Long lasting stain, 5 years and still protecting wood!

Easy to use, easy to apply. Looks great!!!

I was really excited to find a brown transparent stain. However, the stain ended up very red, not brown at all!! I mixed the containers before use. There were solids left in the bottom, I mixed those with a small amount of leftover liquid. No change in color. The deck had to be completed so I stuck with the stain. This is so disappointing! I had seen a review from a customer that had the same issue. I wish I had listened, but I was so happy to find a brown I assumed it was a one off.

I began using Olympic Maximum Stain & Sealant a couple of years ago for my gazebo and then used for other projects… I’m thus far very impressed by the coverage , color consistency and durability… I bought the Cedar Natural Tone to provide contrast with the Canyon Brown I was using and am pleased with the results… My 4 vs 5 Star is the Cedar NaturalTone came out with a redder hue than the color brochure or website showed… Not a deal breaker but certainly not exactly the look I wanted… I strongly endorse your trying it…

That stain came out very splotchy even though I mixed it quite well. It actually came out as orange not as redwood as the can said. I have to wonder if there is something wrong with the batch it’s really that bad.

I have been using Olympic Maximum Stain and Sealant for many years and have been very happy with the results until now. Applying this stain resulted in a watery yellow layer that sat on top of the wood deck surface. It dries into a powdery surface layer that can be removed with a scrub brush. I discovered too late that although the can looks the same as the “old” can, the new product is water based (versus oil based). Calling this color “honey gold” is a joke it’s yellow and nothing like the original (see photo - original product on the left, new product on the right).

So far I love this product but I haven’t had it applied long enough to know how it wears overtime to give it an excellent rating so I went with good. Shipping was fast and application was easy. I used this with a paint sprayer, a roller and a brush on different surfaces and I love it so far. Water is beading up as it should. So far I would buy again.

We started with a 11yr old deck that we sanded down to bare wood. We stained it with the Olympic Maximum in color Teak making sure to follow the instructions to the letter. Applied two coats last September when temps were in the 60’s. After just one single winter we have peeling stain everywhere. It’s only been 6 months!! Plus there is this residue that we have tried to wash off with soap to no avail.. Look at the picture and see for yourself. Buyer Beware!

Love this deck sealer. Have been using this product for quite a few years and have not been disappointed in its look and how it stands up to WI weather. Very easy to apply and clean up. Love the slightest gold coloring that adds to the weathered look of my old 30 year old deck. Have been applying this product every year but now think I will let it go for an extra year or two.

The clear sealer enhanced out dock. You can see how the darker section look brighter. This product was great. I highly suggest using the pad suggested to put it on. Do not spray or roll. The can covers exactly what it says. We forgot to add our steps and under the steps as part of the square footage. However the two cans did the entire dock.

I applied this stain to a deck that has never been stained in June, it is now the following March and after only one winter there are losses of the stain everywhere on my deck, I applied multiple coats exactly as instructed. I will be trying to get my money back for sure.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The best stain! We used this for our outdoor deck in Dallas, Texas and it worked great. Easy to use, low smell and so far the stain still looks new after all the sun we receive in Texas, we had over 100 days of over 100 degree temps.

Despite some of the bad reviews I thought this product was excellent. Obviously time will tell. I only got one year out of the last product I used. This product went on easy and had excellent coverage. I have a large deck and used almost 10 gallons! with the last product, I probably only used 2/3 of the 5 gallon Olympic. Penetration was good and durability seems good so far. Easy cleanup as well. I would not recommend the cedar color however as it was orange, ended up going back and getting the royal mahogany and I was much happier with the color.

I put this on a 28-year-old deck, all original so it's not in the best of condition. I had to use a roller because of some of the boards that have splinters. This is a 16x30 deck and it took about a gallon and 3/4's to cover it thoroughly. I did it in two parts over 3 days and I couldn't be happier with the results. I'm sure it won't last more than 2 years because of its condition but I'm hoping for three.

