Worthless, no instructions, loose wires
I am shocked at this thing’s reviews. It’s a worthless product. I bought 4, none of them had any instructions. When you go to install it there are loose wires everywhere, and no indication of what to do. To make things worse, if you do mount it, the included connectors to home electrical are completely broken. They are supposed to “lock in” but do absolutely nothing. The majority of this company’s budget clearly went to buying reviews.

    It works…
The light does in fact work, but the whole thing has to be disassembled to mount. The instructions that came with mine were completely wrong. If you are looking for a light strip, keep on looking.

        Not Dimmable.
Spent extra $$ over similar style lights for the dimmable feature. Lights do dim but the LED driver buzzes unless the brightness is at 100%. Totally useless. Will be returning and looking for another option. Component quality does not reflect price. Lens cover warps where retaining clips hold it. Output it not as expected compared to standard florescent bulbs they replaced. 4,000 Kelvin temp is nice.

In my experience, buying LED products online is a bit of a crap shoot. I this case, it wasn’t. The product arrived well-packaged, was easy to install (the quick connectors were awesome in that regard), they look great and with the provided diffuser, there are no visible LED hot spots. The K-value listed seems accurate. These put off significant more and better quality light than my old 8 ft fluorescent bulbs did. Replaced each fixture like-for-like. Goodbye and good riddance to those! Super happy with these.

This is a nice light, i wanted this because i needed a portable light to do jobs where sometimes you need light at different angles so i glued some magnets on the back of this and wired an extension cord to this so it could just be plugged in. It works even better than i thought it would, the housing on this unit is a little flimsy to me for making it portable but it does pretty good. It has holes on the back of this unit too so if you don't have metal to stick it to then you can use a chain with hooks to hang it.

I was surprised by the quality of light this puts off! I installed it in a storage area of the basement, was skeptical about using and other light color than "daylight", but took my chance with this and am really impressed with the quality of light it puts out. Very clean, bright lighting, perfect for this storage area. Installation was simple, would recommend this!

This 4 ft LED strip Light is Just what you need for a light at the top of a work bench or inside a pantry or utility room. It is designed to be hard wired and has knockouts on each end as well as three in the top. There are several keyhole type mounting holes in the top also. It can be linked to another unit and the hardware to link them is included as well as 3 wire nuts. It is about as bright as one 4' florescent tube but only draws half the power.

This is a great LED strip light. It is not a fancy, decorator light although I think would be perfect in closets and such. It is made with a sturdy frame and installation is super simple. The "bulb" is actually part of the cover and it disconnects easily from the mail case. The package includes a clip for tying multiples together bit does not transfer power along the line. You will have to extend wire to each one. The light is bright and uniform through the bulb area. It comes on quickly and I saw no flicker. The small size makes it versatile to fit almost anywhere. This is a great, simple LED surface mount fixture.

Nice light for your workshop. The light snaps apart and easy to get to the wiring to hook up. I added a cord with a plug in order to be able to plug the light into a wall outlet. The light is 2100 LUM's so it is bright enough for lighting a work bench. It is very handy in a garage if you have a plug in switch that you can plug into an outlet & this way you can just hit the switch light your bench area without having to plug it in. The unit is very slim and fits easily under a cabinet. The light starts immediately when powered.

The packaging the light came in was damaged and partially opened, luckily, they have enough bubble wrap in it that protected everything. I’ve been slowly replacing all the fluorescent shop lights in the basement/laundry area with LED lights. This will allow me to replace 2 of the shop lights and will produce more light, 8000 lumens and the “actual color temperature” is 4000 (K), so it produces a nice white light. I prefer the hard wire lights since I have all the lights on a switch. It’s was easy to wire and mount. I would recommend this light.

When we moved almost two years ago, I knew I wanted to change out the old ballast lights. They must have received a good deal when building the house. I replaced the blown ballast in the master closet with a small LED light. I had one working ballast and one blown ballast in the garage. I was able to pick up the 4ft version and an 8 ft version of this strip light. WOW! Just WOW! I have replaced many lights, so this was as easy as that. The directions are super clear if needed. I shut off the breaker, removed the old ballast and installed the new ballast. Did I say, WOW, yet? Even during the day, these things add some serious light. Since they are LED, I am not worried about how much they are pulling to do so. I can now work in the garage with plenty of light. At night with the garage closed, you would think it was daytime. Extremely happy with this product. Good chance I will replace all the other ballast locations more of these LED lights.

