Milwaukee has reinvented the 1/2-inch Drive Metric Ratchet and Socket Set. The first thing I noticed is that the sockets are designed with a square end. This feature keeps the sockets from rolling away when set down on a smooth hard surface. The square end also provides a place to place an open end wrench on the socket for those funny access situations. Another cool feature is the removable tray inside the case. The tray holds all of the sockets, ratchet and extensions and allows all of these items to be relocated to your upright tool box for permanent storage. The 90-tooth ratchet with a 4° of arc swing is best of class and will be valuable when working in tight space with limited room to swing the ratchet handle. The size of each socket is nicely stamped on the flat portion of each socket. I really like when the case is closed and being carried, that all the sockets, extensions and the ratchet stay in place. The extensions are knurled at the center point to help greasy fingers to be able to turn the extensions by hand. I’ve had the ratchet set for about a month now and in my opinion, you won’t a higher quality or more functional set of half inch drive metric sockets.

The Milwaukee 1/2 in. Drive SAE/Metric Ratchet and Socket Mechanics 47-Piece Tool Set is a quality made product. I really like that each socket is made with four flat sides to prevent rolling and can also be used with the ratchet or a wrench. I have had this tool set for a week and have already used it to remove my riding mower blades to have sharpen. I also was able to use the ratchet and sockets to tighten the engine bolts. This tool set is also going to come in handy to work on my truck when repairs are needed. I'm really pleased with this product; it definitely met my expectations.

I highly recommend this set of tools for the professional and enthusiast in the home garage. I got the metric set for tooling on the metric Kawasaki bike. The 1/2 inch ratchet allows for a better grip and downward torque than most 3/8" ratchets. Milwaukee is a superior tool set to my old craftsman set. The sockets are both deep and shallow with the deep being tapered on all for sides rather than round. The set comes with a very nice blow molded case with a removable tray. Lifetime guarantee.

This kit is in a composite plastic case which is very durable. The tools are set In a removable tray that can be lifted out and set in a tool drawer or the work area. The set consists of: a 1/2" ratchet with 10" handle, 2 extensions which are 2"& 4", 11 sockets 1/2" to 11/8", 8 deep well 1/2- 15/16" with 6 points. The quality build of the tools are of the highest standard. The ratchet is heavy duty and has a 90 tooth gear. The sockets are thick walled and have the added feature that they are 4 sided. This allows you to use an open ended wrench for more stability. The 4 sided design also is a great feature because it prevents the socket from rolling on ths floor! Much like the 1/4” & 3/8” sets, this 1/2” ratchet and socket set is great. The ratchet wrench itself is large and heavy, but not bulky. The ratchet is smooth in both directions and doesn’t have any slop in it. The size labels on the sockets are etched and large enough for me to see without my readers (I need +1.25, in case that helps anyone). The square end lets me know, without looking, which end of the socket I have. That’s a bonus in low light or tight spaces. It also allows for putting a wrench on the socket if you need help holding it still. Another advantage of the square end shape is that when your hands are slippery the transition from square to circular creates a shoulder on the socket. That gives a bit of extra leverage for pulling the socket off of the wrench. The case is excellent too. The tray holds everything securely without it being difficult to grab what you need. The tray comes out of the carrying case, so you can throw it in a drawer. And when you are using the carrying case, they used metal on the latches. That was a good call with the heft of the set.

Very good augment to a home tool set. The 1/2 inch size enables work with larger bolts/nuts on projects requiring increased strength. Also, the minimal swing arc on the racket handle and the four sided sockets to accommodate a wrench offer flexibility to loosen or tighten. For increased leverage or working with torque wrenches, other tools work well with the sockets available. For organization, the hard plastic case offers a very good option for keeping the sockets lined up for ease access - knowing all the sizes at a glance.

Very substantial and well made. The ratchet has small angular gradations so the movement is smooth and precise. All parts are very sturdy with substantial walls so I feel that the product will last the full lifetime warranty without causing any problems. The case is what I have come to expect from Milwaukee: sturdy with excellent over-center latches. These latches and the well-fitting inner tray keep the parts properly nested when the case is inverted or on its side. The inner tray lifts out so that it can be placed in either a roll around tool chest drawer or where the set will be used without the extra bulk of the case when in close quarters. The 1/2 inch drive fits snugly in the sockets without play so the action is positive, both when tightening and loosening.

