It never woke up Zone 9b
Purchased January 2021, put in ground right away. It never woke up. No leaves, no signs of growth, life, or anything. Zone 9b, Santa Barbara County CA. Trees are from Washington state. Probably better not to sell them in SoCal.

I planted this product according to directions given and it has never blossomed or grown. Very disappointing. I am including a picture of the plant as of today, September 19, 2020. It has been watered and given fruit tree food on a regular schedule without success.

Bare root came in shipping as expected, planted as per instructions. Did not have even a leafy after 3 months, ask for refund and home depot asked me to return the trees. I need to buy boxes to return so that I can get refund. Overall Home Depot is good and product is bad.

Takes almost 3 weeks to sprout
Bought it 1 month ago. I soaked the roots in water overnight and planted it in a pot next day. For 3 weeks it stood like a dried stick and I was going to loose my hope.Suddenly one day I saw 2 small sprouts. Now my tree is growing into it’s adulthood.Next week I’m going to plant it on earth.

Hope this review helps others thinking theirs is dead after a few weeks from being planted. I purchased this tree in addition to also an apple tree. I received both tree's within there own dedicated boxes on April 29th 2020. They were planted the following weekend on May 3rd 2020. It wasn't until the weekend of June 13th 2020 (6 weeks total) that I finally seen life. Note that the apple tree showed life after about 2 week of planting, so this indeed gave me no confidence the pear tree would actually turn around. From the begging I was concerned this tree wouldn't make it. Comparing the roots on this tree to the apple tree, this pear tree was a joke. At best there where two 3" roots, maybe 2-3 others that where a 1/2" in length. I figured I would just take photos in case I need to claim a return to get my money back. I've provided two photos of the tree while planting. I followed the provided instructions (note that only one copy of instruction were provided between the 2 trees received) exactly per prepping the soil type, soaking the roots prior to planting, tree base level to ground, roots laid over a tepee mound of soil and covered the roots with the provided hay. I did prep the holes larger then recommended (30" dia. x 24" depth). Used a bamboo stick to support the tree until it can support it self. I water when needed (usually ever other day, dependent if rain was in the forecast) and also used a soil water gauge to make sure to not over water. After the first few weeks and monitoring other reviews, I decided to use root simulator per the instruction on the container. Also to note, both trees where labeled as to the tree type. I won't lie, based on all the negative reviews I was for sure this tree was dead. I only wrote this review because I wanted to give hope to others that have also planted this tree. I've given a rating of Good until I truly see that these trees survive an entire year - so far there's promise. Planted in Georgia, hour north of Atlanta. 8+ hours of direct sunlight

Trees arrived in a timely manner for planting. They were well-packed and well-wrapped with damp straw around the root ball and burlap around all of that. They were easy to unwrap and easy to plant. The roots were not too long or too short and were in good shape, which made planting easy. We look forward to watching them grow and enjoying their fruit in the near future.

Hopeful. I’ve never owned a pear tree before. After doing research I’ve learned if you’re going to plan a pear tree you should do so in pairs (get it). The tree is nicely pruned. And stands about 3 feet tall with a root ball about the size of a small melon. Planting it requires patience and following exact directions. Can’t plant and forget. So I’m hopeful that I get fruit in a couple of years.

The bare root Online Orchards Dwarf D'Anjou Pear Tree arrived carefully packed in a light weight easy to handle box with the roots packed in straw and burlap to maintain moisture. The tree is about 4 feet tall, carefully trimmed, both roots and stems, all around for good growth and even branches in the growing season. The tree is substantial, not a tiny twig as some bare root plants I've seen. You will not be starting out with a foot-high thin plant. Since the ground is still frozen here in the Boston area, I downloaded the planting instructions from the website, soaked the roots for a couple of hours and planted in a large pot. I will replant it when the frost is gone being careful to keep the root ball intact. Of course, I cannot comment on the fruit at this time but the tree looks very healthy.