I've been replacing all my workshop lights with LEDs. They are brighter, safer, no broken tubes, and draw less energy while lasting years longer (5 year warranty). This latest light helps me fill a gap across my basement workshop and fill it with nice white light. This is the 4th Metalux LED light strip I own and I like them all. Assembly: This comes from the box ready to go. It just needs to be screwed to the ceiling and wired in with a simple three wire install. Cover plates, screws and wire nuts are included. Super easy. Install: This can be installed as a three wire standard install or it can be wired to a dimmer. Instructions for both are included. Either method will only take 15-30 minutes max to install. The housing screws into place and the wires simply twist on with wire nuts and tuck away. Quality: This is an all metal white painted housing with plastic diffusers. Even the LEDs rails are metal. Very nice quality. It won't yellow or crack in cold shops. It only draws 74 watts, incredible! Brightness: This is a VERY bright light. 8,000 lumens is a lot of light and the surface mount LEDs shine in the 4000K light temp. A nice white light, no yellow to it. I love how bright it is, it's simply perfect. This fixture IS dimmable. Overall: Easy to install, easy to wire, super bright white light and one light fixture takes the place of two regular shop lights while giving more light. What's not to love? I highly recommend it.

I got the Metalux 4 foot LED light to use in my utility room over the workbench where I want a lot of light. This light is very bright at 4000 Lumens which is what I needed this dark room The unit comes with quick disconnects to attach the wiring and you have to supply two #8 screws and washers to attach it to the joist or you can attach it to drywall. The base of the light, the LED section and the lens assembly separate for installation and then just snap back in place. In the instructions they attach it to an electrical box but that box is a short distance from where I wanted it mounted, so I connected the electrical together using an electrical cord that had a plug on the end. Now I could mount the light where I wanted it. a few feet away and simply plug the cord into the outlet, as many of the older fluorescent lights came with. This is a great improvement over the fluorescent lights as it is brighter more energy efficient and fewer problems. Once you read the instructions disassemble the unit and decide where and how you want to install it is't easy to install where you want it your way.

no more dust on my head
Well, that’s *one* advantage of finally being able to retire the huge, heavy, and painful (when you whack yourself on one of them) 4’ flourescent light fixtures in my basement. This light is 4th in a series of getting rid of the old dinosaurs one by one. Each replacement fixture has had its own perks, and each has sparked some rethinking of how I handle lighting in that area. Here’s my thought on this fixture and install. The install was pretty easy, up to a point. This is the first LED fixture I’ve wired where the ground wire was integrated into the quick connect, as opposed to being separately connected with a wire nut. Not that big a deal, but one less thing to monkey with. However, with this fixture the quick connect is inside the fixture. The way it’s designed (two parts - see picture) no wiring can interfere with the light. The downside to this internal quick connect design is that making the wiring connections between the two halves of the fixture, before clipping the bottom half back in place, requires 2 hands to make the connections, and a 3rd hand to hold the bottom half in the air. In other words, it’s the first LED fixture I installed that required a second person (even if it was only for those few minutes of the process). I suppose i *could* have rigged some sort of slings to hold the bottom section up without another person, but be aware you’re either going to want a 2nd set of hands for this part, or you’re going to need to be a bit creative about gravity. Other than that, most of the time spent on this installation was split into rewiring a 3-way circuit connection into its own junction box (it had been internal on (in) the previous fixture, which had a *lot* more space internally to accomodate that much wiring), and what I’m referring to as the “good-bad-good” thing that upgrading from 4’ flourescent to LED fixtures. Good - they’re *much* lighter than the old flourescents. Bad - Because they’re so light, I spent a lot of time questioning the placement of the fixture, due to all the possibilities. Good - I ended up with a much better setup in the long run. The significantly lower weight of the fixture, as well as the much smaller profile, allowed me to do a couple of things with this fixture I couldn’t have done with the old one. I mounted it direct to the joist with little L-braces. The fixture only weighs about 4 pounds, so a bolt attaching the brace to the fixture is more than strong enough to support it. And, because of its narrow width, I was able to mount it much higher than the really wide, really heavy flourescent fixture it replaced, without running up against the water and gas lines that it shares space with. So i get at least the same amount of light as before (it seems like more, but rhat could also be due to the higher location of the light), and have a lot more room overhead when I’m working (it’s over a workbench, and I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve banged into the old fixture. Which always liberated a cloud of dust from the top of the metal shade, which then made me stop working for long enough for the dust to settle. That’s not going to happen again…) If you look at a couple of the pics, you can see the before and after, and it’s striking how much vertical I gained in this upgrade. I can actually see *all* of my pegboard without having to duck under a light fixture. The other thing I’ll mention is that I didn’t start out planning to do every single flourescent fixture in my basement in such a short amount of time, but once I saw the difference, then all the remaining old fixtures became that more annoying to me until I upgraded them. So, you’ve been warned: it’s a slippery slope :-)

