sand into the base. Using an old plastic drinking cup and a funnel, I spent several days pouring sand into the base. The instructions say to tip the goal over and use a funnel to fill the base. It's impossible to do so.
For reference, an old portable basketball goal I had as a kid had a 3.5" hole in the rear of the base that utilized a screw-on cap and gasket. One could fill the entire base in about 10 minutes, and there were no air pockets.
With this system, you're guaranteed to get frustrated trying to eliminate air from the base and get as much sand into it as possible. I would advise finding a portable basketball system with a better designed base.

So far, so good
My grandkids love this! They are 5, 8 and 12. My daughter and I put this together by ourselves - a bit challenging but we did it! Because our winters are so cold, we opted to fill it with sand rather than water and we put a couple of sand bags on the base for extra support.

You can do better
Summary: Quality is not what i expected and it was more that at other stores. I hope it lasts but i would buy something different next time.
I read the reviews and thought i was getting a High quality product for the price. Despite the comments to the contrary it is not hard to put together. I put it together in about 45 minutes without any trouble at all. Just follow the directions.
the First problem is the the backboard is all plastic and not the good hard plastic but what feels like pretty thin and somewhat flimsy plastic. I was expecting a more solid backboard with a fairly thick plex backboard and that definitely not what this has.
It is also not exceptionally stable. Filled with water on flat ground it moves fairly significantly every time a ball hits the backboard. Maybe with sand it would be more stable, but the location of the holes will probably make that a difficult proposition.
Finally, the cost from Home depot is quite a bit more that you can find the same item elsewhere. Within a week of getting it and putting it together i saw the same item for almost $100 less at a different store than what i paid.

Works very well, stable, and easy, but awkward, to assemble
Features adjustable height goal that works easily. Stable in use and can be moved. I built a stand for storage so that it does lie on the rim when taken down. There is no provision to divide into sections so assemble where you plan to use. Every part fit, good instructions, requiring about 6 hours to assemble by 1 person with proper tools and a table. Good product.

Good size, solid construction, decent instructions
Home Depot Specific: Ordered on 12/24 received on 1/2 as stated. Not bad coming from UT to IL over two holidays. Arrived without any damage to the box whatsoever.
Product specific: Similar to other reviews I was a bit skeptical of the backboard at first glance as it's all plastic. However, after putting it together and trying it out it seems solid with a decent rebound for a portable system. In ground systems will give a better/more solid rebound than a portable system in general but as I said, this was decent. Many of the other parts (excluding the base) are steel or metal and are very sold.
Assembly time: For the do-it-yourselfer it should take about 3 hours give or take, that's how long it took me and I'm not in construction or a mechanic, but I've always liked to tinker. It is heavy so you should have others available in case you need them for certain steps. If you are not a do it yourselfer it is still fairly straightforward, but you'll want to leave yourself a bit more time to digest the instructions and undo the steps you did incorrectly :)
Instructions/parts list: Better than most I've seen for similar projects. The parts are very well laid out with many shown actual size in the parts list and referenced to which bag they are in. Parts are separated into bags for each major section of the project.
The instructions are mostly pictures with some written instruction. The pictures were pretty true to the actual parts so it was easy to tell the orientation of a part. I only had a couple of instances where the step wasn't very obvious based on the picture and one of those was because I was almost done and was getting impatient.
The height adjustment works very well. I measured the height at the highest and lowest points and it was 10' and 8' exactly.
Filling the base: Either sand or water are recommended. I used sand - 362 lb, sand capacity vs. 31 gallon (~260 lbs) water capacity. Water is certainly easier and the holes seem to be geared to the size of a hose which makes using sand and a funnel a somewhat tedious process. I used sand because I wanted the extra weight to keep it from tipping over. If you have kids jumping up and down waiting for it to be completed, fill it with water but come back later, dump it out and use sand...sand will take an hour or more to fill it up. After messing with a funnel for a while I thought to use a plastic plant watering "can" where you can unscrew the white "sprinkler" head at the top. The downside is you're pouring the sand twice...once into the can and once into the base, but it made the job MUCH easier.
Quality: It seems to be engineered very well and the instructions make it fairly simple to put together correctly so that it's constructed well. I can't speak to the durability as I've only had it a few days at this point but based on initial quality I feel comfortable it will last at least as long as the warranty (5 years).
If you do buy this - which I recommend at this price point - in one of the last steps of the instructions it shows to use the closed end of a combination wrench to pull the end of a spring over a bar/spacer. I found this to be challenging and ended up using a pliers which took about 3 seconds.

Satisfied Customer
Arrived within expectations. Materials appear to be good quality. Packaged nicely. Not as difficult as I thought it would be to put together. I did put some things together that I later had to switch around because the directions did not make it clear which way they went on. I had to file two holes that a bolt didn't fit likely due to paint. The adjustment mechanism works very nicely. There is some wobble of the backboard when imapacted by the ball, but I don't know how this would compare to other portable systems.
