Really. I'm amazed at how well this works. Be careful and don't burn your house down! Still, I wouldn't be cavalier and not make sure that the flammables behind it aren't being damaged of burning. I used this on some plumbing in my 1916 cottage. The wood is so dry it is scary, but with this it was actually possible to heat and solder - carefully, of course.

Does a great job while working outside of a house. My vinyl siding was totally safe when I soldered an outside irrigation main fixture

Not as reliable as the previous heat shield I bougth 5 years ago, to my surprise the new shield caught fire the first time I use it and scare the lights out me, as I try to put flames the elbow I was welding became undone and had to weld it a second time, not good.

Used up against the backside of a fiberglass shower panel, worked exactly as intended.

This is fantastic tool when you need to solder a pipe next to wood. Used for years and bought another for more coverage. The material is thick and retains its shape. Can tuck into a corner or around another object to protect from excessive heat. Few times I've had to put a drywall screw through it to keep it pinned in the corner but didn't seem to damage the effect of the heat shield.

Worked well, prevented insulation from catching on fire.

Used while soldering copper pipes that were in close proximity to wood and finished materials. Does a great job preventing damage to surrounding areas while using a torch.

Was using while sweating cooper pipe for a shower valve replacement, and it Caught Fire!!!

Used these for years.