As my cars are getting older I find myself working on them more and more in order to try and save the cost of hiring a mechanic. Having the right tool set to do this makes all the difference in the world. This Milwaukee metric 1/2 in. drive tool set fits the bill perfectly. This set comes with (15) regular sockets, (10) deep well sockets, (2) extensions and the ratchet. When I first took this set out of the shipping box I couldn't believe how heavy it was. The sheer weight of this set makes you feel like you are getting a premium tool set to work with. The case is nice and thick with a removable tray you can just lift out and put in the drawer of your roll around tool chest. The latches on the front of the tool case have a very distinctive sound when they are latched. With this tool case you will never have to worry about it falling open while carrying it and dropping all the contents on the ground. This tool case is the best I have ever seen. One other thing I liked is that they labeled one side of the case with "metric" so should you have both the "SAE" set or the "Metric" set side by side on a shelf you could tell one tool set from another. All the sockets are laser engraved with very large numbers to make them super easy to read. Each socket also has four flat sides on them. This does two things. (1) it makes them to where they won't roll off the work bench or roll under the car should you lay one down next to you, (2) it allows you to use a very large wrench on the square surface of the socket should you need to in a tight space or at an awkward angle. All the pieces in the tool set come with a bright chrome finish which gives them a very distinctive look and makes them much easier to wipe the grease and grime off of them with a rag. There is an included small card in the case stating their lifetime guarantee along with the instructions for how to utilize the warranty should you need to. For some reason when I saw this it made me feel good to know that they were making it so easy to get help should you need it and not trying to hide it. All in all this is the perfect metric tool set for me. This is one of those tool sets that you would be able to hand down to the next generation it is so well made. My son is getting to the age where he is starting to work on things and I can see this set becoming his one day (hopefully not to soon ;o). The Milwaukee engineers did a great job of making this whole tool set. From the case to the latches to the removable tray it is like they thought of every single thing they could to make this set perfect and they nailed it.

This ½ in. drive set includes 6 point shallow sockets from 10 mm - 24 mm and 6 point deep sockets from 10 mm – 19 mm. A nice feature of these sockets is the four flat sides that accommodate a wrench for added leverage to break a fastener loose if necessary. This is the first 1/2" socket set I have owned, makes any 3/8" set feel like a toy. The build quality is evident the moment you handle any of the pieces in this set. The 90 tooth ratchet is incredible – with only 4 degrees of arc swing making bolt removal in tight spaces a breeze. The wrench itself weights 1.7 pounds. It is 10.5 inches in length measured from the socket center line to the end of the handle.and 11-1/4” in length overall. The thickness of the ratchet head is a hair over 11/16”. The handle grip portion is smooth and tapers from a 5/8” diameter shaft at the head to almost 1” wide with a slimmed down thickness of a little less than 3/4" these transitions provide a very comfortable non-handed leveraged grip (see photo). The direction change lever is 0.10” thick – easy to flip beyond an initial resistance with positive spring engagement. The transport case has a continuous rear hinge with 2 positive latches - it does an excellent job of keeping all parts in place. The case has a removable inner tray. The 28 piece Milwaukee ½” Metric Socket Set is a high quality tool set. It comes in a heavy duty plastic case with a removable storage tray that can be used in a tool chest to keep the sockets in order. The set includes a 9” ratchet, a 3” and 5” extension, 15 standard sockets (10mm – 24mm) and 10 deep well sockets (10mm – 19mm). All have a polished chrome finish and the sockets are all six point having been designed to reduce or eliminate bolt rounding. They also have the sizes laser etched on them making them easier to identify. One main difference between these sockets and others that I have used is the square design on the outside of the sockets. It should help prevent them from rolling off the bench as well as providing the ability to use a wrench on the outside of the socket if needed. The set comes in a quality made box that has two very well-made latches on the front. The best latches I’ve had. They operate smoothly and firmly. The top opens to display the tools and each place is clearly marked with its size. Each socket is clearly engraved on two sides with its size. The flat sides keep them from rolling away, so you’re not chasing them. This is great anywhere, but especially if you’re on the road somewhere. The flat sides also make then ready to use a wrench on, for a little more control and help. Each piece has a great feel and look to it. These are very well made. I especially love the look, fit and feel of Milwaukee’s ratchets. They fit comfortably in your hand. The ratchet is smooth, only a 4 degree swing and 90 tooth design. These are so smooth and feel so much better than some others I have. The tray is easily removed and replaced, plenty of room on both sides, without having to pinch your fingers and can be placed in a drawer for easy access. Having both standard and metric in one set is so much better than two sets. The sizes go from 10-24 mm and ½”-1-1/8” without skipping and sizes, deep and shallow. I’ve been using the 3/8” drive set since they came out and it has become my top drawer tool set. This one is equally impressive and will do everything I need. I had to order this by mail when it was on a one day sale. Opened it up on arrival and I was amazed with what I saw. The labeling on each piece seems well done and should last for many years. I will not abuse this but I will expect a long lasting set that will see a lifetime of use. Very nice and I examined each piece and the results were amazing ...........

Another Milwaukee product that satisfies. You can feel the quality when holding the tool in your hands and the socket organizer is a nice one to have that fits in your tool cart. The cost is higher than other store brands, but definitely lower than Snap On. I own the 181pc Mechanics set from DeWalt, which is a nice set but after handling the tools you are left with greasy fingers...That is not the case with this set from Milwaukee. The only knock I see with this set is that when you are using the extensions on the ratchet there is wobble, supposedly Snap On doesn't have wobble, but I don't really care because I am saving money and Milwaukee is giving me lifetime warranty. I have had this Milwaukee set for about a month now, no complaints at all. It is what I expected when purchasing, I like it and would recommend.

