I have two different hammer drills. The one this works with is the one that has a normal drill type chuck. I did a sample drilling in a piece of concrete and it worked good. The tip allowed it to start real well and it was able to drill two inches into the block in less than a minute. You might be able to use this with a standard drill in cement blocks that don't have the larger rocks that needs the hammer to break through.

I needed this to drill 1” holes in a concrete slab to anchor a set of stairs to the slab... long story! What I did not consider is the maximum recommended capacities for masonry bits as noted in the specs of my hammer drills. Turns out, while this bit was properly suited for the task, my hammer drills were not. Using a 1” bit was above the recommended max (5/8”) of my drills. And while I could use the step up method to get to 1”, the process would have taken too long. A more suitable and efficient tool for my job would have been my Milwaukee SDS-Max rotary hammer, but unfortunately the shank of this bit is not SDS-Max compatible. In order to use this bit as intended I’m going to need a more powerful hammer drill since I don’t want to risk burning out a drill. I’ve used Milwaukee bits in the past and they’ve never let me down, so I’m confident this is a quality bit.

The Milwaukee 3/4" X 10" X 12" Carbide Hammer Drill Bit is a quality product, just as one would expect from Milwaukee. It is designed for use on concrete, cinder block and red brick, all at high speed. It claims to drill up to 2X faster and last up to 5X longer in concrete. I often have need to drill into structural concrete and have destroyed name-brand bits in just a couple of uses. My 3" test hole using this Milwaukee bit cut quick and cleanly while showing minimal wear on the tip. If it holds up I suspect I just might achieve the 5X longer claim. End-to-end is 11 7/8" long, functional length is 9" tip to last of the spiral. The shank has 3 flat edges for the drill to grip better. Made in China.

I admit I was a bit skeptical that this percussion type drill bit would work twice as fast as other hammer drill bits I have used but after trying it I am now convinced that twice as fast might be an understatement but then again I'm comparing it to used drill bits that admittedly might be worn some. For bits smaller than 1/2" I usually reach for my cordless drill but for larger ones I much prefer my big powerful corded Milwaukee for the torque and speed you simply can't get with cordless, at least not for very long. In any event I mostly use a 3/4" bit for running 1/2" PVC conduit through cement block or masonry for things like outdoor lighting. These aren't cheap but that doesn't seem very important when time and effort are truly minimized.

Wow, this is one excellent carbide hammer drill bit from Milwaukee. Cuts through concrete, cinder block and brick like butter. It has a centering tip which helps keep the bit in place when you are starting your cut. The bit is 3/4 inches in diameter, the cutting portion of the bit is 10 inches long and has a 2 inch shank. The shank also has three flat sections which keep the bit tight in your chuck. It worked exceptionally well using my cordless hammer drill. I can only imagine what speed it will cut using a corded hammer drill.

I installed the pergola on a concrete patio. I needed to drill a few holes so that I can secure the posts to the concrete. Theses drill bits worked wonderfully. Drilled through camera without any issues.