          Nice stiplight with cover
Replace a fluorescent strip light with this LED fight for uses less wattage and will cut my electric bill. very easy to install just squeeze the lens and rotate and cover comes off then remove the light strip and mount the housing and then just but back the light strip after connecting the power and install lens and end caps.. My power came in end of fixture so had to drill a hole in the end cap for the connector to fit so I could install the end cap on the one side, worked out great. Way more light than before and works with out blinking in colder weather

All Metal Housing, High Quality LED Driver and LEDs
I've been replacing all the lights in my shop and home with LEDs. I like the energy savings and the bright white they emit. And remember, no four foot glass bulbs to drop and shatter either. This 4 foot high output LED strip light fits all my needs for a super bright light in my wash basin, laundry area. Out of the box you'll have all the hardware you need to install this to an existing outlet box, or you can screw this right to your ceiling as well. No matter the method you choose to mount, the wiring is the same. Three wire hookup, using a single pushlock connector for the power wires and ground. The frame and LED rail on this is white painted steel and the diffuser is a large plastic cover. It looks seamless and really fits well anywhere. Even though I used this is a laundry area it would also look great in a home, kitchen, bathroom, etc. It's a compact size, much smaller than a fluorescent light. It's approx two inches wide, three inches tall and of course four feet long. The light has a single LED strip down the center and a high quality LED driver mounted inside the steel frame. I would expect this to last a very long time. The LED rail is also steel and snaps onto the base and the plastic diffuser snaps onto the LED rail. It's all well thought out. The output is 2000 lumens drawing 22.65 watts of power. That's a nice energy savings over a standard 4 foot shop light. The light this casts is a bright white light. Not yellow or blue tinted. Just white, and that makes it a great light to work by. It certainly brightens an area. I can't recommend this LED strip light light enough. Easy install, 5 year warranty, high quality steel assembly and very bright white light make this a top choice.

Super bright, fast and easy to install,
I have in my garage two pair of lights and each have 2 tube light bulbs. And when I installed this led light it actually was brighter than the other ones so I am happy. It was also easy to install some it has clear instructions , the wires also have an easy way to hook up, I like that is dimmable so maybe I'll get a dimmer Overall I'm very satisfied with this product, it comes with a 5 year warranty too. It also does not take much space so I installed it on a beam. Best of all it uses less light than all the other lights I have and it's very light weight.

Finally a compact, efficient form with excellent output
I got a pair of these lights to review and chose the 2000 lumen (this one) version and the 4000 lumen version. I now have five LED shop lights; 2 panels and 3 strips. I honestly haven’t thought too much about color temperature when selecting these lights. I simply welcome any new light into my workshop and it’s amazing to finally be able to see in every corner of the shop. These Metalux lights are quite nice. They’re almost twice the price of my previous strip, even though it outputs 3800 lumens. So far the only real advantage these units have over the less expensive strip that I can tell so far is the form factor. Rather than gutting a fluorescent fixture and inserting LEDs as the previous mfr did, these are a whole new form factor, consisting of a single “tube” width assembly. The diffuser on these lights is less soft than the larger, wrap around diffusers produce, but unless I’m looking directly at the light there’s not a big difference at the work. While I really like the sleeker form factor, you’ll have to decide if you want to spend the extra money to get it. What’s interesting about the 4000 lumen model is that everything is almost identical except for the spacing of the LEDs, which are closer together in the 4000, allowing them to fit more of them. Installation couldn’t be easier. After removing the bulb in the single bulb fixture I just extended the wires down into the new fixture, shortened the bare ends a bit and pushed them into the connector. Two screws into the ceiling and I was done. The build quality is perfectly fine and I attached some photos of the connectors and electrical components/labels for the geeks out there. Notice the LED spacing and density between the two units in the last photo.