Milwaukee has come a long way in the tool business. This set with the square sockets is unbelievable. It is so easy to use and it doesn't slip from the greasy fingers. Each socket is marked for easy identification even when covered in grease and oil. The ratchet has a 3 degree throw arch which makes it very easy to use in a cramped space. The pop out tray is nice if you dont want to take the storage box with you when you are working out od a tool box with drawers. It stores in the drawers nicely. This is a rugged set and should last me a long time. Its not a terribly big set but its perfect for the DIY'er. Good investment for my tool kits.

this 3/8 socket set is fantastic, the set some some great features i havnt seen in other sets i have owned. 1st the case/trey, the case is made of a strong plastec with a nice removable trey that fits in a standard tool drawer and easily picked up and put back in the case to take to a job not near the case.2nd the sockets are wrench ready wich makes tight spaces easier to access. the finish is flawless and easy to wipe down when the job is done. i highly recomend this set, Milwaukee is stepping up their game in the hand tool!

Nice set. Would like to have 7/8 and 1" deep as well. Also maybe a flex ratchet. But overall seems well made and will hopefully hold up. Only had for a week and used a few times on small projects. Like the carrying case and tray.

I was to excited to get my 3/8 in. Drive SAE Ratchet and Socket Set (28-Piece). I have a few Milwaukee tools & they are 2nd to none. The ratchet is a fine tooth one & works awesome. The sockets are marked pretty good but I wish they were painted too like there wrenches. The case for the socket set is very nice & it will be easy to keep track of them. I will be using these for many years to come.

First off, this is an incredibly well made professional ratchet and socket set with a wonderfully designed layout, case, and removable tray. It doesn’t get more convenient. The ratchet and sockets are heavy and solid like a premium steel product should be. - SAE shallow covers 1/4" up to 1" with no skips; SAE deep covers same up to 7/8" (only missing 15/16" and 1" deep) - Metric shallow and deep cover 6mm to 19mm with no skips - The chrome is impeccable. - The numbers are easy to read. - the ratchet has a nicely contoured handle, is low profile, and has a serviceable (via two torx screws on faceplate) sealed head. - the ratchet is 90 tooth and smooth and solid - the 3" and 6" extensions have knurling for finger turning - it comes with a universal joint adapter - the deep sockets are 2.5” long and the shallows are under 1-1/4” long - it has Milwaukee’s unique to the industry (as far as I know & I’m familiar with many brands) rectangular contour at base of socket for putting a wrench on it CONCLUSIONS It’s an awesome set and any Milwaukee fan shouldn’t hesitate to grab one. The overall quality and excellence of Milwaukee and HD customer service will make it more than worth the upfront cost. If you’re not a Milwaukee fan, you will also be satisfied with the performance, but comparison shopping is warranted, as there are other compelling options in the price range, SK being a prime example.

Milwaukee 3/8 inch Drive SAE/Metric Ratchet and Socket Set (56-Piece) is a large high end ratchet set. It is heavy chrome plated over forged steel. It has a large selection of sockets, a driver that comes with two length extensions, 3-inch and 6-inch, a universal swivel joint, all in a plastic carrying case and tray. The case has a sturdy piano hinge which should hold up to use. The 3/8-inch drive has a slim head where the sockets snap on and off, no locking button here. The set contains both type of socket lengths, deep and regular sizes. The set ranges from 1/4-inch to one inch and from 6-milometers to 19-milometers. The sockets all are clearly stamped for size markings. Milwaukee does things to make the tools their own and here, that's new to me anyway, is that for each socket they have a boxy square area around the bottom that attaches to the driver. This end can accommodate an open or box wrench to turn the socket independently from the drive. It can be used, if needed, to loosen a bolt or when the ratchet can't reach down into tight spots. The other advantage is the flattened sides keep sockets from rolling around. Between the two types, I find the deep sockets more useful and often overlooked. They can be used like regular sockets, but the extra length is useful for reaching down or to pass over a bolt. I sometimes just grab s deep socket first to save time to finger tight bolts. I'm glad they added this type to what seems a complete set of socket wrenches sizes up to one inch and 19-milometers. I have several sets of socket wrenches and these are the best ones of those I own. If you are thinking of getting a set, this one will last a life time and they all come with a lifetime guarantee that you'd expect for the price. Mechanics consider good tools an investment and this socket set fits in that category.

This little 1/4' drive kit is a fantastic addition to any toolbox. It has shallow and deep sockets. The build quality is excellent, and the finish is beautiful. I'm not so much into having the prettiest tools. I know what tools go through. That being said, I think these are an amazing gift idea for anyone who loves tools, and USES tools. I love the completeness of this set for 1/4 drive. It's well organized. The carry case is good for on the go, but the most impressive feature of the case, is that you do NOT need it! The inside bottom of the case is a flat, compact, organizing tray for this set. You simply lift it out, and place in your drawer; of a larger toolbox. No wasted space! The outer box, you can store, toss, or repurpose. I love complete tool sets. This set stays all together on the inside removable tray. Tray and tools are much shallower than the case/box. Brilliant. Built in organizer! worth it for sure. It is set is metric only, so more for automotive, than handyman.

I bought these Milwaukee sockets for the ease of reading the sizes. I also like the organizers/cases they come in and they fit nicely in my toolbox.
