What you have described about the Loctite PL Polyurethane Window, Door and Siding Sealant is not characteristic of this product when applied properly. The sealant is a high viscosity material that does not shrink during the cure process. If cracks are appearing, then the amount of sealant applied may not have been enough in the joints or the beads were too small to accommodate normal expansion/contraction of the two substrates. Thank you for taking time to post your feedback. The Loctite PL Polyurethane Window, Siding and Door sealant is 98% solids by weight so yes, it is a heavier viscosity product. A 3/16" cut on the nozzle is too small of an opening dispense this product properly. The opening for this product needs to be 1/4" minimum to 3/8" maximum. If this does not help then the product may be close to expiration. Shelf life is only 12 months from date of manufacture. As with all items sold through retailers, a defective or expired product should be returned to the place of purchase for exchange or refund. These stores do receive credit from Loctite for returning defective products but more important the store location needs to know. Thank you again for your feedback
