The very slightly smaller diameter was perfect for my application and the extremely quiet fan is clearly better built. It’s blades are perfectly balanced and this completely reduces vibrations that can transmit through a house. The blades of the fan are pitched just right for quiet movement air. Great fan !

This is the second one of these fans I have bought. I got my first one a year ago for my upstairs attic. I bought a new one for my downstairs attic. They are great. Very quiet. I did buy multiple other brands that were much less expensive and tried them out. They all had an annoying motor whine that resonated throughout the house. I think many of competitors fans are all made in the same foreign factory and then just "re-badged" with someone who adds the blades or maybe just a sticker. This one is much different. It is made in California and it is guaranteed for 15 years. It is very very quiet. And it only uses 30 watts. The other fans use between 250 to 300 watts. So, with a 10 to 12 hour run time per day, you can make your money back pretty fast. My first fan from a year ago was installed as a vent fan to an existing vent in the attic. For this one I had a custom vent made for $100 and then installed the fan in the attic so that it vents through the shroud. See the photo.

    Great Product
I purchased this fan to replace an Air Vent product that is very loud and noisy. This fan is as advertised. It is extremely quiet. I have it in an upstairs attic and the other fan vibrated throughout the entire upstairs. This one is so quiet that I cannot tell that it is even running. I only have one complaint. For the price the fan should include an attic thermostat. Even the Air Vent fan at a price of $63 comes pre-wired with an attic thermostat. The fan does come with a house thermostat. But I am not sure why I would want that. I want the thermostat to be in the attic where the heat is. So, I took the one off my Air Vent fan and used it and it works fine. Also if it does last the 15 years as advertised then it is well worth the money.

2 years and still going strong!
Money well spent! It definitely helps cool the attic and even noticed that my air conditioner now kicks off on 100 degree summer days. Never used to do that before. No real noticable change in my electric bill, but at least the a/c unit doesnt work so hard anymore. Also, this thing is quiet. I can only barely hear it standing outside below the gable vent where its mounted. I definitely recommend!

I had it installed about two months ago before the weather started getting hot. I had to open the attic door to hear it running. Very quite and most importantly it does not rattle the wall which was my biggest complaint about the previous gable fan. So far I am very impressed. I am thinking of buying a second one to install at the other end of my home.

This exhaust fan is the most energy-efficient that I have ever used. It uses very little power only drawing 1 amp. I operate it from my solar system through an inverter. Second one I bought. Great product.

Arrived fast and in perfect condt. Packed well. It included a real attic fan thermostat so no need to buy one. Install was easy with the tabs. It seems quieter than the 3 other fans I have installed but it's not silent. An attic fan is best bang for buck there is. I highly recommend this one.

        It's Quiet
Bought this online and had it shipped directly to my house. Fan is fairly basic in nature. Install was easy if you're familiar with basic electrical work. It has a built in thermostat that adjusts the point at which it turns on. This is adjustable from 80 to 120 degrees. I tied it into a single pole 15amp switch located in the hall closet so I could turn it off if we leave for a vacation or during winter time. This fan is super quiet. I have this mounted on the gable end of our attic directly above our bedroom and we can not hear it run at all from the inside. The only time I can hear it is when I stand directly below it outside. It's a great product so far. It comes with 15 year warranty I believe. So far it's a great product, looking forward to see how it preforms this summer

The fan was packaged between two foam cushions. It was obviously undamaged and works fine. I installed the fan a little differently than suggested. I layered plywood to a depth of about 2 1/4" and cut a hole in it just large enough to insert the fan a couple of inches. I attached the plywood over a gable vent and boxed it in with 2x4s. I then caulked all the seems and wired it into an existing switch in my attic. The fan is so quiet I can't hear it run. I am very pleased with this product.

          Great Fan
I have used this fan with my quiet cool whole house fan since July and it has made a huge impact. It will be running during the day and it has allowed my attic to stay cool and then I will run my whole house fan and I basically eliminated the use of ac. I would recommend this to all

            Best attic fan hands down
I just got this installed with the quiet cool whole house fans and the two tandem system has eliminated my use for a/c. I would recommend the quiet cool products to all.