I chose this color specifically for the brown - it turned my brand new fence varying shades of orange!! Looks terrible and totally ruined my fence. Thousands of dollars down the drain and I have to look at this every day. Furious and so disappointed.

I used this exact stain 4 years ago on my deck and fence and it is now showing signs of wear on the deck. The product stated it would last 4 years on a deck and that is true. I just re-applied this summer. The fence is still looking good. Easy to clean up.

It's a good product but for some reason some parts of the deck are lighter then others, I didn't want to do a second coats as the directions say not to so maybe next year I will do it all over. Also don't like how you have to have it made/mixed/tinted at the store instead of getting it and just going.

Good coverage and the water repels excellent.

Being an oil based stain this stuff is very durable. Forget warer based stains which dont last long. All of my neighbors like the honey gold color and it shows off the natural wood grain

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had been so upset with the look of my deck the past few years. When I came across Olympic Max Stain and Sealant, I knew the time had come. I set out to tackle the deck myself and figured if I messed up, I'd call someone in to fix my mess. I cleaned the deck first and then applied the Stain. It went on smoothly and easily. It did take two coats to get it to where I liked it but the end results is beautiful. It really looks like a brand new deck. It has water protection so water beads up on the deck but this is great as my wood is protected against rot. Honestly, it is fun to use the blower to blow the water drops off the deck. I really enjoy products that are easy for anyone to use. The redwood color came looks beautiful and not like in the past when I've used a similar product from a different brand that turned my deck red! I highly recommend this product, I am extremely happy with the results and plan to spend lots of time recuperating on my lovely stained deck! Thank you Olympus, you have a winner here!

I purchased the CLEAR premium water proofing sealer for my brand new redwood deck, this sealer is yellowish/orange not clear, it turned my deck a sick color of yellow, do you know how mad I am right now????

I paid $40 for this supposedly clear sealer for my chicken coop and it turned it yellow!! Do you recommend to use this in anything white!! I’m so mad it ruined my coop!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We were looking for a stain to fix up the porch on the house we just bought, and came across this color. The porch had not had any attention in five years. If you see the Before and After pics, you can really tell the difference the Olympic Honey Gold stain and sealant made. It makes the wood glow. One gallon was enough to do the 13x13 ft porch floor, and the six steps down to the patio. It goes on easily and spreads smoothly. It takes a couple days to really set in, and the smell lingers, but it's gorgeous when it's done.

It provided good, even coverage and took about 2 coats to get the right color. Its a nice, lighter toned cedar color. I feel confident that this will provide protection from the elements and rain for years to come! Great product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My deck needed a good restaining. It was looking withered and old. I received a gallon of Olympic Maximum stain + sealant in one toner at the perfect time! I chose redwood. Olympic stain was so easy to apply. I used a small roller and applied a decent amount to my first stair and rolled. It went on evenly and absorbed right in. Olympic stain dries fairly quickly, we were able to walk on it in less than 24 hours. Total transformation on my deck stairs. They look brand new! Once this rainy patch in my area has ended, I will finish the whole deck!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've used various stain/sealants on my cedar fence for 20 years now. I've found you get what you pay for. In trying out this Olympic Maximum on a replacement board, I was super pleased with the deep cedar color that still shows the grain and knots. It has the consistency of alcohol and the wood quickly absorbs it. I recommend staining the edges and top of the fence boards as well as the faces. Based on my past experiences with Olympic stains, I can say if it says it offers 4 years of protection, you'll get 4 good years out of the stain. When restaining and resealing fence after that amount of time, make sure you wash the wood first, preferably with a powerwasher. This can came with a plastic shipping ring that sealed the top from opening. I must have lost the instructions on how to remove it but I was able to cut it off easily with a razor scraper blade. I haven't done my fence yet so I can't speak to coverage but in the photos you can see I barely used any to complete one 6' x 6" cedar plank. Highly recommended!
