Purchased this as auxiliary heat source for a seasonal home. Works great.

As of yet, haven't been able to use it. It is installed and ready to go, but the control knob for the gas valve is of very cheap quality and does not work properly. Cheap, flimsy plastic part which allows knob to be pushed in, in order to go to pilot or shut off gas completely, keeps bending not allowing for this operation to be done. Waiting for new part to arrive. It is on back order from manufacturer. Hoping it comes soon, another arctic blast is upon us and I can't use fireplace insert. Not very happy.

We love our Vent-free firebox insert. Set it up for LP. Installed it in a 40 ft residential (24/7/365) school bus conversion. Looks great in my 1926 Craftsman Oak Mantle (a flat screen TV is in place of the mirror). Heats great. Small and lightweight. We will need to add the blower unit as the heat tends to "puddle up at the ceiling. With the aid of a small fan, the unit does heat all the way back to the rear bedroom. It did take a while to get the air purged from the 20 ft of gas line. The box says to use a 100# LP as the minimum size. We use 20# tanks with a 2 stage regulator. We do not run over night but did run it almost constantly during the day since we got it. It used 20# LP tank in 6 days. We have a digital CO and LP detector that registers 0 when it runs. The top and upper sides get hot enough that you can not comfortably hold your hand to the metal but it does not leave a burn. The TV mounted above the fireplace does not get any heat. We have not noticed a moisture problem here in the NM desert. I would recommend this for use in a residential school bus conversion. I will use fireplace cement to glue the logs together before we move the bus.

This firebox / gas log combination is a great deal! Heat output is okay but not great, which is fine with me as I use it more for esthetics. HOWEVER, the installation manual lists incorrect rough opening measurements!!! The manufacture included the length of the external finishing lip in the width measurement. The measurement should have been based upon the dimensions of the inserted portion plus 1/4" or so on either side (the lip is supposed to hide this gap like molding). If you follow their measurements the opening will be the exact size of the lip and will leave a 1/16" gap along the lip edge and will look terrible. I learned this the hard way... an error on homedepot's part delayed my order for 2 weeks which forced my contractor to base his measurements off the manual and not the physical box. Long story short I am now paying extra to creatively solve the problem that following the directions created... Do NOT follow the manual's rough opening measurements, measure the box its self!!!!!!!!

Perfect, also bought blower attachement. Somewhat small but fit perfect in space.

Works great. No smell. Easy to install. I would buy five more.

I actually used this insert to replace an electric one that was in a mantle that I didn't want to part with. This fireplace heatsthe entire ddownstairs of my 1400 sq ft townhouse in a matter of minutes.

The fireplace arrived just fine, paid an installed to put it in and hook up the gas line, The pilot wont light, we tried for an hour disassembled and reassembled the unit, I called the provided help line , they were closed by 4:15 pm, called the next day and was on hold for 30 minutes, finally answered and the recording said the person at this extension message box is full good by, Customer support is poor as well . I will try the phone 1 more time and if nothing happens I will be paying to have it removed and return it, Not Happy at all.