              Great Attic Fan
The fan came sooner than expected. it wa no problem to install for me since already had an attic fan opening. The fan is so quiet, to go up stairs several times to see if it was running. The warranty should cover any problems have. The only drawback is the thermostat that came with the fan. I paid for an attic thermostat that work for the attic and not the living area. Good investment.

                Easy to Install
My gable attic vent made this easy to install. I simply wired up the junction box and replaced the supplied thermostat with one that has a higher range. For now I set the thermostat to about 100F. The unit comes on late morning and runs. Little past dark. My house is a big rectangle, long and skinny. I will likely install a second unit at the opposite end of the house. The question is, will it work best blowing in or blowing out??

Nice fan but issues need resolving
The fan came well packed, looks good, runs well. The wiring is a problem. The pre-wired FLEX connection to a handybox used the wrong parts, such that I had to install a #1 size bushing and replace the ROMEX clamp with a FLEX clamp. The provided thermostat is extremely sensitive to the front of the mounting box being non-flat, essentially requiring some spacers or washers to hold the unit off of a metal box in order to allow it to be securely fastened. Without spacers the unit may switch on regardless of the temperature or refuse to switch on. Some kind of flexible shroud to connect the fan housing to the gable vent would be a good accessory. Without anything installed in the gap a significant amount of the air flow blows out between the fan housing and the vent. The manufacturer's installation instructions note that the installer needs to add something but provides no details, illustrations, or suggestions in this regard.

                  Attic Fan
We purchased two attic fans. They were a bit on the pricey side, but we needed to replace the two existing fans that had froze up. These new fans work very well. They could be a little quieter, as they are above our bedroom in the attic and we do hear them. However they aren't overly loud. We're happy with them, and the job they're doing.

                    Quiet fan
The fan seems to be well made, runs quiet, and was well packaged to avoid damage as previous buyers had described. The only problem that I had was the thermostat temperature range is for a room in the house not for the heat in an attic. Reused the stat from the previous fan and it is working great.

Perfect Gable Mount Attic Fan Replacement
Product worked just as advertised. I was replacing a 40 year old attic fan. Installation was easy and the fan runs much more quietly than the old fan. Note that I used vibration dampers (flat rubber washers) between the fan and the mounting hardware. That probably helps!

This made a big difference to the temperature in our house
It takes a few days to notice a difference in temperature. However, after a few days we noticed that our house was staying cooler during the day. The unit is very quiet. You can hear it when you are standing close to it, but otherwise you can't hear it.

                    Quite, Efficient Workhorse
We don't have air conditioning and are trying to avoid it so the Quietcool Energy Saver Gable Mount Attic Fan was the first step to keeping our home cool. Our home is now 5-10 degrees cooler than before the fan which is a big deal on hot summer days! Because it is super efficient, I am able to set the attic thermostat very low so it runs a lot. There are only two places in my house where you can here the fan and there you really have to concentrate to hear it. The install was super easy (aside from balancing on attic rafters). The included wiring guide makes the wiring easy. As with any attic fan, I did have to frame in and air seal to get the most efficiency from the fan. Basically a few 2x4's, a piece of strong plywood with a hole for the fan, and some air gap foam. All in all, a great decision to

                    Quiet
This fan is truly quiet. We have had 2 cheaper ($100) gable fans installed prior to this one and they were much louder. As our gable vent sits above 2 bedrooms, and this quiet fan is excellent for our house. Well worth the extra money for our application.

                    Really quiet
While this is much more expensive unit than traditional gable mount attic fans, I bought it because of the advertised quiet operation. It was not difficult to install and came with a metal electrical box to mate the incoming power connections. I chose to mount the wall-like thermostat readout and control unit closer to my attic entrance, but high in the attic space. This new unit was to replace a much older attic fan that had become quite noisy with age. The Green energy saver is very quiet indeed. There are times that I can't be certain that it is actually running unless I open the attic door and listen for its quiet hum. Note that this unit was not available in the local stores and was shipped across the country.