Not much to say about the quality of fruit or the taste of the fruit since it is not ready to produce yet. However, the packaging and arrival were suburb… Root bulbs were intact, very pleased nothing like ordering trees through the mail and having broken roots. The branches were also intact and ready for planting right out of the mail! The branches were close and bunch together a bit but I am sure they branched will fill out as the tree grows. The Fruit tree really does look very healthy so I am excited for when the tree starts to produce fruit. The fruit tree comes with nothing but the tree, some hay, and a “potato” burlap material wrapped around the roots. The package came dry but the roots were damp. Becuese the D'Anjou fruit tree is a dwarf I expect that it will grow nicely in a large pot. So that is were I planted the tree. I look forward in eating the Pears once they sprout. Only issue that would be nice would have been some planting and care instructions. I found nothing included with the tree.

We just received one of our trees from the online orchards. The variety is called D'anjou pear, a dwarf tree that is suitable for the small backyard garden. I plan to grow this tree in a container in my backyard. The tree shipped to us in bare root. It's about 4 feet tall branch. The root is well-wrapped in hay and cloth to protect the root system. At this stage the tree in a dormant period. Within a few weeks, new leaves will form. I just can't wait to how it develops. For planting, we temporarily transplanted into a 5-gallon pot. We used light and well- drained soil.

I have never planted a fruit tree before so it is hard to say how it will do. I can say that it comes well wrapped in straw surrounded by burlap, has a good root system, and tied to keep everything together. The planting instructions were simple enough so I have high hopes that this pear tree will bear fruit if not this year, maybe by the next. This tree was straight and green and the root system was well established.

The Dwarf D'Anjou Pear Bare RootTree from Online Orchards arrived in really great condition. And was packaged very well. The bare roots were well protected. And they were wrapped in some kind of grass that was still moist. And all wrapped together with burlap. The branches were very limber, telling me that the tree was very fresh. I soaked the roots over night and selected a sunny location for planting. I then followed some advice and dug the hole in a square pattern. Time will tell. But I think with the quality of the tree that I'm off to a good start. We will see come Spring.

This tree arrived in better condition than I thought it would, especially since it was shipped through the post office. Planting instructions were easy enough; I followed them exactly, but I'm still worried that this isn't a good time to plant a tree. I'm guessing the people who sell these know more about that than I do, though. I'm not sure how long it's supposed to take for it to start producing fruit, but I'm looking forward to enjoying some fresh pears.

I ordered two of these small fruit trees, the dwarf D’Anjou pear, and the Red Gold nectarine. The company shipped them both together in one box, which was fine. They are basically a 3-foot pruned tree trunk, with a straw and burlap covered root ball. The ones they sent me are definitely a little more sparse looking then most of the online pictures I'm seeing, so I'll be watching how that develops after planting. Website says they are 2 years old. Going to be a while before I can plant them, there’s still snow on the ground, so I looked for dormant storage instructions online. Says to store in an area that is around 35 degrees to 45 degrees, for up to a month before planting, soaking the root ball every 3 to 4 days, so I have initiated that process with mine, storing them in my garage. Planting instructions seem pretty straightforward, if you've ever planted anything, although it does specify to water your young trees frequently after planting, every day or two at the least. So for now, I'm just soaking, & waiting for spring.

Fruit tree was healthy however the box was squished down to mid tree thereby broke the top branches and had to be trimmed down .

Well I'm not very happy with the condition the tree was in when I opened the box that it came shipped in. FedX was the shipper and like usual they don't take care of pkgs and almost always either damage the item or break it completely... this one was thrown around and approximately 8''- 9'' of the tree top was broken off completely

The tree is growing. Although it took over a week of shipping, it was packed well enough to survive and weather was cool enough so it didn't completely dry along the way.

This is the first time I ever planted a bare root tree. I ordered an apple tree at the same time. I planted them as directed and in a very short time buds were growing all over both trees. Happy days!

It has only been about a month since I received and planted this bare root tree. However Home Depot has TWICE given me a request to review this item. So here it is. No signs of life at this time.