                    Energy Efficient and Quiet
I discovered that our rental had an old attic gable fan - but the bearings had seized and had been that way for the 3 years we have owned it. Being a typical gable fan it was 1/6 HP which is about 400 watts. And my landlord brother indicated that even though it did not turn, it still was consuming power. The thermostat trips at 90 degrees, so in Phoenix that means it has been on continuously for all those summers but not moving air. The QuietCool AFG ES-1500 that replaced it consumes only 30 watts - less than a tenth of the power of the standard fan! And you can hear it only if you stand outside under the gable vent as a quiet flow of air. Now that said, I used a remote thermometer to check the attic temperature before and after installation, and the temperature difference was only a few degrees. The house has vented eves but the attic batt insulation pushes to the roofline - so I need to try adding baffles so airflow from the vented eves can help. Just the natural flow of air from the vents should have more of an impact. And the thermostat provided is a normal house variety which does no good in Phoenix, so I bought an attic version to trip on at 90 degrees. So if you must buy a fan, don't buy the cheap ones that will consume 400 watts. Spend more for one that is energy efficient. And consider buying a remote thermometer to better understand your issues. I discovered that our attic temperature was lower than outside in the early morning because of the cooling from the rooms below. At about 10 am temperatures would match before the attic would zoom ahead which stayed that way until well after dark.

                    Well packaged, smooth running
The fan arrived well-packaged to prevent damage. Some people have complained about having to bend the mounting tabs flat, but this did not appear to be an issue for me. A thermostat is supplied. I did use it, but it is almost comically ancient in design, something that would have been installed in a (no-AC) apartment in the 1970s. I will probably replace it when I have a chance. The fan is ventilating an area of about 1000sf (volume about 5000cf). It appears to be doing a good job. It is very quiet compared to the unit I used previously (a much less expensive model from a different company, that failed in a dangerous manner). The fan is mounted in the gable right above the master bedroom. I cannot tell when it is on, either by sound or vibration. Overall a very good product that I hope has solved my attic ventilation problems for years to come.

Moves the hot air out of the hot pocket known as the attic. After we open up more soffit vents, there will be a constant stream of fresh air through the space reducing toxic air into the living space below. Very good tool. Husband is a genius and was able to install easily.

As quiet as the literature says
I purchased this to make my central A/C more efficient in my 1980 house. This product is designed to keep the attic cooler by pulling in cooler outside air. Even if it is 90 deg. outside, bringing in outside air will considerably reduce the temperature in the attic which could be 140-150 degrees. Regardless of level of attic insulation, less heat radiates into the house below when the attic is cooler. This fan makes my A/C run more efficiently. The ducts don't loose as much cool air. I followed the excellent instructions. Hardest part was determining which wire in the attic to tap. I invested in a Klein current sensor to do this. The box came with a thermostat of the type used with 120 v. electric baseboard heating - two wires. I mounted this near my attic access hole so I could adjust by standing on a ladder. I also mounted an [ordinary] light switch so I can bypass the thermostat and turn it off in winter. The fan is very very quiet. No vibration, no noise transmitted inside the house. I used ordinary sheet metal purchased at Home Depot to make a shroud to block the opening above and below the fan on the gable vent and the cardboard from the box as a template for the size. The fan uses only 30 watts and seems to cut the time my A/C runs by 15%-20% = excellent cost-benefit. You can find installation instructions on the mfg's website before you purchase. It helps to have a second person to reach tools up to you. In addition to what comes in the box, I needed 2 "new work" single gang junction boxes and covers, enough14-2 Romex cable for the distances, a third single gang junction box if you want an on/off switch, and wire nuts. Oh, I forgot that I isolated the fan from the 2x4's at the gable vent using rubber waffle pads from an HVAC store. Rubber grommets from the electrical aisle at HD may work also.

I just got this attic fan with a Es 3100 and wow what a system. I haven't ran my air since getting it installed. The attic was 30 degrees cooler than the day I didn't run it. I measured the attic temperature and that was the result. Love this product and would recommend it to all. The quality of the fan was phenomenal!!!!
